✧ Crowding to Kiss the Black Stone and Its Virtue

قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ هُوَ ابْنُ فَرُّوخَ، ثَنَا جَرِيرٌ هُوَ ابْنُ حَازِمٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ؓ:
أَنَّهُ كَانَ يُزَاحِمُ عَلَى الرُّكْنِ، فَإِذَا رَأَوْهُ أَوْسَعُوا لَهُ. قَالَ نَافِعٌ: فَلَقَدْ وَقَعْتُ يَوْمًا فِي زِحَامِ النَّاسِ، فَوَضَعَ رَجُلٌ مِرْفَقَهُ مِنْ خَلْفِي، وَوَقَعَ الرَّجُلُ مِنْ أَمَامِهِ، وَوَقَعْتُ مِنْ خَلْفِي، فَمَا ظَنَنْتُ أَنْ أَنْقَلِبَ حَتَّى يَقْتُلُونِي، وَأَبَى هُوَ إِلَّا أَنْ يَتَقَدَّمَ

✧ He used to crowd to reach the corner, and when people saw him, they would make way for him. Nafi' said, 'One day I ended up in the crowd of people, and a man placed his elbow behind me. The man in front of him fell, and I fell from behind him. I did not think I would get out until they killed me, but he insisted on advancing.'
