24. Virtues of the Quran

  1. Sunan ad-Darimi 3349Hasan

✧ A man who has nothing of the Quran in his interior is like a ruined house.

  2. Sunan ad-Darimi 3350No grade recorded

✧ This Quran is Allah's banquet, so take from it what you can. I know nothing more devoid of good than a house in which there is nothing of Allah's Book, and the heart in which there is nothing of Allah's Book is ruined like the ruin of a house with no inhabitant.

  3. Sunan ad-Darimi 3351Sahih

✧ Learn this Quran, for you will be rewarded for its recitation: for every letter, ten good deeds. Indeed, I do not say that Alif Lam Mim is a letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter, and Mim is a letter, each letter ten good deeds.

  4. Sunan ad-Darimi 3352Sahih

✧ A house expands for its people, angels attend it, devils abandon it, and its good increases when the Quran is recited in it; and a house constricts for its people, angels abandon it, devils attend it, and its good decreases when the Quran is not recited in it.

  5. Sunan ad-Darimi 3353Weak

✧ «If the Quran were placed in a hide and then thrown into the fire, it would not burn.»

  6. Sunan ad-Darimi 3354Hasan

✧ I heard Abu Hurayrah say: Recite the Quran, for it is an excellent intercessor on the Day of Resurrection. It will say on the Day of Resurrection: O Lord, adorn him with the adornment of honor, so he will be adorned with the adornment of honor. O Lord, clothe him with the garment of honor, so he will be clothed with the garment of honor. O Lord, crown him with the crown of honor. O Lord, be pleased with him, for there is nothing after Your pleasure.

  7. Sunan ad-Darimi 3355Hasan

✧ The Quran comes to intercede for its companion, saying: "O Lord, for every worker there is wages from his work, and indeed I prevented him from pleasure and sleep, so honor him." It will be said: "Extend your right hand and you will be filled with the pleasure of Allah." Then it will be said: "Extend you left hand and you will be filled with the pleasure of Allah." And he will be dressed in the garment of generosity, adorned with the adornment of honor, and he will be crowned with the crown of honor.

  8. Sunan ad-Darimi 3356Accepted

✧ The Quran will intercede for its companion, and he will be clothed with the robe of honor. Then it will say: O Lord, give him more, so he will be crowned with the crown of honor. He said: Then it will say: O Lord, give him more, and give him more. He said: It will say: My pleasure.

  9. Sunan ad-Darimi 3357Accepted

✧ «Would any of you love, when he goes to his family, to find three fat pregnant she-camels?» They said: Yes, O Messenger of Allah. He said: «Then three verses that one of you recites are better for him than them.»

  10. Sunan ad-Darimi 3358Weak

✧ Indeed this Quran is the banquet of Allah, so learn from His banquet as much as you can. Indeed this Quran is the rope of Allah, the clear light, and the beneficial healing. It is a protection for whoever clings to it, and salvation for whoever follows it. It does not deviate so as to be corrected, nor does it become crooked so as to be straightened. Its wonders never cease, and it does not wear out from much repetition. So recite it, for Allah will reward you for its recitation: for every letter, ten good deeds. Indeed, I do not say that {Alif Lam Mim} [al-Baqarah 1] is one letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter, and Mim is a letter.

  11. Sunan ad-Darimi 3359Sahih

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood one day as a speaker, praised Allah and extolled Him, then said: O people, I am only a human being. It is near that the messenger of my Lord will come to me and I will answer him. I am leaving among you the two weighty things. The first of them is the Book of Allah, in which there is guidance and light, so hold fast to the Book of Allah and adhere to it. He urged them regarding it and encouraged them in it. Then he said: «And my household. I remind you of Allah concerning my household,» three times.

  12. Sunan ad-Darimi 3360Sahih

✧ This path is attended, and the devils attend it, calling out: O servants of Allah, this is the way. So hold fast to the rope of Allah, for the rope of Allah is the Quran.

  13. Sunan ad-Darimi 3361No grade recorded

✧ «Indeed the reciter of the Quran and the learner—the angels send blessings upon them until they finish the surah. So when one of you recites a surah, let him delay two verses from it until he finishes it at the end of the day, so that the angels send blessings upon the reciter and the teacher from the beginning of the day to its end.»

  14. Sunan ad-Darimi 3362Sahih

✧ «Recite the Quran, and do not let these hanging mushafs deceive you, for Allah will not punish a heart that has contained the Quran.»

  16. Sunan ad-Darimi 3364Sahih

✧ «There is no educator except that he loves his discipline to be followed, and indeed the discipline of Allah is the Quran.»

  17. Sunan ad-Darimi 3365Sahih

✧ «Indeed this Quran is the banquet of Allah, so whoever enters into it is safe.»

  18. Sunan ad-Darimi 3366Sahih

✧ Whoever loves the Quran, let him receive glad tidings.

  19. Sunan ad-Darimi 3367Sahih

✧ "Whoever loves the Quran, let him rejoice."

  20. Sunan ad-Darimi 3368Hasan

✧ The Quran will come on the Day of Resurrection and intercede for its companion, and it will be a guide for him to Paradise, and it will testify against him, and it will be a driver for him to the Fire.

  21. Sunan ad-Darimi 3369Weak

✧ "Indeed Allah has people from among mankind." It was said, "Who are they, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "The people of the Quran."

  22. Sunan ad-Darimi 3370Hasan

✧ On you is the Quran, for it is the understanding of the intellect, the light of wisdom, the springs of knowledge, and the most recent of books, bearing the promise of the Most Merciful. And it was said in the Torah, "O Muhammad, I have revealed to you a new Torah, in which blind eyes, deaf ears, and sealed hearts will be opened."

✧ "Indeed this Quran is a reward for you, and a reminder for you, and a burden upon you. Follow the Quran, and do not let the Quran follow you. For whoever follows the Quran, it will lead him to the gardens of Paradise, and whoever the Quran follows, it will push him from behind and cast him into Hell."

  24. Sunan ad-Darimi 3372Sahih

✧ Ali b. Abi Talib took me by the hand and said, "If you remain, the Quran will be recited by three groups: a group for Allah, a group for dispute, and a group for worldly gain. And whoever seeks by it, he will attain."

  25. Sunan ad-Darimi 3373Weak

✧ A man said to Abu al-Darda', "Your brothers from the people of Kufa, the people of remembrance, send you greetings of peace." He said, "And upon them be peace. Tell them to give the Quran their full attention, for it will carry them to moderation and ease, and keep them away from tyranny and hardship."

It is that which if any tyrant abandons it, Allah will break him, and whoever seeks guidance in other than it, Allah will lead him astray. It is the firm rope of Allah, and it is the wise reminder, and it is the straight path. It is that by which desires do not deviate, and tongues do not become confused, and scholars never have enough of it, and it does not become worn out by much repetition, and its wonders do not cease. It is that which the jinn did not finish hearing before they said, "Indeed we have heard a wonderful Quran" [Quran 72:1]. It is that by which whoever speaks it speaks truth, and whoever judges by it is just, and whoever acts upon it is rewarded, and whoever calls to it is guided to a straight path. Take it, O one-eyed.'"
