    إِنَّ اللهَ وَعَدَنِي أَنْ يَدْخُلَ الْجَنَّةَ مِنْ أُمَّتِي أَرْبَعُمِائَةِ أَلْفٍ، فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: زِدْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ، وَهَكَذَا وَجَمَعَ كَفَّيْهِ. فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: حَسْبُكَ يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ، فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: دَعْنِي يَا عُمَرُ، وَمَا عَلَيْكَ أَنْ يُدْخِلَنَا الْجَنَّةَ كُلَّنَا ؟ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: إِنَّ اللهَ - تَعَالَى - لَوْ شَاءَ أَدْخَلَ خَلْقَهُ الْجَنَّةَ بِكَفٍّ وَاحِدَةٍ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: " صَدَقَ عُمَرُ

    ✧ Allah promised me that four hundred thousand of my nation will enter Paradise. Abu Bakr said: Increase for us, O Messenger of Allah. The Prophet ﷺ said: And like this—and he brought his palms together. Umar said: Enough for you, O Abu Bakr. Abu Bakr said: Leave me, O Umar; what harm would it be to you if He admitted us all to Paradise? Umar said: If Allah, Exalted is He, willed, He would admit His creation to Paradise with a single handful. The Prophet ﷺ said: Umar has spoken the truth.

    أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ مَرَّ بِنِسَاءٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فِي عُرْسٍ لَهُنَّ، وَهُنَّ يُغَنِّينَ: وَأَهْدَى لَهَا أَكْبُشًا تُبَحْبَحُ فِي الْمِرْبَدِ وَزَوْجُكِ النَّادِي وَيَعْلَمُ مَا فِي غَدِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: لَا يَعْلَمُ مَا فِي غَدٍ إِلَّا اللهُ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ

    ✧ The Prophet ﷺ passed by some women of the Ansar at a wedding of theirs while they were singing: And he gifted her rams that frolic in the pen, and your husband is in the assembly, and he knows what will be tomorrow. The Prophet ﷺ said: None knows what will be tomorrow except Allah, Mighty and Majestic.

    الْكَمْأَةُ مِنَ الْمَنِّ، وَمَاؤُهَا شِفَاءٌ لِلْعَيْنِ، وَالْعَجْوَةُ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ، وَهِيَ شِفَاءٌ مِنَ السُّمِّ ". وَقَالَ: وَنَعَتَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ عِرْقِ النَّسَا أَلْيَةَ كَبْشٍ، تُجَزَّأُ ثَلَاثَةَ أَجْزَاءٍ، ثُمَّ تُذَابُ، فَتُشْرَبُ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ جُزْءًا عَلَى الرِّيقِ

    ✧ Truffles are from manna, and their water is a cure for the eye, and ajwa dates are from Paradise, and they are a cure from poison. He also said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prescribed for sciatica the tail fat of a ram, divided into three parts, then melted and drunk each day one part on an empty stomach.

    صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى، فَإِذَا خَشِيتَ الصُّبْحَ فَأَوْتِرْ بِوَاحِدَةٍ

    ✧ Night prayer is two by two, and when you fear dawn, pray one rak'ah of witr.

    احْضُرُوا الْجُمُعَةَ، وَادْنُوا مِنَ الْإِمَامِ؛ فَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَكُونُ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ، فَيَتَأَخَّرُ عَنِ الْجُمُعَةِ فَيُؤَخَّرُ عَنِ الْجَنَّةِ، وَإِنَّهُ لَمِنْ أَهْلِهَا

    ✧ Attend the Friday prayer and draw near to the imam; for a man may be among the people of Paradise, yet he stays away from Friday prayer, so he is delayed from Paradise, though he is among its people.

    تَفْضُلُ صَلَاةُ الْجَمِيعِ عَلَى صَلَاةِ الْفَذِّ بِخَمْسٍ وَعِشْرِينَ صَلَاةً

    ✧ The prayer in congregation excels the prayer of an individual by twenty-five prayers.

    مَنْ ظَلَمَ أَخَاهُ بِمَظْلِمَةٍ فَلْيَتَحَلَّلْهُ الْيَوْمَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُؤْخَذَ مِنْ حَسَنَاتِهِ، لَيْسَ ثَمَّةَ دِينَارٌ، وَلَا دِرْهَمٌ؛ فَإِنْ كَانَ لَهُ عَمَلٌ صَالِحٌ أُخِذَ مِنْهُ بِقَدْرِ مَظْلِمَتِهِ، وَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ عَمَلٌ صَالِحٌ أُخِذَتْ مِنْ سَيِّئَاتِ صَاحِبِهِ، فَأُلْقِيَتْ عَلَيْهِ

    ✧ Whoever wrongs his brother in any way should seek to be absolved by him today, before it is taken from his good deeds. There will be no dinar or dirham then. If he has righteous deeds, an amount equivalent to his wrongdoing will be taken from them. If he has no righteous deeds, some of the evil deeds of his companion will be taken and cast upon him.

    كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا سَمِعَ اسْمًا قَبِيحًا غَيَّرَهُ، فَمَرَّ عَلَى قَرْيَةٍ يُقَالُ لَهَا عَفِرَةُ، فَسَمَّاهَا خَضِرَةَ

    ✧ When the Prophet ﷺ heard an ugly name, he would change it. He passed by a village called ʿAfirah and named it Khadirah.

    قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: أَلَا أُعَلِّمُكَ كَلِمَاتٍ إِذَا قُلْتَهُنَّ غُفِرَ لَكَ ؟ عَلَى أَنَّهُ مَغْفُورٌ لَكَ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ، سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ، الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

    ✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: Shall I not teach you some words which, if you say them, you will be forgiven, although you are already forgiven? They are: There is no god but Allah, the Forbearing, the Generous. There is no god but Allah, the Most High, the Magnificent. Glory be to Allah, Lord of the Mighty Throne. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

    فَنَاءُ أُمَّتِي بِالطَّعْنِ وَالطَّاعُونِ، قِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، هَذَا الطَّعْنُ عَرَفْنَاهُ، فَمَا الطَّاعُونُ ؟ قَالَ: " وَخْزُ أَعْدَائِكُمْ مِنَ الْجِنِّ، وَفِي كُلٍّ شَهَادَةٌ

    ✧ The passing away of my community will be by stabbing and the plague. It was said: O Messenger of Allah, we know the stabbing; what is the plague? He said: 'It is a jab from your enemies among the jinn, and in each there is martyrdom.'

    خَيْرُ قَرْنٍ الْقَرْنُ الَّذِي أَنَا فِيهِ، ثُمَّ الثَّانِي، ثُمَّ الثَّالِثُ، ثُمَّ الرَّابِعُ، لَا يَعْبَأُ اللهُ بِهِمْ شَيْئًا

    ✧ The best generation is the generation in which I am, then the second, then the third, then the fourth. Allah will not care about them at all.

    إِنَّ أَهْلَ الدَّرَجَاتِ الْعُلَى لَيَرَاهُمْ مَنْ هُوَ أَسْفَلُ مِنْهُمْ كَمَا تَرَوْنَ الْكَوْكَبَ الدُّرِّيَّ فِي أُفُقِ السَّمَاءِ، وَإِنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ لَمِنْهُمْ وَأَنْعَمَا

    ✧ The people of the lofty ranks will surely be seen by those below them as you see the brilliant star on the horizon of the sky. Abu Bakr and ʿUmar are among them and have been blessed.

    اللَّهُمَّ، اغْفِرْ لِلْأَنْصَارِ، وَلِأَزْوَاجِ الْأَنْصَارِ، وَلِذَرَارِيِّهِمْ، وَذَرَارِيِّ ذَرَارِيِّهِمْ

    ✧ O Allah, forgive the Ansar, the wives of the Ansar, their offspring, and the offspring of their offspring.

    سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: أَيُّ اللَّيْلِ أَجْوَبُ دَعْوَةً ؟ قَالَ: " جَوْفُ اللَّيْلِ

    ✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked: Which part of the night is most likely to have prayers answered? He said: 'The depths of the night.'

    سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ، فَقَالَ: إِنِّي لَأُحَدِّثُ نَفْسِي بِالشَّيْءِ لَوْ تَكَلَّمْتُ بِهِ لَأَحْبَطْتُ أَجْرِي، فَقَالَ: لَا يُلَقَّى ذَلِكَ الْكَلَامَ إِلَّا مُؤْمِنٌ

    ✧ She heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a man asked him: I sometimes say things to myself which, if I were to utter them, would nullify my reward. He said: 'No one is afflicted with such speech except a believer.'

    رَأَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَشْرَبُ مِنْ مَاءِ زَمْزَمَ قَائِمًا

    ✧ He saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ drink Zamzam water while standing.

    أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ فِي جُمُعَةٍ مِنَ الْجُمَعِ: مَعَاشِرَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، إِنَّ هَذَا يَوْمٌ جَعَلَهُ اللهُ لَكُمْ عِيدًا، فَاغْتَسِلُوا، وَعَلَيْكُمْ بِالسِّوَاكِ

    ✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said in one of the Friday sermons: 'O assembly of Muslims, this is a day which Allah has made a festival for you, so perform the ritual bath, and be diligent with the toothstick.'

