✧ "And indeed We have granted you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur'an." (Surah Al-Hijr 15:87) He (Said bin Jubair) recited it to me as, "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful" (Surah Al-Fatiha 1) when he completed it, and he said, "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful" (Surah Al-Fatiha 1) is the seventh verse. And Sa'id bin Jubair said to me, 'Indeed Allah has brought it out for you, and He did not bring it out for anyone before you.'"

✧ "He counted it for me in my hand {In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, praise be to Allah, the Lord of all worlds, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, Master of the Day of Judgment. You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help. Guide us on the Straight Path, the path of those who have received Your grace; not the path of those who have brought down wrath upon themselves, nor of those who have gone astray.} Then he said, 'Allah brought it out for you, and not for anyone else.'"

✧ Uthman b. Affan asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about “In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.” He said, “It is one of the names of Allah, and between it and the Greatest Name of Allah is only as close as the black of the eye is to its white.”

«مَنْ قَرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ فَقَدِ اسْتَدَرَجَ النُّبُوَّةَ بَيْنَ جَنْبَيْهِ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ لَا يُوحَى إِلَيْهِ لَا يَنْبَغِي لِصَاحِبِ الْقُرْآنِ أَنْ يَحِدَّ مَعَ مَنْ حَدَّ وَلَا يَجْهَلَ مَعَ مَنْ جَهِلَ وَفِي جَوْفِهِ كَلَامُ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى»
✧ “Whoever reads the Quran has drawn prophethood within his sides, except that it is not revealed to him. It is not proper for the companion of the Quran to be harsh with one who is harsh, nor to be ignorant with one who is ignorant; while in his heart is the speech of Allah, Exalted is He.”

يَجِيءُ صَاحِبُ الْقُرْآنِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَيَقُولُ الْقُرْآنُ يَا رَبِّ حَلِّهِ فَيُلْبَسُ تَاجَ الْكَرَامَةِ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ يَا رَبِّ زِدْهُ يَا رَبِّ ارْضَ عَنْهُ فَيَرْضَى عَنْهُ وَيُقَالُ لَهُ اقْرِهِ وَارْقَهْ وَيَزْدَادُ بِكُلِّ آيَةٍ حَسَنَةً «»
✧ The companion of the Quran will come on the Day of Resurrection, and the Quran will say, “O Lord, adorn him.” So he will be clothed with the crown of honor. Then it will say, “O Lord, increase him; O Lord, be pleased with him.” So He will be pleased with him, and it will be said to him, “Recite and ascend,” and he will increase in goodness with every verse.”

«يُقَالُ لِصَاحِبِ الْقُرْآنِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ اقْرَهْ وَارْقَهْ وَرَتِّلْ كَمَا كُنْتَ تُرَتِّلُ فَإِنَّ مَنْزِلَتَكَ فِي آخِرِ آيَةٍ تَقْرَؤُهَا»
✧ “It will be said to the companion of the Quran on the Day of Resurrection: Recite and ascend, and recite with measured recitation as you used to recite in the world, for your station will be at the last verse you recite.”

نَزَلَ الْكِتَابُ الْأَوَّلُ مِنْ بَابٍ وَاحِدٍ عَلَى حَرْفٍ وَاحِدٍ وَنَزَلَ الْقُرْآنُ مِنْ سَبْعَةِ أَبْوَابٍ عَلَى سَبْعَةِ أَحْرُفٍ زَاجِرًا وَآمِرًا وَحَلَالًا وَحَرَامًا وَمُحْكَمًا وَمُتَشَابِهًا وَأَمْثَالًا فَأَحِلُّوا حَلَالَهُ وَحَرِّمُوا حَرَامَهُ وَافْعَلُوا مَا أُمِرْتُمْ بِهِ وَانْتَهُوا عَمَّا نُهِيتُمْ عَنْهُ وَاعْتَبِرُوا بَأَمْثَالِهِ وَاعْمَلُوا بِمُحْكَمِهِ وَآمِنُوا بِمُتَشَابِهِهِ وَقُولُوا آمَنَّا بِهِ كُلٌّ مِنْ عِنْدِ رَبِّنَا
✧ The first Book came down from one gate upon one letter, but the Quran came down from seven gates upon seven letters: as a restrainer, a commander, lawful, unlawful, clear, ambiguous, and parables. So make lawful its lawful, make unlawful its unlawful, do what you are commanded, refrain from what you are forbidden, take lesson from its parables, act upon its clear verses, believe in its ambiguous verses, and say: We believe in it; all is from our Lord.

