Did something happen in the house of the Messenger of Allah?" I said, "By Allah, a day has not passed upon us that is better than our day." He then put on his shoes and went out. I said, "If I prepare the house and sweep it, I will sweep under the bed." So I took the broom and went under the bed, and there was something heavy. I kept sweeping until I took it out, and it was a dead scorpion. I took it with my hand and threw it behind the house. Then the Messenger of Allah came hearing his beard quivering, and whenever he received revelation, his beard would quiver. He said, "O Khawla, cover me." So Allah revealed: "By the morning brightness, and by the night when it covers (the earth), your Lord has neither forsaken you nor hated you."