    لَوْ يَعْلَمُ الْمَرْءُ مَا يَأْتِيهِ بَعْدَ الْمَوْتِ مَا أَكَلَ أَكْلَةً، وَلَا شَرِبَ شَرْبَةً إِلَّا وَهُوَ يَبْكِي وَيَضْرِبُ عَلَى صَدْرِهِ

    ✧ If a person knew what would come to him after death, he would not eat a single morsel or drink a single drink without weeping and striking his chest.

    كُنْتُ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، وَكَانَ إِذَا لَمْ يَحْفَظِ اسْمَ الرَّجُلِ قَالَ: " يَا ابْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ

    ✧ I was with the Prophet ﷺ, and when he did not remember a man's name he would say: “O son of Abd Allah.”

    قَرَنَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بَيْنَ الْحَجِّ وَالْعُمْرَةِ، وَطَافَ لَهُمَا طَوَافًا وَاحِدًا

    ✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ combined the Hajj and the Umrah, and performed a single tawaf for both of them.

    هَؤُلَاءِ لِهَذِهِ، وَهَؤُلَاءِ لِهَذِهِ، فَتَفَرَّقَ النَّاسُ وَهُمْ لَا يَخْتَلِفُونَ فِي الْقَدَرِ

    ✧ These are for this, and these are for this. Then the people dispersed, and they did not differ concerning the divine decree.

    إِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمُ الثَّقَلَيْنِ أَحَدُهُمَا أَكْبَرُ مِنَ الْآخَرِ: كِتَابُ اللهِ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - حَبْلٌ مَمْدُودٌ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ، وَعِتْرَتِي أَهْلُ بَيْتِي، وَإِنَّهُمَا لَنْ يَفْتَرِقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَا عَلَى الْحَوْضِ

    ✧ Indeed, I am leaving among you the two weighty things, one of which is greater than the other: the Book of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, a rope extended from the heaven to the earth, and my progeny, the people of my house. They will never separate until they return to me at the pond.

    فُرِضَتِ الصَّلَاةُ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، فَزِيدَ فِي صَلَاةِ الْمُقِيمِ، وَأُثْبِتَتْ صَلَاةُ الْمُسَافِرِ كَمَا هِيَ

    ✧ The prayer was prescribed as two rak'ahs, then an addition was made to the prayer of the resident, while the prayer of the traveller was kept as it was.

    ✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded the ghusl on Friday.

    كَانَ يُصْبِحُ جُنُبًا مِنْ غَيْرِ احْتِلَامٍ، ثُمَّ يَغْتَسِلُ، وَيَصُومُ

    ✧ He would wake up in a state of janabah without having had a wet dream; then he would perform ghusl and fast.

    أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ فِي النُّفَسَاءِ وَالْحَائِضِ: تَغْتَسِلُ، وَتُحْرِمُ، وَتَقْضِي الْمَنَاسِكَ كُلَّهَا إِلَّا الطَّوَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ حَتَّى تَطْهُرَ

    ✧ The Prophet ﷺ said regarding the woman in postnatal bleeding and the menstruating woman: she should perform ghusl, enter ihram, and perform all the rituals except the tawaf of the House until she becomes pure.

    ✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the mut'ah of women.

    صَبَبْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَغَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ، وَمَضْمَضَ، وَاسْتَنْثَرَ، وَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ، وَذِرَاعَيْهِ، وَمَسَحَ بِنَاصِيَتِهِ وَعَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ وَالْعِمَامَةِ

    ✧ I poured water over the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he washed his hands, rinsed his mouth, sniffed water into his nose, washed his face and his forearms, and wiped over his forelock, the two leather socks, and the turban.

    نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْجُمَّةِ لِلْحُرَّةِ وَالْعَقِيصَةِ لِلْأَمَةِ

    ✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade the hair bun for a free woman and the braided hair for a slave woman.

    إِذَا أَتَى أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَجْلِسَ فَلْيُسَلِّمْ، فَإِذَا قَامَ فَلْيُسَلِّمْ، فَلَيْسَتِ الْأُولَى بِأَحَقَّ مِنَ الثَّانِيَةِ

    ✧ When one of you comes to a gathering, let him greet with salam; and when he rises, let him greet with salam. The first is not more deserving than the second.

    رَأَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ رَجُلًا يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيِ الْفَجْرِ وَهُمْ يُصَلُّونَ صَلَاةَ الصُّبْحِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: أَيَّتُهُمَا جَعَلْتَ صَلَاتَكَ ؟

    ✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw a man praying the two rakʿahs of Fajr while they were performing the Morning Prayer, so the Prophet ﷺ said to him: “Which of them have you made your prayer?”

    سُئِلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: مَا حَقُّ الْإِبِلِ ؟ فَقَالَ: أَنْ تَنْحَرَ سَمِينَهَا، وَتُطْرِقَ فَحْلَهَا، وَتَحْلُبَهَا يَوْمَ وِرْدِهَا

    ✧ The Prophet ﷺ was asked: “What is the right of camels?” He said: “That you slaughter their fat ones, lend their stud males, and milk them on the day they come to water.”

    لَيْسَ بَيْنَ الْعَبْدِ وَبَيْنَ الْكُفْرِ إِلَّا تَرْكُ الصَّلَاةِ

    ✧ There is nothing between a servant and disbelief except abandoning the prayer.

    فِي قَوْلِهِ - جَلَّ وَعَزَّ -: إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا، قَالَ: نَزَلَتْ فِي خَمْسَةٍ: فِي رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، وَعَلِيٍّ، وَفَاطِمَةَ، وَالْحَسَنِ، وَالْحُسَيْنِ

    ✧ Regarding His saying, exalted and glorified be He: “Allah intends only to remove from you the impurity, O people of the household, and to purify you with a thorough purification,” he said: “It was revealed concerning five: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, ʿAlī, Fāṭimah, al-Ḥasan, and al-Ḥusayn.”

    إِنِّي تَارِكٌ فِيكُمُ الثَّقَلَيْنِ، مَا إِنْ تَمَسَّكْتُمْ بِهِ لَنْ تَضِلُّوا كِتَابَ اللهِ وَعِتْرَتِي، وَإِنَّهُمَا لَنْ يَفْتَرِقَا حَتَّى يَرِدَا عَلَى الْحَوْضِ

    ✧ I am leaving among you the two weighty things; if you hold fast to them you will never go astray: the Book of Allah and my progeny. They will never separate until they return to me at the Ḥawḍ.

    رُفِعَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ رَجُلٌ طَعَنَ رَجُلًا عَلَى فَخِذِهِ بِقَرْنٍ، فَقَالَ الَّذِي طُعِنَتْ فَخِذُهُ: أَقِدْنِي يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: دَاوِهَا وَاسْتَأْنِ بِهَا حَتَّى نَنْظُرَ إِلَى مَا تَصِيرُ، فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَقِدْنِي، فَقَالَ لَهُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ: أَقِدْنِي يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَأَقَادَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، فَيَبِسَتْ رِجْلُ الرَّجُلِ الَّذِي أَقَادَهُ [ اسْتَقَادَهُ ] وَبَرِئَ رِجْلُ الرَّجُلِ الَّذِي اسْتُقِيدَ مِنْهُ، فَأَبْطَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ دِيَتَهَا

    ✧ A man was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who had stabbed another man in his thigh with a horn. The one whose thigh was stabbed said: “Grant me retaliation, O Messenger of Allah.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Treat it and wait with it until we see what becomes of it.” The man said: “O Messenger of Allah, grant me retaliation.” He said to him the same thing. The man said: “Grant me retaliation, O Messenger of Allah.” So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted him retaliation. Then the leg of the man who had been granted retaliation withered, while the leg of the man from whom retaliation had been taken healed. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ invalidated its blood money.

    جَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِدَاءَ أُسَارَى بَدْرٍ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ، كُلُّ رَجُلٍ مِنْهُمْ أَرْبَعَةُ آلَافٍ

    ✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ set the ransom for the captives of Badr from the polytheists at four thousand for each man.

    خِيَارُكُمْ مَنْ تَعَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ وَعَلَّمَهُ

    ✧ The best of you are those who learn the Qur’an and teach it.

    مَنْ خَرَجَ فِي طَلَبِ الْعِلْمِ فَهُوَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ

    ✧ Whoever goes out seeking knowledge is in the path of Allah until he returns.

    طَلَّقَنِي زَوْجِي ثَلَاثًا، فَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سُكْنَى، وَلَا نَفَقَةً

    ✧ My husband divorced me three times, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not grant me accommodation or maintenance.

    مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِي تَوَادِّهِمْ وَتَحَابُبِهِمْ مَثَلُ الْجَسَدِ إِذَا اشْتَكَى شَيْءٌ مِنْهُ تَدَاعَى سَائِرُهُ بِالسَّهَرِ وَالْحُمَّى، وَفِي الْجَسَدِ مُضْغَةٌ إِذَا صَلَحَتْ وَسَلِمَتْ سَلِمَ الْجَسَدُ، وَإِذَا فَسَدَتْ فَسَدَ لَهَا سَائِرُ الْجَسَدِ: الْقَلْبُ

    ✧ The likeness of the believers in their mutual love and affection is that of the body: when one part of it complains, the rest of it responds with sleeplessness and fever. In the body there is a morsel of flesh; if it is sound and safe, the body is safe, and if it is corrupt, the rest of the body becomes corrupt: the heart.

    اسْتَسْقَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَ: اللَّهُمَّ اسْقِنَا، فَقَالَ أَبُو لُبَابَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمُنْذِرِ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ التَّمْرَ فِي الْمَرَابِدِ، فَقَالَ: " اللَّهُمَّ اسْقِنَا حَتَّى يَقُومَ أَبُو لُبَابَةَ عُرْيَانًا، فَيَسُدَّ ثَعْلَبَ مِرْبَدِهِ بِإِزَارِهِ "، وَمَا يُرَى فِي السَّمَاءِ سَحَابٌ فَأَمْطَرَتْ، فَاجْتَمَعُوا إِلَى أَبِي لُبَابَةَ، فَقَالُوا: إِنَّهَا لَنْ تُقْلِعَ حَتَّى تَقُومَ عُرْيَانًا، فَتَسُدَّ ثَعْلَبَ مِرْبَدِكَ كَمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، فَفَعَلَ، فَأَصْحَتِ السَّمَاءُ

    ✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed for rain, saying: “O Allah, give us water.” Abu Lubabah b. ʿAbd al-Mundhir said: “O Messenger of Allah, the dates are in the drying yards.” He said: “O Allah, give us water until Abu Lubabah stands naked and blocks the water outlet of his drying yard with his waist-wrapper.” And there was not a cloud to be seen in the sky, but then it rained. They gathered around Abu Lubabah and said: “It will not stop until you stand naked and block the outlet of your drying yard as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said.” So he did it, and the sky cleared.

    أَصْبَحَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ خَاثِرُ النَّفْسِ، وَأَمْسَى وَهُوَ كَذَلِكَ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَا لِي أَرَاكَ خَاثِرًا ؟ فَقَالَ: إِنَّ جِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ وَعَدَنِي أَنْ يَأْتِيَنِي وَمَا أَخْلَفَنِي قَطُّ، فَنَظَرُوا فَإِذَا جَرْوُ كَلْبٍ تَحْتَ نَضَدٍ لَهُمْ، فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِذَلِكَ الْجَرْوِ، فَأُخْرِجَ وَأَمَرَ بِذَلِكَ الْمَكَانَ فَغُسِلَ بِالْمَاءِ، فَجَاءَ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ فَقَالَ: " إِنَّكَ وَعَدْتَنِي أَنْ تَأْتِيَنِي، وَمَا أَخْلَفْتَنِي قَطُّ "، قَالَ: أَمَا عَلِمْتَ أَنَّا لَا نَدْخُلُ بَيْتًا فِيهِ كَلْبٌ، وَلَا صُورَةٌ

    ✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ woke up in a gloomy state of mind, and he remained so until evening. I said: “O Messenger of Allah, why do I see you gloomy?” He said: “Jibril ﷺ promised to come to me and has never broken his promise to me.” They looked and found a puppy under a bed of theirs. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered that puppy to be taken out, and he ordered that place to be washed with water. Then Jibril ﷺ came and said: “You promised to come to me and did not break your promise to me.” He said: “Did you not know that we do not enter a house in which there is a dog or an image?”

    لَمَّا بَعَثَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ الْعَلَاءَ الْحَضْرَمِيَّ إِلَى الْبَحْرَيْنِ تَبِعْتُهُ، فَرَأَيْتُ مِنْهُ ثَلَاثَ خِصَالٍ لَا أَدْرِي أَيَّتَهُنَّ أَعْجَبُ، انْتَهَيْنَا إِلَى شَاطِئِ الْبَحْرِ، فَقَالَ: سَمُّوا اللهَ، وَاقْتَحِمُوا، فَسَمَّيْنَا، وَاقْتَحَمْنَا، فَعَبَرْنَا، فَمَا بَلَّ الْمَاءُ إِلَّا أَسَافِلَ خِفَافِ إِبِلِنَا، فَلَمَّا قَفَلْنَا، صِرْنَا مَعَهُ بِفَلَاةٍ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ، وَلَيْسَ مَعَنَا مَاءٌ، فَشَكَوْنَا إِلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: [ فَصَلَّى ] صَلَّوْا رَكْعَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ دَعَا اللهَ، فَإِذَا سَحَابَةٌ مِثْلُ التُّرْسِ، ثُمَّ أَرْخَتْ عَزَالِيَهَا، فَشَرِبْنَا، وَأَسْقَيْنَا، وَمَاتَ، فَدَفَنَّاهُ فِي الرَّمْلِ، فَلَمَّا سِرْنَا غَيْرَ بَعِيدٍ قُلْنَا: يَجِيءُ السَّبُعُ فَيَأْكُلُهُ، فَرَجَعْنَا، فَلَمْ نَرَهُ

