حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَبِيبٍ يَحْيَى بْنُ نَافِعٍ الْمِصْرِيُّ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

أَنَّ عَمْرَو بْنَ حَبِيبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ شَمْسٍ جَاءَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي سَرَقْتُ جَمَلًا لِبَنِي فُلَانٍ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهِمُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالُوا إِنَّا افْتَقَدْنَا جَمَلًا لَنَا «فَأَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقُطِعَتْ يَدُهُ» قَالَ ثَعْلَبَةُ أَنَا انْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ حِينَ وَقَعَتْ يَدُهُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ الْحَمْدُ للَّهِ الَّذِي طَهِّرْنِي بِكَ أَرَدْتُ أَنْ تُدْخِلَ جَسَدِي النَّارَ

✧ That 'Amr b. Habib b. 'Abd Shams came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of God, I stole a camel belonging to Banu So-and-so." The Prophet ﷺ sent to them, and they said, "We have indeed missed a camel of ours." The Prophet ﷺ ordered, and his hand was cut off. Tha'labah said: I was looking at him when his hand fell, and he was saying, "Praise be to God who purified me through you. I wanted you to enter my body into the Fire."
