إِيَّاكُمْ وَالظُّلْمَ، فَإِنَّ الظُّلْمَ ظُلُمَاتٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ، وَإِيَّاكُمْ وَالشُّحَّ، فَإِنَّهُ أَهْلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ، أَمَرَهُمْ بِالْقَطِيعَةِ فَقَطَعُوا أَرْحَامَهُمْ، وَأَمَرَهُمْ بِسَفْكِ الدِّمَاءِ فَسَفَكُوا دِمَاءَهُمْ ". فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَيُّ الْإِسْلَامِ أَفْضَلُ ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " إِنَّ أَفْضَلَ الْإِسْلَامِ: مَنْ سَلِمَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ مِنْ لِسَانِهِ وَيَدِهِ ".
✧ Beware of wrongdoing, for wrongdoing will be darknesses on the Day of Resurrection. And beware of miserliness, for it destroyed those before you: it commanded them to sever ties, so they severed their kinship ties, and it commanded them to shed blood, so they shed their blood.” A man stood up and said, “O Messenger of God, which Islam is best?” The Messenger of God ﷺ said, “The best Islam is that from whose tongue and hand the Muslims are safe.”

✧ We were forbidden to follow funerals, but it was not made emphatic upon us, and we were commanded to go out on the day of Fitr and the day of Adha, and that the women in seclusion and the menstruating women should go out, and the menstruating women should be kept away from the prayer place of the people, so that they may witness the gathering of the Muslims and their supplication.

ذُكِرَ زِيَادَةُ الْعُمُرِ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: لَا تُؤَخَّرُ نَفْسٌ إِذَا جَاءَ أَجَلُهَا، وَإِنَّمَا زِيَادَةُ الْعُمُرِ: الذُّرِّيَّةُ الصَّالِحَةُ يَرْزُقُهَا اللهُ الْعَبْدَ، فَتَدْعُو لَهُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ، فَيَلْحَقُهُ دُعَاؤُهُمْ فِي قَبْرِهِ، فَذَلِكَ زِيَادَةُ الْعُمُرِ
✧ An increase in lifespan was mentioned in the presence of the Messenger of God ﷺ, so the Messenger of God ﷺ said: “No soul is delayed when its term comes, and indeed the increase in lifespan is the righteous offspring whom God grants to the servant, who then supplicate for him after his death, and their supplication reaches him in his grave. That is the increase in lifespan.”

✧ The Prophet ﷺ passed by a group of people among whom was a man wearing khalūq perfume. He greeted them and turned away from the man. The man said to him: “O Messenger of God, you greeted them but turned away from me?” He replied: “Indeed, between your eyes is redness.”

مَنْ قَرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ ظَاهِرًا أَوْ نَظَرًا أُعْطِيَ شَجَرَةً فِي الْجَنَّةِ، لَوْ أَنَّ غُرَابًا أَفْرَخَ تَحْتَ وَرَقَةٍ مِنْهَا ثُمَّ أَدْرَكَ ذَلِكَ الْفَرْخُ فَنَهَضَ لَأَدْرَكَهُ الْهَرَمُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَقْطَعَ تِلْكَ الْوَرَقَةَ
✧ Whoever recites the Qur’an by heart or looking at the mushaf is given a tree in Paradise; if a crow were to hatch beneath one of its leaves and that hatchling then grew old, old age would overtake it before it could cut through that leaf.

✧ A Muslim man came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: “O Messenger of God, I bought a slave, so what should I do with him?” He said: “He is your brother in Islam. Do not burden him with work beyond his ability, feed him from your food, and clothe him from your clothing. If you dislike him, then sell him.”

When he came out, he said: “Who placed my ablution water for me?” She said: “My sister’s son, O Messenger of God, Ibn ‘Abbās.” He said: “O God, grant him understanding in the religion and teach him the interpretation.”

