✧ When Ibrahim ﷺ finished building the House, He said to him: 'Proclaim the pilgrimage among the people.' He said: 'But how far will my voice reach?' It was said: 'Proclaim, and upon Me is the conveying.' So Ibrahim called out: 'O people, the pilgrimage to the Ancient House has been prescribed for you.' And it was heard by all between heaven and earth. Do you not see that people come for pilgrimage from all corners of the earth, reciting the talbiyah?

✧ Make pilgrimage, for it is as if I am looking at an Ethiopian with a small ear, holding a pickaxe, demolishing it stone by stone. We said to Ali ؓ: Is this your own opinion? He said: No, by the One who split the grain and created the soul, but I heard it from your Prophet ﷺ.

✧ I was sitting with the Messenger of God ﷺ in the mosque of al-Khayf, when a man from the Ansar and a man from Thaqif came to him. When they had greeted him, they said: 'We have come to you, O Messenger of God, to ask you.' He ﷺ said: 'If you wish, I will tell you what you are asking me about, and if you wish I will remain silent and you ask me.' They said: 'Tell us, O Messenger of God, so that we may increase in faith or increase in certainty—Ismail was unsure. The Ansari said to the Thaqafi: 'Ask.' He said: 'No, you ask him, for I acknowledge your right, so ask him.' The Ansari said: 'Tell us, O Messenger of God.' He ﷺ said: 'You have come to ask me about your departure from your house heading for the Sacred House, and what you will have for it; about your circumambulation of the House, and what you will have for it; about your two rak'ahs after the circumambulation, and what you will have for them; about your going between al-Safa and al-Marwah, and what you will have for it; about your standing at Arafah, and what you will have for it; about your stoning of the Jamarat, and what you will have for it; about your sacrifice, and what you will have for it; about shaving your head, and what you will have for it; and about your circumambulation after that, and what you will have for it.' He said: 'By the One who sent you with the truth, it was about this that I came to ask you.' He ﷺ said: 'When you leave your house heading for the Sacred House, your camel does not place a foot nor lift it except that God Almighty writes for you a good deed, wipes out a sin, and raises you a degree. As for your circumambulation of the House, and your two rak'ahs after the circumambulation, they are like freeing a slave from the descendants of Ishmael. As for your going between al-Safa and al-Marwah, it is like freeing seventy slaves. As for your standing on the evening of Arafah, God Almighty descends to the lowest heaven and boasts of you to the angels, saying: 'These are My servants who have come to Me with disheveled hair and covered in dust from every deep valley, hoping for My mercy and forgiveness. If your sins were as numerous as the grains of sand or the foam of the sea, I would forgive them. Depart, My servants, forgiven, and for those you intercede for.' As for your stoning of the Jamarat, for every pebble you throw, a major sin from the destructive, obligatory sins is removed. As for your sacrifice, it is stored for you with your Lord. As for shaving your head, for every hair you shave, a good deed is recorded and a sin is wiped out.' He said: 'O Messenger of God, what if the sins are fewer than that?' He said: 'Then it will be stored for you among your good deeds. As for your circumambulation of the House after that, you will circumambulate while you have no sin. An angel will come and place his hand between your shoulders, then say: 'Work for what is to come, for what has passed has been forgiven you.'

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ addressed us and mentioned a long hadith, in which (he said): 'Whoever goes out for Hajj or Umrah, for every step until he returns, he will have a million good deeds, a million sins erased, and a million degrees raised. With his Lord, for every dirham he spends, he will have a million dirhams, and for every dinar, a million dinars. For every good deed he performs, he will have a million good deeds until he returns, and he is in the protection of God Almighty. If He causes him to die, He will admit him to Paradise, and if He returns him, He will return him forgiven and with his supplications answered. So seize his supplication when he arrives, before he falls into sins, for he will intercede for a hundred thousand men on the Day of Resurrection.'

✧ He stood at a gate inside which led to the mosque, the mosque of Mina, and praised God Almighty and extolled Him, then said: 'These are none but the servants of the disbelieving, wicked people. They have made it difficult to come every year, so they steal our wealth and take our slaves captive. God Almighty has made their blood and wealth lawful because of what they have made lawful of our blood and wealth,' meaning Najdah the Kharijite and his companions. 'I sent to them, and they were given what they asked for. Here are the slaves and the saddlebags—separate them, and whatever you recognize, take it. But I do not think it is right to shed blood in the sanctuary of God Almighty. The Messenger of God ﷺ said during the Farewell Pilgrimage: 'Which land is most sacred?' It was said: 'Makkah.' He said: 'Which month is most sacred?' It was said: 'Dhu al-Hijjah.' He said: 'Which day is most sacred?' It was said: 'The Day of the Great Pilgrimage.' The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'Your blood and your wealth are sacred to you until you meet your Lord, like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this land of yours, in this month of yours.'

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ gave a sermon and mentioned the hadith. He said: 'O people, time has come full circle, and today it is as it was on the day God created the heavens and the earth. The number of months with God is twelve months in the Book of God, Mighty and Majestic, from the day He created the heavens and the earth. Of them, four are sacred: Rajab of Mudar, between Jumada and Sha'ban, Dhu al-Qa'dah, Dhu al-Hijjah, and al-Muharram. The postponement (al-nasi') is an increase in disbelief, by which those who disbelieve are led astray, making it lawful one year and sacred another, to correspond with the number that God has made sacred, thus making lawful what God has forbidden. That is the postponement from Satan—the hadith... And in it: 'What day is this?' They said: 'A sacred day.' He said: 'What month is this?' They said: 'A sacred month.' He said: 'What land is this?' They said: 'A sacred land.' He said: 'God Almighty has made your blood, your wealth, and your honor sacred to you, like the sanctity of this day, in this month, in this land. Indeed, there is no prophet after me, and no nation after you. Let those present convey to those absent.' Then he raised his hands and said: 'O God, bear witness. O God, bear witness.' Three times.
