✧ Whenever the Messenger of Allah ﷺ traveled, the last person of his household he would bid farewell to was Fatimah, and when he returned, the first person he would visit was her. He said: He arrived from a military expedition or journey of his, and behold, Fatimah had hung a cloth on her door and adorned al-Hasan and al-Husayn with two silver bracelets. He turned back. She thought he turned back only because of what he saw, so she removed the curtain and removed the bracelets from the two boys and cut them off, then gave them to the two boys. They came to the Prophet ﷺ crying, and he said, “O Thawban, take these two and go with them to a household in Madinah” – I think he said – “who are needy, for these are my household, and I dislike that they consume their good things in their worldly life.” Then he said, “O Thawban, buy for Fatimah a necklace of ‘asab (beads) and two bracelets of ivory.”
