✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "O Allah, strengthen Islam with Umar b. al-Khattab." He had struck his sister at the beginning of the night while she was reciting: "Read in the name of your Lord who created" (Quran 96:1) until I thought he had killed her. Then he got up before dawn and heard her voice reciting: "Read in the name of your Lord who created." He said: "By Allah, this is not poetry or muttering." So he went until he came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and found Bilal at the door. He pushed the door. Bilal said: "Who is this?" He said: "Umar b. al-Khattab." He said: "Until I ask permission for you from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." Bilal said: "O Messenger of Allah, Umar is at the door." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "If Allah wills good for Umar, He will admit him into the religion." Then he said to Bilal: "Open." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ took hold of his upper arms, shook him, and said: "What do you want, and what have you come for?" Umar said to him: "Present to me what you call to." He said: "You testify that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger." Umar embraced Islam on the spot, and he said: "Go out."