ثَلَاثٌ مَنْ جَاءَ بِهِنَّ مَعَ إِيمَانٍ دَخَلَ مِنْ أَيِّ أَبْوَابِ الْجَنَّةِ شَاءَ، وَزُوِّجَ مِنَ الْحُورِ الْعِينِ كَمْ شَاءَ: مَنْ أَدَّى دَيْنًا خَفِيًّا، وَعَفَا عَنْ قَاتِلِهِ، وَقَرَأَ فِي دُبُرِ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ مَكْتُوبَةٍ عَشْرَ مَرَّاتٍ: قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: أَوْ إِحْدَاهُنَّ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ؟ فَقَالَ: " أَوْ إِحْدَاهُنَّ ".
✧ Three things: whoever brings them along with faith will enter from whichever of the gates of Paradise he wishes, and will be married to as many houris as he wishes: whoever pays off a hidden debt, forgives his killer, and recites after every prescribed prayer ten times: “Say: He is Allah, the One.” Abu Bakr said: “Or one of them, O Messenger of Allah?” He said: “Or one of them.”

أَرَانِي أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ الْوُضُوءَ، أَخَذَ رِكْوَةً فَوَضَعَهَا عَنْ يَسَارِهِ، وَصَبَّ عَلَى يَدِهِ الْيُمْنَى فَغَسَلَهَا ثَلَاثًا، ثُمَّ أَدَارَ الرِّكْوَةَ عَلَى يَدِهِ الْيُمْنَى فَتَوَضَّأَ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا، وَمَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ ثَلَاثًا، وَأَخَذَ مَاءً جَدِيدًا لِسِمَاخِهِ فَمَسَحَ سِمَاخَهُ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: قَدْ مَسَحْتَ أُذُنَكَ، فَقَالَ: يَا غُلَامُ، إِنَّهُنَّ مِنَ الرَّأْسِ، لَيْسَ هُنَّ مِنَ الْوَجْهِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: يَا غُلَامُ هَلْ رَأَيْتَ وَفَهِمْتَ أَمْ أُعِيدُ عَلَيْكَ ؟ فَقُلْتُ: قَدْ كَفَانِيَ، وَقَدْ فَهِمْتُ، قَالَ: فَهَكَذَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَتَوَضَّأُ
✧ Anas b. Malik showed me the ablution. He took a small water vessel and placed it on his left side, and poured water on his right hand and washed it three times. Then he turned the vessel to his right hand and performed ablution three times three times, and wiped his head three times. He took fresh water for his ear canals and wiped his ear canals. I said to him: “You have wiped your ears.” He said: “O boy, they are part of the head, not part of the face.” Then he said: “O boy, did you see and understand, or should I repeat for you?” I said: “It is sufficient for me, and I have understood.” He said: “Thus I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ perform ablution.”

✧ Umm Salama said: “O Messenger of Allah, shall I go out with you to battle?” He said: “O Umm Salama, jihad has not been prescribed for women.” She said: “I will treat the wounded, tend the baggage, and give water to drink?” He said: “Then yes.”

✧ I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey while he was riding his mount, and it shied. I said: “O Messenger of Allah, what is wrong with your mount that it shied?” He said: “It heard the voice of a man being punished in his grave, so it shied because of that.”

بَيْنَمَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَسِيرُ إِذَا امْرَأَةٌ قَدْ أَقْبَلَتْ مَعَهَا ابْنٌ لَهَا، فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَلِهَذَا حَجٌّ ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، وَلَكِ أَجْرٌ قَالَتْ: فَمَا ثَوَابُهُ إِذَا وَقَفَ بِعَرَفَةَ ؟ قَالَ: " يُكْتَبُ لِوَالِدَيْهِ بِعَدَدِ كُلِّ مَنْ وَقَفَ بِالْمَوْقِفِ عَدَدُ شَعَرِ رُءُوسِهِمْ حَسَنَاتٌ
✧ While the Prophet ﷺ was traveling, a woman came with a son of hers and said: O Messenger of Allah, is there Hajj for this one? He said: "Yes, and for you is a reward." She said: What is his reward when he stands at 'Arafah? He said: "There will be written for his parents, for every person standing at the standing-place, the number of hairs on their heads, as good deeds."

✧ Allah accepts charitable gifts, and He accepts only what is good from them, and He takes it with His right hand, then nurtures it for its owner as one of you nurtures his colt or his young camel, until a morsel becomes like Mount Uhud.

✧ He was at a funeral and saw people walking without cloaks, and he said: "In my presence is this done? I considered supplicating against you with a supplication that you would walk in other than your forms." He said: After that, no one was seen walking without a cloak.

