حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ الْكُوفِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ عَنْ حُصَيْنِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ حُذَيْفَةَ عَنْ عَمَّتِهِ قَالَتْ
دَخَلْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَقَدْ حُمَّ فَاشْتَدَّتْ بِهِ الْحُمَّى فَقُلْتُ أَنْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَدِ اشْتَدَّتْ بِكَ الْحُمَّى فَلَوْ دَعَوْتَ اللهَ فَكَشَفَها عَنْكَ فَقَالَ «أَشَدُّ النَّاسِ بَلَاءً الْأَنْبِيَاءُ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ» قَالَتْ وَقَدْ عُلِّقَ لَهُ سِقَاءٌ عَلَى شَجَرَةٍ وَاضْطَجَعَ تَحْتَهُ وَالْمَاءُ تَقْطُرُ عَلَى فُؤَادِهِ
Translation

- ʿAlī b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz
✧ I entered upon the Prophet ﷺ when he had a fever, and the fever had become severe upon him. I said: “You, O Messenger of God, the fever has become severe upon you. If only you would call upon God, He would remove it from you.” He said: “The people most severely tried are the prophets, then those next to them.” She said: A waterskin had been suspended for him on a tree, and he lay down beneath it, with water dripping onto his heart.
