✧ The Disapproval of Performing Hajj on Camels Fed on Impure Substances

قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي يَزِيدَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ:

قَدِمَ عُمَرُ ؓ مَكَّةَ، فَأُخْبِرَ أَنَّ لِمَوْلًى لِعَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ إِبِلًا جَلَّالَةً، فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهَا، فَأَخْرَجَهَا مِنْ مَكَّةَ، وَقَالَ: إِبِلٌ يُحْتَطَبُ عَلَيْهَا، وَيُنْقَلُ عَلَيْهَا الْمَاءُ. فَقَالَ عُمَرُ ؓ: لَا يُحَجُّ عَلَيْهَا، وَلَا يُعْتَمَرُ

Translation

✧ `Umar ؓ came to Makkah and was informed that a freed slave of `Amr b. al-`As had camels that ate filth. He sent for them and drove them out of Makkah, and said: 'Camels used for carrying firewood and transporting water.' `Umar ؓ said: 'Neither Hajj nor `Umrah is to be performed on them.'