«تَعَاهَدُوا هَذَا الْقُرْآنَ فَإِنَّهُ وَحْشِيٌّ أَشَدُّ تَفَصِّيًا مِنْ صُدُورِ الرِّجَالِ مِنَ الْإِبِلِ مِنْ عُقُلِهَا وَلَا يَقُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ نَسِيتُ آيَةَ كَيْتَ وَكَيْتَ بَلْ هُوَ نُسِّيَ»
✧ “Guard this Quran, for it is more elusive and quicker to slip from the hearts of men than camels from their hobbles. None of you should say, ‘I forgot such-and-such a verse,’ but rather he was made to forget.”

أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ وَهُوَ عَلَى ظَهْرِ بَيْتِهِ وَهُوَ حَسَنُ الصَّوْتِ فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ بَيْنَا أقْرَأُ إِذْ غَشِيَنِي شَيْءٌ كَالسَّحَابِ وَالْمَرْأَةُ فِي الْبَيْتِ وَالْفَرَسُ فِي الدَّارِ فَتَخَوَّفْتُ أَنْ تَسْقُطَ الْمَرْأَةُ وَتَنْفَلِتَ الْفَرَسُ فَانْصَرَفْتُ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «اقْرَأْ يَا أُسَيْدُ فَإِنَّمَا هُوَ مَلَكٌ اسْتَمَعَ الْقُرْآنَ»
✧ that he used to recite while on the roof of his house, and he had a beautiful voice. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came and he said: While I was reciting, something like a cloud overshadowed me, while the woman was in the house and the horse was in the courtyard. I feared lest the woman fall and the horse bolt, so I stopped. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: "Recite, O Usayd, for it was only an angel listening to the Qur'an."

أَنَّ أُسَيْدَ بْنَ حُضَيْرٍ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ بِنَحْوِهِ وَقَالَ فِيهِ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «اقْرَأْ أُسَيْدُ اقْرَأْ أُسَيْدُ فَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ مَلَكٌ يَسْتَمِعُ الْقُرْآنَ»
✧ that Usayd b. Hudayr came to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned the hadith similarly, and in it he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Recite, Usayd, recite, Usayd, for that was an angel listening to the Qur'an."

بَيْنَا أَنَا أَقْرَأُ اللَّيْلَةَ سُورَةَ الْبَقَرَةِ فَلَمَّا انْتَهَيْتُ إِلَى آخِرِهَا سَمِعْتُ وَجْبَةً مِنْ خَلْفِي فَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّ فَرَسِي تُطْلَقُ فَقَالَ «اقْرَأْ أَبَا عَتِيكٍ وَالْتَفَتُّ فَإِذَا أَمْثَالُ الْمَصَابِيحِ مُدَلَّاةٌ بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ» فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهِ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ أَنْ أَمْضِيَ قَالَ فَقَالَ «تِلْكَ الْمَلَائِكَةُ نَزَلَتْ لِقِرَاءَةِ الْقُرْآنِ أَمَا إِنَّكَ لَوْ مَضَيْتَ لَرَأَيْتَ الْعَجَائِبَ»
✧ While I was reciting Surat al-Baqarah tonight, when I reached its end I heard a thud behind me, and I thought that my horse was being set loose. He said: "Recite, Abu 'Atik." And I turned, and behold, there were things like lamps suspended between the sky and the earth. He said: O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, I could not continue. He said: "Those were angels who descended for the recitation of the Qur'an. Indeed, had you continued, you would have seen wonders."

