✧ The Virtue of the Woman of Ka'b b. Malik

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ صَدَقَةَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ الْمُقَوِّمُ ثنا الْبَكْرَاوِيُّ ثنا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَمِيرَةَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ عَنْ زَوْجِ بِنْتِ أَبِي جَهْلٍ عَنْ بِنْتِ أَبِي جَهْلٍ قَالَتْ

مَرَّ بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَاسْتَسْقَى فَقُمْتُ إِلَى كُوزٍ فَسَقَيْتُهُ فَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ عَلَيْهِ ثَوْبَانِ أَخْضَرَانِ فَقَالَ «تَعْبُدُ اللهَ لَا تُشْرِكَ بِهِ شَيْئًا وَتُقِيمُ الصَّلَاةَ وَتُؤْتِي الزَّكَاةَ» قَالَ ثُمَّ قَالَ «خَيْرُ أُمَّتِي قَرْنِي ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ» وَهَمَ شُعْبَةُ فِي إِسْنَادِ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by us and asked for water. I went to a jug and gave him water to drink. A man wearing two green garments asked him, and he said, “Worship Allah, associating nothing with Him, establish prayer, and give zakāh.” Then he said, “The best of my ummah is my generation, then those who follow them.” Shuʿbah erred in the chain of this hadith.