    ✧ When the Prophet ﷺ sent al-‘Ala’ al-Hadrami to al-Bahrayn, I followed him, and I saw from him three qualities, and I do not know which of them is more astonishing. We reached the shore of the sea, and he said, 'Invoke the name of God and plunge in.' So we invoked the name, and we plunged in, and we crossed, and the water only moistened the lower parts of our camels’ hooves. When we returned, we found ourselves with him in a desolate stretch of land, and we had no water with us. We complained to him, and he said, 'Pray two rak‘ahs,' then he supplicated to God, and behold, a cloud like a shield appeared, then it let down its spouts, and we drank and gave water to others. Then he died, and we buried him in the sand. After we had traveled not far, we said, 'A wild beast will come and eat him,' so we returned, and we did not see him.

    مَا مِنْ كِتَابٍ يُلْقَى بِمَضِيعَةٍ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا بَعَثَ اللهُ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - إِلَيْهِ مَلَائِكَةً يَحُفُّونَهُ بِأَجْنِحَتِهِمْ وَيُقَدِّسُونَهُ حَتَّى يَبْعَثَ اللهُ إِلَيْهِ وَلِيًّا مِنْ أَوْلِيَائِهِ، فَيَرْفَعَهُ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ، وَمَنْ رَفَعَ كِتَابًا مِنَ الْأَرْضِ فِيهِ اسْمٌ مِنْ أَسْمَاءِ اللهِ - تَعَالَى - رَفَعَ اللهُ اسْمَهُ فِي عِلِّيِّينَ، وَخَفَّفَ عَنْ وَالِدَيْهِ الْعَذَابَ، وَإِنْ كَانَا كَافِرَيْنِ

    ✧ There is no writing that is thrown away in a desolate place on earth but that God, Mighty and Majestic, sends angels to it who surround it with their wings and sanctify it until God sends to it one of His close servants, and he lifts it from the ground. And whoever lifts from the ground a writing containing one of the names of God, Exalted be He, God raises his name in ‘Illiyyin and lightens the punishment for his parents, even if they were disbelievers.

    ✧ O Muhammad, when you see people fighting over worldly things, then take your sword to the greatest rock in the Haram and strike it with it until it breaks, then sit in your house until a sinful hand comes to you or a decisive death.' So I did what the Messenger of God ﷺ commanded me.

    ✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ came out to us and said, 'Take your shield.' We said, 'O Messenger of God, is it from an enemy that has come?' He said, 'Take your shield from the Fire. Say: Glory be to God, and praise be to God, and there is no god but God, and God is greatest, and there is no might and no power except with God; for they will come on the Day of Resurrection preceding and following and saving, and they are the enduring good deeds.'

    ✧ The fragrance of Paradise can be scented from a distance of five hundred years, but the one who reminds others of his favors, the one addicted to wine, and the one who is disobedient to his parents will not smell it.

    ✧ I was among the captives on the day of Badr. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Treat the captives well.' I was with a group of the Ansar, and whenever they presented their lunch or dinner, they would eat the dates and feed me the bread, following the instruction of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to them.

    ✧ Two things will not be combined in the Fire in a way that harms either of them: a Muslim who kills a disbeliever and then remains upright and does good. And two things will not be combined in the heart of a believer: dust in the path of Allah and the scorching heat of Hell. And two things will not be combined in the heart of a believer: faith and envy.

    كَانَ الْعَبَّاسُ عَمُّ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِيمَنْ يَحْرُسُهُ، فَلَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ: يَا أَيُّهَا الرَّسُولُ بَلِّغْ مَا أُنْـزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَبِّكَ وَإِنْ لَمْ تَفْعَلْ فَمَا بَلَّغْتَ رِسَالَتَهُ وَاللهُ يَعْصِمُكَ مِنَ النَّاسِ، تَرَكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْحَرَسَ

    ✧ Al-Abbas, the uncle of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, was among those who guarded him. When this verse was revealed: 'O Messenger, convey what has been sent down to you from your Lord. If you do not, then you have not conveyed His message. Allah will protect you from the people,' the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stopped having guards.