حَوْضِي مَا بَيْنَ أَيْلَةَ إِلَى صَنْعَاءَ، لَهُ مِيزَابَانِ، أَحَدُهُمَا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ وَالْآخَرُ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ، آنِيَتُهُ عَدَدُ نُجُومِ السَّمَاءِ، أَشَدُّ بَيَاضًا مِنَ اللَّبَنِ، وَأَحْلَى مِنَ الْعَسَلِ، وَرِيحُهُ أَطْيَبُ مِنَ الْمِسْكِ، مَنْ شَرِبَ مِنْهُ لَمْ يَظْمَأْ أَبَدًا
✧ My cistern is between Aylah and Sanʿāʾ. It has two spouts, one of gold and the other of silver. Its vessels are as numerous as the stars of the sky, whiter than milk, sweeter than honey, and its fragrance is more pleasant than musk. Whoever drinks from it will never thirst again.

✧ Do not hasten to anything that you think if you hasten to it you will attain it, and do not delay anything that you think if you delay it it will be averted from you, if God has decreed it upon you.

✧ The most thieving of people is the one who steals from his prayer. It was said: "O Messenger of God, how does he steal from his prayer?" He said: "He does not complete its bowing or its prostration. And the most miserly of people is the one who is miserly with the greeting of peace."

كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ، فَقَالَ لِرَجُلٍ مَعَهُ: هَذَا مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ فَلَمَّا حَضَرَ الْقِتَالُ قَاتَلَ أَشَدَّ الْقِتَالِ حَتَّى أَثْقَلَتْهُ الْجِرَاحَاتُ، فَجَاءُوا إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، فَقَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، الَّذِي زَعَمْتَ أَنَّهُ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ قَاتَلَ قِتَالًا شَدِيدًا، فَقَالَ: " أَمَا وَإِنَّهُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ "، فَلَمَّا آلَمَتْهُ الْجِرَاحَاتُ، نَالَ الْكِنَانَةَ، وَأَخْرَجَ سَهْمًا، فَانْتَحَرَ بِهِ، فَجَاءُوا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَدْ صَدَّقَ اللهُ قَوْلَكَ، إِنَّ الَّذِي أَخْبَرْتَنَا أَنَّهُ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ أَخْرَجَ مِنْ كِنَانَتِهِ سَهْمًا فَانْتَحَرَ بِهِ، فَأَمَرَ بِلَالًا يُنَادِي فِي النَّاسِ: " أَلَا إِنَّهُ لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ إِلَّا مُؤْمِنٌ، وَإِنَّ اللهَ يُؤَيِّدُ هَذَا الدِّينَ بِالرَّجُلِ الْفَاجِرِ ".
✧ We were with the Messenger of God ﷺ on the day of Khaybar, and he said about a man who was with him: "This one is from the people of the Fire." When the fighting began, he fought the fiercest fighting until wounds weakened him. They came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of God, the one you claimed was from the people of the Fire fought fiercely." He said: "Indeed, he is still from the people of the Fire." When the wounds pained him, he reached for his quiver, took out an arrow, and killed himself with it. They came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of God, God has confirmed your words. The one you told us was from the people of the Fire took an arrow from his quiver and killed himself with it." He ordered Bilāl to announce among the people: "Surely, none enters Paradise except a believer, and God supports this religion with a sinful man."

