حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ثنا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مِينَا الْأَشْجَعِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ يَضْمَنُ لِي خَلَّةً فَأَضْمَنَ لَهُ الْجَنَّةَ؟» قُلْتُ أَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَالَ «لَا تَسْأَلِ النَّاسَ شَيْئًا» قَالَ «فَإِنْ كَانَ ثَوْبَانُ لَيَسْقُطُ سَوْطُهُ وَهُوَ عَلَى بَعِيرِهِ فَيَذْهَبُ الرَّجُلُ يُنَاوِلُهُ فَيُنِيخُ بَعِيرَهُ فَيَأْخُذُ سَوْطَهُ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Who will guarantee me one quality, and I will guarantee him Paradise?” I said: I will, O Messenger of Allah. He said: “Do not ask people for anything.” He (the narrator) said: “Indeed, Thawban’s whip would fall while he was on his camel, and a man would go to hand it to him, but he would make his camel kneel and take his whip himself.”
