✧ Tamattu' (Combining Umrah with Hajj in One Journey)

قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ: أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، ثَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ:

إِنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ هَمَّ أَنْ يَنْهَى عَنْ مُتْعَةِ الْحَجِّ، فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ أُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ، فَقَالَ: لَيْسَ ذَاكَ لَكَ، قَدْ نَزَلَ بِهَا كِتَابُ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، وَاعْتَمَرْنَاهَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَتَرَكَ عُمَرُ ؓ

Translation

✧ Umar b. al-Khattab ؓ resolved to prohibit tamattu' in Hajj. Ubayy b. Ka'b stood up to him and said, "That is not for you to do. The Book of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, was revealed for it, and we performed 'umrah with it along with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." So Umar ؓ abandoned that.