الصِّيَامُ وَالْقُرْآنُ يَشْفَعَانِ لِلْعَبْدِ يَقُولُ الصِّيَامُ رَبِّ إِنِّي مَنَعْتُهُ الطَّعَامَ وَالشَّهَوَاتِ بِالنَّهَارِ فَشَفِّعْنِي فِيهِ وَيَقُولُ الْقُرْآنُ مَنَعْتُهُ النَّوْمَ بِاللَّيْلِ فَيُشَفَّعَانِ
✧ Fasting and the Qur'an will intercede for the servant. Fasting says: My Lord, I deprived him of food and desires during the day, so let me intercede for him. And the Qur'an says: I deprived him of sleep at night. So they will both intercede.

«إِنَّ هَذَا الْقُرْآنَ مَأْدُبَةُ اللَّهِ فَاقْبَلُوا مِنْ مَأْدُبَتِهِ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ إِنَّ هَذَا الْقُرْآنَ حَبْلُ اللَّهِ وَالنُّورُ الْمُبِينُ وَالشِّفَاءُ النَّافِعُ عِصْمَةٌ لِمَنْ تَمَسَّكَ بِهِ وَنَجَاةٌ لِمَنْ تَبِعَهُ لَا يَزِيغُ فَيُسْتَعْتَبَ وَلَا يَعْوَجُّ فَيُقَوَّمُ وَلَا تَنْقَضِي عَجَائِبُهُ وَلَا يَخْلَقُ مِنْ كَثْرَةِ الرَّدِّ اتْلُوهُ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ يَأْجُرُكُمْ عَلَى تِلَاوَتِهِ كُلَّ حَرْفٍ عَشْرَ حَسَنَاتٍ أَمَا إِنِّي لَا أَقُولُ الم حَرْفٌ وَلَكِنْ أَلِفٌ وَلَامٌ وَمِيمٌ»
✧ "Indeed this Qur'an is the banquet of Allah, so accept from His banquet as much as you can. Indeed this Qur'an is the rope of Allah, the clear light, and the beneficial healing. It is a protection for the one who clings to it and a salvation for the one who follows it. It does not deviate lest it be corrected, and it does not bend lest it be straightened. Its wonders do not cease, and it does not wear out from much repetition. Recite it, for Allah will reward you for its recitation: for every letter, ten good deeds. Indeed I do not say that Alif Lam Mim is a letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter, and Mim is a letter."

✧ On the Day of Resurrection, the Qur'an will come like a young man and say to its companion: I am the one who kept you awake at night and made you thirsty during the day.

أَنَّ رَجُلًا جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ اشْتَرَيْتُ مِقْسَمَ بَنِي فُلَانٍ فِي تَخْتٍ فِيهِ كَذَا وَكَذَا قَالَ «أَفَلَا أُنَبِّئُكَ بِمَا هُوَ أَكْثَرُ مِنْهُ رِيحًا؟» قَالَ وَهَلْ يُوجَدُ؟ قَالَ «رَجُلٌ تَعَلَّمَ عَشْرَ آيَاتٍ» فَذَهَبَ الرَّجُلُ فَتَعَلَّمَ عَشْرَ آيَاتٍ فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَأَخْبَرَهُ «إِنْ كَانَ عَمْرُو بْنُ خَالِدٍ حَفِظَ فِي إِسْنَادِهِ سَالِمَ بْنَ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ فَإِنَّهُ صَحِيحٌ عَلَى شَرْطِ مُسْلِمٍ غَيْرَ أَنَّ الْبَصْرِيِّينَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْمُعْتَمِرِ خَالَفُوهُ فِيهِ»
✧ that a man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: O Prophet of Allah, I bought the portion of Banu So-and-so in a container containing such-and-such. He said: "Shall I not inform you of something that has more fragrance than it?" The man said: Does such a thing exist? He said: "A man who learns ten verses." So the man went and learned ten verses, then came to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him. "If 'Amr b. Khalid preserved in his chain Salim b. Abi al-Ja'd, then it is authentic according to Muslim's criterion, but the Basrans among the companions of al-Mu'tamir disagreed with him about it."

✧ "Indeed, Allah has people among mankind." They said, "Who are they, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "The people of the Qur'an; they are the people of Allah and His elite."