أَلَا أُعَلِّمُكُمُ الْكَلِمَاتِ الَّتِي تَكَلَّمَ بِهَا مُوسَى عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ حِينَ جَاوَزَ الْبَحْرَ بِبَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ ؟ " فَقُلْنَا: بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ: " قُولُوا: اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ، وَإِلَيْكَ الْمُشْتَكَى، وَأَنْتَ الْمُسْتَعَانُ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ الْعَظِيمِ ". قَالَ: فَمَا تَرَكْتُهُنَّ مُنْذُ سَمِعْتُهُنَّ مِنْ شَقِيقٍ وَقَالَ شَقِيقٌ: مَا تَرَكْتُهُنَّ مُنْذُ سَمِعْتُهُنَّ مِنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ، وَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ: مَا تَرَكْتُهُنَّ مُنْذُ سَمِعْتُهُنَّ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، قَالَ الْأَعْمَشُ: فَأَتَانِي آتٍ فِي مَنَامِي، فَقَالَ: " يَا سُلَيْمَانُ، زِدْ فِي هَؤُلَاءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ: وَنَسْتَعِينُكَ عَلَى فَسَادٍ هُوَ فِينَا، وَنَسْأَلُكَ صَلَاحَ أَمْرِنَا كُلِّهِ
✧ Shall I teach you the words that Moses ﷺ spoke when he crossed the sea with the Children of Israel?" We said: "Yes, O Messenger of God." He said: "Say: O God, to You belongs praise, and to You is the complaint, and You are the One sought for help, and there is no might and no power except with God, the Magnificent." He said: "I have not abandoned them since I heard them from Shaqīq." And Shaqīq said: "I have not abandoned them since I heard them from ʿAbd Allāh." And ʿAbd Allāh said: "I have not abandoned them since I heard them from the Messenger of God ﷺ." Al-Aʿmash said: "Then someone came to me in my sleep and said: 'O Sulaymān, add to these words: And we seek Your help against the corruption within us, and we ask You for the rectification of all our affairs.'"

✧ Love your beloved moderately, lest he become your enemy one day; and hate your enemy moderately, lest he become your beloved one day.

✧ When he ﷺ dispatched a raiding party, he would say: 'Raid in the name of God, in the path of God. Fight those who disbelieve in God. Do not steal from the spoils, do not act treacherously, and do not be cowards.'

مَنِ اغْتَسَلَ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ غُفِرَتْ لَهُ ذُنُوبُهُ وَخَطَايَاهُ، فَإِذَا أَخَذَ فِي الْمَشْيِ إِلَى الْجُمُعَةِ كَانَ لَهُ بِكُلِّ خُطْوَةٍ عَمَلُ عِشْرِينَ سَنَةً، فَإِذَا فَرَغَ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الْجُمُعَةِ أُجِيزَ بِعَمَلِ مِائَتَيْ سَنَةٍ ".
✧ Whoever performs the major ritual bath (ghusl) on Friday, his sins and errors are forgiven for him. Then when he begins walking to the Friday prayer, for every step he takes he receives the reward of twenty years of deeds. Then when he finishes the Friday prayer, he is rewarded with the deeds of two hundred years.

إِذَا طَلَبْتَ حَاجَةً فَأَحْبَبْتَ أَنْ تَنْجَحَ فَقُلْ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ، بِاسْمِ اللهِ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْحَلِيمُ، سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَ مَا يُوعَدُونَ لَمْ يَلْبَثُوا إِلا سَاعَةً مِنْ نَهَارٍ بَلاغٌ فَهَلْ يُهْلَكُ إِلا الْقَوْمُ الْفَاسِقُونَ كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوا إِلا عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَاهَا اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ مُوجِبَاتِ رَحْمَتِكَ، وَعَزَائِمَ مَغْفِرَتِكَ، وَالْغَنِيمَةَ مِنْ كُلِّ بِرٍّ، وَالسَّلَامَةَ مِنْ كُلِّ ذَنْبٍ، اللَّهُمَّ لَا تَدَعْ لِي ذَنْبًا إِلَّا غَفَرْتَهُ، وَلَا هَمًّا إِلَّا فَرَّجْتَهُ، وَلَا دَيْنًا إِلَّا قَضَيْتَهُ، وَلَا حَاجَةً مِنْ حَوَائِجِ الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ إِلَّا قَضَيْتَهَا بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ ".
✧ When you seek a need and you love that it succeed, then say: 'There is no god but God alone, with no partner, the Most High, the Magnificent. There is no god but God alone, with no partner, the Forbearing, the Generous. In the name of God, besides whom there is no god, the Ever-Living, the Forbearing. Glory be to God, Lord of the Mighty Throne. And praise be to God, Lord of the worlds. As if they, on the day they see what they are promised, will not have remained except an hour of a day. A notification. So will any be destroyed except the defiantly disobedient people? As if they, on the day they see it, will not have remained except an evening or its morning. O God, I ask You for that which necessitates Your mercy, and the determinations of Your forgiveness, and the spoils of every righteousness, and safety from every sin. O God, do not leave for me any sin but that You forgive it, nor any worry but that You relieve it, nor any debt but that You settle it, nor any need among the needs of this world and the Hereafter but that You fulfill it by Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.'
