حَدَّثَنَا حَمْدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَمَدٍ أَبُو نَصْرٍ الْكَاتِبُ، حَدَّثَنَا كُرْدُوسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَلَّى بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ فُضَيْلِ بْنِ مَرْزُوقٍ، عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ الصُّوفِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ:

كَانَ الْعَبَّاسُ عَمُّ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِيمَنْ يَحْرُسُهُ، فَلَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ: يَا أَيُّهَا الرَّسُولُ بَلِّغْ مَا أُنْـزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِنْ رَبِّكَ وَإِنْ لَمْ تَفْعَلْ فَمَا بَلَّغْتَ رِسَالَتَهُ وَاللهُ يَعْصِمُكَ مِنَ النَّاسِ، تَرَكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْحَرَسَ

✧ Al-Abbas, the uncle of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, was among those who guarded him. When this verse was revealed: 'O Messenger, convey what has been sent down to you from your Lord. If you do not, then you have not conveyed His message. Allah will protect you from the people,' the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stopped having guards.
