✧ When the Prophet ﷺ sent al-‘Ala’ al-Hadrami to al-Bahrayn, I followed him, and I saw from him three qualities, and I do not know which of them is more astonishing. We reached the shore of the sea, and he said, 'Invoke the name of God and plunge in.' So we invoked the name, and we plunged in, and we crossed, and the water only moistened the lower parts of our camels’ hooves. When we returned, we found ourselves with him in a desolate stretch of land, and we had no water with us. We complained to him, and he said, 'Pray two rak‘ahs,' then he supplicated to God, and behold, a cloud like a shield appeared, then it let down its spouts, and we drank and gave water to others. Then he died, and we buried him in the sand. After we had traveled not far, we said, 'A wild beast will come and eat him,' so we returned, and we did not see him.