✧ "When we learned ten verses of the Qur'an from the Prophet ﷺ, we would not learn from the ten that were revealed after them until we learned what was in them." It was said to Sharik, "From the practice?" He said, "Yes."

«أَلَا أُعَلِّمُكَ سُورَةً مَا أُنْزِلَتْ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ وَلَا فِي الْإِنْجِيلِ وَلَا فِي الزَّبُورِ وَلَا فِي الْقُرْآنِ مِثْلُهَا؟» قُلْتُ بَلَى قَالَ «إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ لَا تَخْرُجَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ الْبَابِ حَتَّى تَعْلَمَهَا» فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَقُمْتُ مَعَهُ فَجَعَلَ يُحَدِّثُنِي وَيَدِي فِي يَدِهِ فَجَعَلْتُ أَتَبَاطَأُ كَرَاهِيَةَ أَنْ يَخْرُجَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُخْبِرُنِي بِهَا فَلَمَّا دَنَوْتُ مِنَ الْبَابِ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ السُّورَةُ الَّتِي وَعَدْتَنِي فَقَالَ «كَيْفَ تَقْرَأُ إِذَا قُمْتَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ؟» فَقَرَأْتُ فَاتِحَةَ الْكِتَابِ فَقَالَ هِيَ هِيَ وَهِيَ السَّبْعُ الْمَثَانِي الَّتِي قَالَ اللَّهُ ﷻ {وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَاكَ سَبْعًا مِنَ الْمَثَانِي وَالْقُرْآنَ الْعَظِيمَ} [الحجر 87] الَّذِي أُعْطِيتُ «»
✧ "Shall I not teach you a surah the like of which was not sent down in the Torah, nor in the Gospel, nor in the Psalms, nor in the Qur'an?" I said, "Yes, indeed." He said, "I hope that you will not leave through that door until you learn it." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up, and I stood with him. He began to speak to me while my hand was in his hand. I started to walk slowly, disliking that he would leave before telling me it. When I approached the door, I said, "O Messenger of Allah, the surah you promised me?" He said, "How do you recite when you stand for prayer?" So I recited the Opening of the Book. He said, "It is it, it is it, and it is the seven oft-repeated verses that Allah ﷻ said: {And We have certainly given you seven of the oft-repeated verses and the great Qur'an} [al-Hijr 87], which I was given."

✧ He informed him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Ubayy b. Ka'b while he was praying, and when he finished his prayer, he beckoned to him. He said: The Prophet ﷺ placed his hand on my hand. He said: He intended to leave through the door of the mosque, so he said, "I hope that you will not leave the mosque until you learn a surah the like of which was not sent down in the Torah, nor in the Gospel, nor in the Qur'an." He said: I began to walk slowly, hoping for that. Then I said, "O Messenger of Allah, the surah you promised me?" He said, "How do you recite when you begin the prayer?" He said: I recited, "Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds," until I came to its end. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "It is this surah, and it is the seven oft-repeated verses and the great Qur'an that I was given."

Ja'far in Abu Hurayrah's hearing of this hadith from Ubayy b. Ka'b from the hadith of the Madinans."

✧ The Prophet ﷺ called out to Ubayy b. Ka'b while he was standing in prayer, but he did not answer him. He said, "What prevented you from answering me, O Ubayy?" He said, "I was praying." He said, "Did not Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, say: {Respond to Allah and to the Messenger when he calls you} [al-Anfal 24]? Do not leave the mosque until I teach you a surah the like of which Allah has not sent down in the Torah, the Gospel, or the Psalms. Indeed, it is the seven long ones that I was given, and indeed, it is the great Qur'an." ✧ While Jibril ﷺ was sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he heard a creaking sound from the sky. He raised his head and then said, "A gate of heaven has been opened that was never opened before." Then an angel said, "Rejoice in two lights that you have been given, which no prophet before you was given: the Opening of the Book and the closing verses of Surat al-Baqarah. You will not recite a letter from them except that you will be given it."

