حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ النَّصْرِ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ هِلَالٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حِمْيَرٍ عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ خُصَيْفَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ ثَوْبَانَ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ رَأَيْتُمُوهُ يَنْشُدُ شِعْرًا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَقُولُوا فَضَّ اللهُ فَاكَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَمَنْ رَأَيْتُمُوهُ يَنْشُدُ ضَالَّةً فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَقُولُوا لَا وَجَدْتَهَا ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَمَنْ رَأَيْتُمُوهُ يَبِيعُ ويَبْتَاعُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَقُولُوا لَا أَرْبَحَ اللهُ تِجَارَتَكَ كَذَلِكَ قَالَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, “Whoever you see reciting poetry in the mosque, say to him, ‘May Allah break your mouth,’ three times; and whoever you see announcing a lost item in the mosque, say to him, ‘May you not find it,’ three times; and whoever you see buying and selling in the mosque, say to him, ‘May Allah not make your trade profitable.’” Thus the Messenger of Allah ﷺ instructed us.