    ✧ If the one passing in front of a man while he is praying knew what is upon him, it would be better for him to stand for a year than to take that step.

    غَزَوْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَصَبْنَا حَمْرَاءَ مِنْ حُمُرِ الْيَهُودِ، فَذَبَحْنَاهَا، وَطَبَخْنَاهَا، فَأُخْبِرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَمَرَ مُنَادِيًا، فَنَادَى فِي النَّاسِ: أَنَّ لُحُومَ حُمُرِ الْإِنْسِ لَا تَحِلُّ، حَرَّمَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَصَابُوا فِي حِيطَانِهَا بَصَلًا وَثُومًا، فَأَكَلُوا مِنْهَا وَالْقَوْمُ جِيَاعٌ، فَرَاحُوا، فَإِذَا رِيحُ الْمَسْجِدِ بَصَلٌ وَثُومٌ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " مَنْ أَكَلَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ الْخَبِيثَةِ، فَلَا يَقْرَبْنَا فِي مَسْجِدِنَا

    ✧ We went on a military expedition with the Messenger of God ﷺ and captured some red donkeys belonging to the Jews. We slaughtered them and cooked them, and the Messenger of God ﷺ was informed. He ordered a caller, who announced among the people that the flesh of domesticated donkeys is not lawful; the Messenger of God ﷺ forbade it. They also found onions and garlic in their gardens and ate from them while the people were hungry. Then they went to the mosque, and the smell of the mosque was of onions and garlic. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "Whoever eats from this foul plant, let him not come near us in our mosque."

    وَرَدَ عَلَيَّ كِتَابٌ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِيهِ: بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ، مِنْ مُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى زِيَادِ بْنِ جَهْوَرَ، سِلْمٌ أَنْتَ، فَإِنِّي أَحْمَدُ اللهَ إِلَيْكَ [ إِلَيْكَ اللهَ ] الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ، أَمَّا بَعْدُ، فَإِنِّي أُذَكِّرُكَ اللهَ وَالْيَوْمَ الْآخِرَ، أَمَّا بَعْدُ، فَلْيُوضَعَنَّ كُلُّ دِينٍ دَانَ بِهِ النَّاسُ إِلَّا الْإِسْلَامَ فَاعْلَمْ ذَلِكَ

    ✧ A letter came to me from the Messenger of God ﷺ, containing: In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. From Muhammad, the Messenger of God ﷺ, to Ziyad b. Jahwar: You are at peace, for I praise God to you, [to you God], besides whom there is no deity. To proceed: I remind you of God and the Last Day. To proceed: every religion that people have professed will be abandoned except Islam, so know that.

    الْأَئِمَّةُ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ أَبْرَارُهَا أُمَرَاءُ أَبْرَارِهَا، وَفُجَّارُهَا أُمَرَاءُ فُجَّارِهَا، وَلِكُلٍّ حَقٌّ، فَآتُوا كُلَّ ذِي حَقٍّ حَقَّهُ، وَإِنْ أُمِّرَ عَلَيْكُمْ عَبْدٌ حَبَشِيٌّ مُجَدَّعٌ، فَاسْمَعُوا لَهُ وَأَطِيعُوا مَا لَمْ يُخَيَّرْ أَحَدُكُمْ بَيْنَ إِسْلَامِهِ وَبَيْنَ ضَرْبِ عُنُقِهِ، فَإِنْ خُيِّرَ بَيْنَ إِسْلَامِهِ وَبَيْنَ ضَرْبِ عُنُقِهِ فَلْيَمْدُدْ عُنُقَهُ ثَكِلَتْهُ أُمُّهُ، فَلَا دُنْيَا وَلَا آخِرَةَ بَعْدَ ذَهَابِ إِسْلَامِهِ [ دِينِهِ ]

    ✧ The leaders are from Quraysh: their righteous ones are rulers over their righteous, and their wicked ones are rulers over their wicked. Each has a right, so give everyone with a right his due. If an Ethiopian slave with mutilated limbs is appointed over you, listen to him and obey as long as none of you is forced to choose between his Islam and the striking of his neck. If he is forced to choose between his Islam and the striking of his neck, let him stretch forth his neck, may his mother be bereft of him, for there is no worldly life or Hereafter after losing his Islam [his religion].

    أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِقِطْعَةٍ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ كَانَتْ أَوَّلَ صَدَقَةٍ جَاءَتْهُ مِنْ مَعْدِنٍ، فَقَالَ: مَا هَذِهِ ؟ " قَالُوا: صَدَقَةٌ مِنْ مَعْدِنٍ لَنَا، فَقَالَ: " إِنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ مَعَادِنَ، وَسَيَكُونُ فِيهَا شَرُّ خَلْقِ اللهِ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ

    ✧ A piece of gold was brought to the Prophet ﷺ as the first charity that came to him from a mine. He said: "What is this?" They said: "Charity from a mine of ours." He said: "There will be mines, and in them will be the worst of God's creation, mighty and majestic is He."

    يَا كَعْبُ بْنَ عُجْرَةَ، إِنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ بَعْدِي أُمَرَاءُ وَصَفَهُمْ بِالْجَوْرِ، فَمَنْ دَخَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ فَصَدَّقَهُمْ بِكَذِبِهِمْ وَأَعَانَهُمْ عَلَى فُجُورِهِمْ فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي وَلَسْتُ مِنْهُ، وَلَا يَرِدُ عَلَيَّ الْحَوْضَ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَدْخُلْ عَلَيْهِمْ، وَلَمْ يُصَدِّقْهُمْ بِكَذِبِهِمْ، وَلَمْ يُعِنْهُمْ عَلَى فُجُورِهِمْ فَهُوَ مِنِّي وَأَنَا مِنْهُ، وَيَرِدُ عَلَى الْحَوْضِ، يَا كَعْبُ: حَقٌّ لِلَحْمٍ نَبَتَ مِنْ سُحْتٍ أَنْ لَا يَدْخُلَ الْجَنَّةَ، النَّارُ أَوْلَى بِهِ

    ✧ O Ka'b b. 'Ujrah, after me there will be rulers whom he described as unjust. Whoever enters upon them, believes their lies, and helps them in their wickedness is not of me and I am not of him, and he will not come to me at the Basin. Whoever does not enter upon them, does not believe their lies, and does not help them in their wickedness is of me and I am of him, and he will come to the Basin. O Ka'b: it is right that flesh that grew from ill-gotten gain should not enter Paradise; the Fire is more fitting for it.

    جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ أَبِي شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ، لَا يُطِيقُ الْحَجَّ، أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ ؟ قَالَ: أَكُنْتَ قَاضِيًا دَيْنًا لَوْ كَانَ عَلَيْهِ ؟ " فَقَالَ: نَعَمْ، فَقَالَ: " فَدَيْنُ اللهِ أَوْلَى. حُجَّ عَنْهُ

    ✧ A man came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of God, my father is an old man who cannot perform the pilgrimage; shall I perform it on his behalf?" He said: "Would you settle a debt if he owed one?" He said: "Yes." He said: "God's debt is more deserving. Perform the pilgrimage on his behalf."

    ✧ The knowledgeable ones among the family of Muhammad ﷺ, and A'ishah bt. Abi Bakr, knew — so ask her — that the companions of the black one with the breast-like protrusion are cursed upon the tongue of the Prophet ﷺ.

    كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي وَهُوَ حَامِلٌ أُمَامَةَ بِنْتَ أَبِي الْعَاصِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ وَهِيَ بِنْتُ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَإِذَا رَكَعَ وَضَعَهَا، وَإِذَا قَامَ حَمَلَهَا حَتَّى فَرَغَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ

    ✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ used to pray while carrying Umamah bt. Abi al-'As b. al-Rabi', and she was the daughter of Zaynab bt. the Messenger of God ﷺ. When he bowed, he would put her down, and when he stood, he would carry her, until he finished his prayer.

    صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ؓ صَلَاةً سَهَا بِنَا فِيهَا، فَسَجَدَ بَعْدَ السَّلَامِ، ثُمَّ الْتَفَتَ إِلَيْنَا، فَقَالَ: أَمَا إِنِّي لَمْ أَصْنَعْ إِلَّا كَمَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَصْنَعُ

    ✧ I prayed behind Anas b. Malik ؓ a prayer in which he was forgetful with us, so he prostrated after the salam. Then he turned to us and said: Indeed I did only as I saw the Messenger of God ﷺ do.

    شَكَوْنَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الرَّمْضَاءَ، فَلَمْ يُشْكِنَا، وَقَالَ: أَكْثِرُوا مِنْ قَوْلِ: لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ، فَإِنَّهَا تَدْفَعُ تِسْعَةً وَتِسْعِينَ بَابًا مِنَ الضُّرِّ أَدْنَاهَا الْهَمُّ وَالْفَقْرُ

    ✧ We complained to the Messenger of God ﷺ about the scorching ground, but he did not relieve us. He said: Say often: There is no might nor power except with God, for it repels ninety-nine doors of harm, the least of which are worry and poverty.
