حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ وَعُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ قَالَا ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ زَائِدَةَ عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ حُذَيْفَةَ عَنْ عَمَّتِهِ قَالَتْ

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَقَدْ حُمَّ فَأَمَرَ بِسِقَاءٍ فَعُلِّقَ عَلَى شَجَرَةٍ ثُمَّ اضْطَجَعَ تَحْتَهُ فَجَعَلَ الْمَاءُ يَقْطُرُ عَلَى فُؤَادِهِ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَوْ دَعَوْتَ اللهَ فَكَشَفَ عَنْكَ فَقَالَ «إِنَّ مِنْ أَشَدِّ النَّاسِ بَلَاءً الْأَنْبِيَاءَ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ»

✧ I entered upon the Prophet ﷺ when he had a fever. He ordered a waterskin, and it was hung on a tree; then he lay down beneath it, and the water began to drip on his heart. I said to him, 'O Messenger of Allah, if only you would supplicate to Allah and He would remove it from you.' He said, 'Among the people most severely tried are the prophets, then those who follow them, then those who follow them.'