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent us on a military expedition or a raiding party. We passed by a household and sought their hospitality, but they did not host us. We camped near another group, and their chief was stung by a scorpion. They came to us and said, "Is there anyone among you who can perform ruqyah?" I said, "I am a raqi." They said, "Then perform ruqyah on our companion." I said, "No, we sought your hospitality, but you did not host us." They said, "We will give you a reward." So they set aside thirty sheep for us. He said: I went to him and began to wipe him and recite the Opening of the Book, repeating it until he recovered. We took the sheep and said, "We took them, but we do not know how to perform ruqyah. We are not ones to eat them until we ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." So we came to him and mentioned it to him. He began to say, "What made you know that it is a ruqyah?" I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I did not know that it was a ruqyah, but it was something that Allah cast into my heart." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Eat, and assign a share for me with you."

أَنَّهُ مَرَّ بِقَوْمٍ وَعِنْدَهُمْ مَجْنُونٌ مُوثَقٌ فِي الْحَدِيدِ فَقَالَ لَهُ بَعْضُهُمْ أَعِنْدَكَ شَيْءٌ يُدَاوَى بِهِ هَذَا فَإِنَّ صَاحِبَكُمْ قَدْ جَاءَ بِخَيْرٍ قَالَ فَقَرَأْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَاتِحَةَ الْكِتَابِ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ فِي كُلِّ يَوْمٍ مَرَّتَيْنِ فَبَرَأَ فَأَعْطَاهُ مِائَةَ شَاةٍ فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ «كُلْ فَمَنْ أَكَلَ بِرُقْيَةِ بَاطِلٍ فَقَدْ أَكَلْتَ بِرُقْيَةِ حَقٍّ»
✧ He passed by a people who had a madman bound in iron. Some of them said to him, "Do you have anything with which to treat this one? For your companion has come with good." He said: I recited the Opening of the Book over him for three days, twice each day, and he recovered. They gave him one hundred sheep. He came to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned that to him. He said, "Eat, for whoever eats by a false ruqyah, you have eaten by a true ruqyah."

✧ He had a storehouse for dates and noticed it diminishing. He guarded it one night and saw a being like a young boy who had reached puberty. He greeted him and he returned the greeting. He said, "Are you a jinni or a human?" He said, "Rather, a jinni." He said, "Show me your hand." So he showed him, and it was the hand of a dog with the hair of a dog. He said, "Thus is the creation of the jinn." He said, "The jinn know that there is no man among them stronger than me." He said, "What brought you?" He said, "We were informed that you love charity, so we came to take some of your food." He said, "What protects us from you?" He said, "You recite Ayat al-Kursi from Surah al-Baqarah: 'Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence.'" He said, "Yes." He said, "If you recite it in the morning, you are protected from us until evening, and if you recite it in the evening, you are protected from us until morning." Ubayy said, "So I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the morning and informed him of that, and he said, 'The wicked one spoke the truth.'"

✧ From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, similar to it. Muslim has transmitted the hadith of Abu Malik al-Ashja'i from Rib'i b. Hirash from Hudhayfah that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I was given the concluding verses of Surah al-Baqarah from a treasure beneath the Throne."

جَعَلَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَلَى صَدَقَةِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَجَعَلْتُ الثَّمَرَ فِي غُرْفَةٍ فَوَجَدْتُ فِيهِ نُقْصَانًا فَأَخْبَرْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «هَذَا الشَّيْطَانُ يَأْخُذُهُ» قَالَ فَدَخَلْتُ الْغُرْفَةَ فَأَغْلَقْتُ الْبَابَ عَلَيَّ فَجَاءَتْ ظُلْمَةٌ عَظِيمَةٌ فَغَشِيتُ الْبَابَ ثُمَّ تَصَوَّرَ فِي صُورَةِ فِيلٍ ثُمَّ تَصَوَّرَ فِي صُورَةٍ أُخْرَى فَدَخَلَ مِنْ شَقِّ الْبَابِ فَشَدَدْتُ إِزَارِي عَلَيَّ فَجَعَلَ يَأْكُلُ مِنَ التَّمْرِ قَالَ فَوَثَبْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَضَبَطْتُهُ فَالْتَقَتْ يَدَايَ عَلَيْهِ فَقُلْتُ يَا عَدُوَّ اللَّهِ فَقَالَ خَلِّ عَنِّي فَإِنِّي كَبِيرٌ ذُو عِيَالٍ كَثِيرٍ وَأَنَا فَقِيرٌ وَأَنَا مِنْ جِنِّ نَصِيبِينَ وَكَانَتْ لَنَا هَذِهِ الْقَرْيَةِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُبْعَثَ صَاحِبُكُمْ فَلَمَّا بُعِثَ أُخْرِجْنَا عَنْهَا فَخَلِّ عَنِّي فَلَنْ أَعُودَ إِلَيْكَ فَخَلَّيْتُ عَنْهُ وَجَاءَ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فَأَخْبَرَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِمَا كَانَ فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ الصُّبْحَ فَنَادَى مُنَادِيهِ أَيْنَ مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ فَقُمْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «مَا فَعَلَ أَسِيرُكَ يَا مُعَاذُ؟» فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ فَقَالَ «أَمَا إِنَّهُ سَيَعُودُ» فَعَادَ قَالَ فَدَخَلْتُ الْغُرْفَةَ وَأَغْلَقْتُ عَلَيَّ الْبَابَ فَدَخَلَ مِنْ شَقِّ الْبَابِ فَجَعَلَ يَأْكُلُ مِنَ التَّمْرِ فَصَنَعْتُ بِهِ كَمَا صَنَعْتُ فِي الْمَرَّةِ الْأُولَى فَقَالَ خَلِّ عَنِّي فَإِنِّي لَنْ أَعُودَ إِلَيْكَ فَقُلْتُ يَا عَدُوَّ اللَّهِ أَلَمْ تَقُلْ لَا أَعُودُ؟ قَالَ فَإِنِّي لَنْ أَعُودَ وَآيَةُ ذَلِكَ عَلَيَّ أَنْ لَا يَقْرَأَ أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ خَاتِمَةَ الْبَقَرَةِ فَيَدْخُلَ أَحَدٌ مِنَّا فِي بَيْتِهِ تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةِ
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ appointed me over the charity of the Muslims. I put the fruit in a room and found it diminishing, so I informed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said, "This is the devil taking it." He said, "So I entered the room and locked the door upon myself. Then a great darkness came and covered the door. Then it took the form of an elephant, then it took another form, and it entered through a crack in the door. I tightened my lower garment around myself, and it began to eat from the dates. He said, 'I leaped upon it and seized it, and my hands locked around it. I said, "O enemy of Allah!" It said, "Release me, for I am old with many dependents, and I am poor. I am from the jinn of Nasibin. This village belonged to us before your companion was sent, and when he was sent, we were expelled from it. So release me, and I will never return to you.' So I released him. Then Jibril ﷺ came and informed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ of what had happened. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed the morning prayer, and his caller called out, 'Where is Mu'adh b. Jabal?' So I stood up to him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'What did your captive do, O Mu'adh?' So I informed him, and he said, 'Indeed, he will return.' So he returned. He said, 'I entered the room and locked the door upon myself, and he entered through a crack in the door and began to eat from the dates. I did to him as I did the first time. He said, "Release me, for I will never return to you." I said, "O enemy of Allah, did you not say I will not return?" He said, "Indeed, I will not return. And the sign of that upon me is that none of you recites the conclusion of al-Baqarah but that one of us enters his house that night.'"

✧ Learn the Quran, for it will intercede for its people on the Day of Resurrection. Recite the two bright ones." It was said: "What are the two bright ones?" He said: "Al-Baqarah and Al 'Imran, for they will come on the Day of Resurrection as if they were two clouds, or two canopies, or two flocks of white birds in ranks, defending their companions with their wings. Learn Al-Baqarah, for learning it is a blessing, abandoning it is a regret, and the sorcerers cannot master it.

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever recites Surah Al-Kahf as it was revealed, it will be a light for him on the Day of Resurrection from his place to Mecca. And whoever recites the last ten verses of it and then the Antichrist appears, he will not be harmed by him. And whoever performs ablution and then says: 'Glory be to You, O Allah, and praise be to You. There is no god except You. I seek Your forgiveness and repent to You,' it will be written on a parchment, then sealed with a seal and it will not be broken until the Day of Resurrection."

