حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ متويهِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا يَمَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ ثنا أَشْعَثُ بْنُ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ وَرْقَاءَ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ وَهْبٍ عَنْ ثَابِتِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أُتِيَ بِضَبٍّ قَدْ شُوِيَ فَأَخَذَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عُودًا فَجَعَلَ يَعُدُّ أَصَابِعَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ «أُمَّةٌ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ مُسِخَتْ دَوَابَّ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَإِنِّي لَا أَدْرِي أَيَّ دَوَابَّ هِيَ» فَلَمْ يَأْكُلْ مِنْهُ وَلَمْ يَنْهُ عَنْهُ

✧ A roasted lizard was brought to the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ took a stick and began counting its toes, then said: "A nation of the Children of Israel was transformed into beasts on the earth, and I do not know which beasts they are." So he did not eat from it, nor did he forbid it.
