✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ came out to us and said, 'Take your shield.' We said, 'O Messenger of God, is it from an enemy that has come?' He said, 'Take your shield from the Fire. Say: Glory be to God, and praise be to God, and there is no god but God, and God is greatest, and there is no might and no power except with God; for they will come on the Day of Resurrection preceding and following and saving, and they are the enduring good deeds.'

machine translationWe used to regard this as gharīb (a report with a single narrator), which Abū ʿUmar al-Ḥawḍī had narrated to us, until Aḥmad b. Yūnus narrated to us from Fuḍayl, meaning Ibn ʿIyāḍ, from Ibn ʿAjlān, from a man from the people of Alexandria, from the Prophet ﷺ. So I knew that it had been corrupted for ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. Muslim, and that his flaw had been exposed. The ḥadīth of Fuḍayl is more fitting.

machine translationThe statement of Abū Khālid al-Aḥmar is the most sound (aṣaḥḥ) of them.