I said, 'She was with her mother.' He said, 'So, what you have come for?' I said, 'I came so that you can teach me something to say in my dreams.' He said, 'Recite: Say, O disbelievers, for it is a disassociation from polytheism.'"

✧ He heard Abu Hurayrah saying: I came with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he heard a man reciting {Say: He is Allah, the One; Allah, the Eternal Refuge; He neither begets nor is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent} [al-Ikhlas 2]. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "It has become obligatory." I asked him: "What, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "Paradise." Abu Hurayrah said: I wanted to go to the man and give him glad tidings, but I feared that I would miss lunch with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so I preferred lunch. Then I went to the man and found that he had gone.

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever recites the Quran, learns it, and acts upon it will be clothed on the Day of Resurrection with a crown of light whose radiance is like the radiance of the sun, and his parents will be clothed with two garments that the world cannot equal. They will say: 'Why have we been clothed?' It will be said: 'Because your child took the Quran.'"

«اعْمَلُوا بِالْقُرْآنِ وَأَحِلُّوا حَلَالَهُ وَحَرِّمُوا حَرَامَهُ وَاقْتَدُوا بِهِ وَلَا تَكْفُرُوا بِشَيْءٍ مِنْهُ وَمَا تَشَابَهَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْهُ فَرَدُّوهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَإِلَى أُولِي الْأَمْرِ مِنْ بَعْدِي كَيْمَا يُخْبِرُوكُمْ وَآمِنُوا بِالتَّوْرَاةِ وَالْإِنْجِيلِ وَالزَّبُورِ وَمَا أُوتِيَ النَّبِيُّونَ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ وَلْيَسَعْكُمُ الْقُرْآنُ وَمَا فِيهِ مِنَ الْبَيَانِ فَإِنَّهُ شَافِعٌ مُشَفَّعٌ وَمَا حَلَّ مُصَدِّقٌ إِلَّا وَلِكُلِّ آيَةٍ نُورٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَإِنِّي أُعْطِيتُ سُورَةَ الْبَقَرَةِ مِنَ الذِّكْرِ الْأَوَّلِ وَأُعْطِيتُ طَهَ وَطَوَاسِينَ وَالْحَوَامِيمَ مِنْ أَلْوَاحِ مُوسَى وَأُعْطِيتُ فَاتِحَةَ الْكِتَابِ مِنْ تَحْتِ الْعَرْشِ»
✧ Act upon the Qur'an, deem lawful what it makes lawful and deem unlawful what it makes unlawful, follow it, and do not disbelieve in any part of it. Whatever of it is unclear to you, refer it to Allah and to those in authority after me, so that they may inform you. Believe in the Torah, the Gospel, the Psalms, and what the prophets were given from their Lord. Let the Qur'an and the clear explanation in it suffice you, for it is an intercessor whose intercession is accepted, and whatever it declares lawful is confirmed. Every verse has a light on the Day of Resurrection. I was given Surah al-Baqarah from the earlier Reminder, and I was given Ta-Ha, the Tawasin, and the Hawamim from the Tablets of Moses, and I was given the Opening of the Book from beneath the Throne.

قَامَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيُّ الْعَمَلِ أَفْضَلُ؟ أَوْ أَيُّ الْعَمَلِ أَحَبُّ إِلَى اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ «الْحَالُّ الْمُرْتَحِلُ الَّذِي يَفْتَحُ الْقُرْآنَ وَيَخْتِمُهُ صَاحِبُ الْقُرْآنِ يَضْرِبُ مِنْ أَوَّلِهِ إِلَى آخِرِهِ وَمِنْ آخِرِهِ إِلَى أَوَّلِهِ كُلَّمَا حَلَّ ارْتَحَلَ»
✧ A man stood up to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, which deed is best? Or which deed is most beloved to Allah?' He said, 'The one who alights and departs: the one who opens the Qur'an and seals it. The companion of the Qur'an strikes from its beginning to its end, and from its end to its beginning. Whenever he alights, he departs.'

Jubayr recited to me {In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful} [al-Fatihah 1] the seventh verse. Sa'id b.
