machine translationAl-Nawawī said in al-Adhkār and al-Khulāṣah that this ḥadīth of Abū Saʿīd is weak (ḍaʿīf). And he said in Sharḥ al-Muhadhdhab: Al-Nasāʾī narrated it in ʿAmal al-Yawm wa-l-Laylah with an odd (gharīb), weak chain; he narrated it as raised (marfūʿ) and as halted (mawqūf) from Abū Saʿīd, and both are weak. This is his wording. As for the raised version, it may be graded weak because of the discrepancy and irregularity (shudhūdh). As for the halted version, there is no doubt or uncertainty about its soundness, for al-Nasāʾī said regarding it: Muḥammad b. Bashshār narrated to us, Yaḥyā b. Kathīr narrated to us, Shuʿbah narrated to us, Abū Hāshim narrated to us. And Ibn Abī Shaybah said: Wakīʿ narrated to us, Sufyān narrated to us, from Abū Hāshim al-Wāsiṭī, from Abū Mijlaz, from Qays b. ʿAbbād, from him. These are narrators of the two Ṣaḥīḥs, so there is no sense in his ruling it weak.

machine translationIts being halted (mawqūf) is more sound (aṣaḥḥ).
