" إِنَّ اللهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى يَنْزِلُ فِي ثَلَاثِ سَاعَاتٍ بَقِينَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَيَفْتَحُ الذِّكْرَ السَّاعَةَ الْأُولَى الَّذِي لَمْ يَرَهُ أَحَدٌ غَيْرُهُ، فَيَمْحُو اللهُ مَا يَشَاءُ وَيُثْبِتُ مَا يَشَاءُ، ثُمَّ يَنْزِلُ السَّاعَةَ الثَّانِيَةَ إِلَى جَنَّةِ عَدْنٍ، وَهِيَ الَّتِي لَمْ يَرَهَا غَيْرُهُ وَلَمْ تَخْطُرْ عَلَى قَلْبِ بَشَرٍ، لَا يَسْكُنُهَا مَعَهُ مِنْ بَنِي آدَمَ غَيْرُ ثَلَاثَةٍ: النَّبِيِّينَ وَالصِّدِّيقِينَ وَالشُّهَدَاءِ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ: طُوبَى لِمَنْ دَخَلَكِ، ثُمَّ يَنْزِلُ فِي السَّاعَةِ الثَّالِثَةِ إِلَى سَمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا فَيَقُولُ: أَلَا مُسْتَغْفِرٌ فَيَسْتَغْفِرُنِي فَأَغْفِرَ لَهُ، أَلَا مِنْ سَائِلٍ يَسْأَلُنِي فَأُعْطِيَهُ، أَلَا مِنْ دَاعٍ يَدْعُونِي فَأُجِيبَهُ حَتَّى تَكُونَ صَلَاةُ الْفَجْرِ، وَكَذَلِكَ يَقُولُ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: وَقُرْآنَ الْفَجْرِ إِنَّ قُرْآنَ الْفَجْرِ كَانَ مَشْهُودًا، قَالَ: تَشْهَدُهُ مَلَائِكَةُ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ
✧ Indeed, Allah, Blessed and Exalted, descends in three hours remaining from the night, and He opens the remembrance in the first hour, which no one has seen except Him. So Allah erases what He wills and confirms what He wills. Then He descends in the second hour to the Garden of Eden, which no one has seen except Him and no human heart has imagined, and none of the children of Adam will dwell with Him therein except three: the prophets, the truthful ones, and the martyrs. Then He says: 'Blessed is the one who enters you.' Then He descends in the third hour to the lowest heaven and says: 'Is there any seeker of forgiveness that I may forgive him? Is there any asker who asks Me that I may give him? Is there any caller who calls upon Me that I may answer him?' until the dawn prayer. And likewise Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says: 'And the recitation of dawn, indeed the recitation of dawn is witnessed.' He said: 'The angels of the night and the day witness it.'

" رَبَّنَا الَّذِي فِي السَّمَاءِ تَقَدَّسَ اسْمُكَ، أَمْرُكَ فِي السَّمَاءِ وَالْأَرْضِ، كَمَا رَحْمَتُكَ فِي السَّمَاءِ، اجْعَلْ رَحْمَتَكَ فِي الْأَرْضِ، اغْفِرْ لَنَا حُوبَنَا وَخَطَايَانَا أَنْتَ رَبُّ الطَّيِّبِينَ، أَنْزِلْ رَحْمَةً مِنْ رَحْمَتِكَ عَلَى هَذَا الْوَجَعِ "، فَقَالَاهَا فَبَرِئَا
✧ Our Lord who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your command is in heaven and the earth. As Your mercy is in heaven, place Your mercy in the earth. Forgive us our sins and our errors. You are the Lord of the good. Send down a mercy from Your mercy upon this pain. They said it, and they were cured.

أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَوَجَدْتُ جَمَاعَةً مِنَ الْعَرَبِ يَتَفَاخَرُونَ فِيمَا بَيْنَهُمْ، فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: " مَا هَذَا يَا أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ الَّذِي أَسْمَعُ ؟ " فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ هَذِهِ الْعَرَبُ تُفَاخِرُ فِيمَا بَيْنَهَا، فَقَالَ: رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: يَا أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ، إِذَا فَاخَرْتَ فَفَاخِرْ بِقُرَيْشٍ، فَإِذَا كَاثَرْتَ فَكَاثِرْ بِتَمِيمٍ، فَإِذَا حَارَبْتَ فَحَارِبْ بِقَيْسٍ، أَلَا إِنَّ وُجُوهَهَا كِنَانَةٌ وَلِسَانَهَا أَسَدٌ وَفُرْسَانَهَا قَيْسٌ، يَا أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ، إِنَّ لِلهِ فُرْسَانًا فِي سَمَائِهِ يُحَارِبُ بِهِمْ أَعْدَاءَهُ وَهُمُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ، وَلَهُ فُرْسَانٌ فِي أَرْضِهِ يُحَارِبُ بِهِمْ أَعْدَاءَهُ وَهُمْ قَيْسٌ يَا أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ، إِنَّ آخِرَ مَنْ يُقَاتِلُ عَنِ الْإِسْلَامِ حِينَ لَا يَبْقَى إِلَّا ذِكْرُهُ، وَمِنَ الْقُرْآنِ إِلَّا رَسْمُهُ لَرَجُلٌ مِنْ قَيْسٍ ". قَالَ: قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَيُّ قَيْسٍ ؟ قَالَ: " مِنْ سُلَيْمٍ
✧ I came to the Prophet ﷺ and found a group of Arabs boasting to one another. So I entered upon the Messenger of God ﷺ and he said: "What is this that I hear, O Abu al-Darda'?" I said: "O Messenger of God ﷺ, these Arabs are boasting to one another." The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "O Abu al-Darda', if you boast, then boast of Quraysh. If you vie in numbers, then vie with Tamim. If you wage war, then wage war with Qays. Indeed, its faces are Kinanah, its tongue is Asad, and its horsemen are Qays. O Abu al-Darda', God has horsemen in His heaven with whom He fights His enemies, and they are the angels. And He has horsemen on His earth with whom He fights His enemies, and they are Qays. O Abu al-Darda', the last to fight for Islam, when nothing remains of it but its mention and of the Qur'an but its script, will be a man from Qays." He said: I said: "O Messenger of God ﷺ, which Qays?" He said: "From Sulaym."

أَبْصَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَنَا أُحَرِّكُ شَفَتَيَّ، فَقَالَ: " يَا أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ مَا تَقُولُ ؟ " قُلْتُ: أَذْكُرُ اللهَ، قَالَ: أُعَلِّمُكَ شَيْئًا هُوَ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ ذِكْرِ اللهِ اللَّيْلَ مَعَ النَّهَارِ وَالنَّهَارَ مَعَ اللَّيْلِ " قُلْتُ: بَلَى، قَالَ: " قُلْ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ عَدَدَ مَا خَلَقَ، وَسُبْحَانَ اللهِ مِلْءَ مَا خَلَقَ، وَسُبْحَانَ اللهِ عَدَدَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ، وَسُبْحَانَ اللهِ مِلْءَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ، وَسُبْحَانَ اللهِ عَدَدَ مَا أَحْصَى كِتَابُهُ، وَسُبْحَانَ اللهِ مِلْءَ مَا أَحْصَى كِتَابُهُ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلهِ عَدَدَ مَا خَلَقَ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلهِ مِلْءَ مَا خَلَقَ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلهِ مِلْءَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلهِ عَدَدَ مَا أَحْصَى كِتَابُهُ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلهِ مِلْءَ مَا أَحْصَى كِتَابُهُ
✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ saw me while I was moving my lips, so he said: "O Abu al-Darda', what are you saying?" I said: "I am remembering God." He said: "Shall I teach you something better than the remembrance of God night with day and day with night?" I said: "Yes." He said: "Say: 'Glory be to God as many times as the number of what He has created, glory be to God as much as fills what He has created, glory be to God as many times as the number of everything, glory be to God as much as fills everything, glory be to God as many times as the number of what His Book has counted, glory be to God as much as fills what His Book has counted, praise be to God as many times as the number of what He has created, praise be to God as much as fills what He has created, praise be to God as much as fills everything, praise be to God as many times as the number of what His Book has counted, praise be to God as much as fills what His Book has counted.'"

" إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ إِذَا لَعَنَ شَيْئًا صَعِدَتِ اللَّعْنَةُ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فَغُلِّقَتْ أَبْوَابُهَا دُونَهَا، ثُمَّ تَهْبِطُ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ فَتُغْلَقُ أَبْوَابُهَا دُونَهَا، ثُمَّ تَأْخُذُ يَمِينًا وَشِمَالًا، فَإِذَا لَمْ تَجِدْ مَسَاغًا رَجَعَتْ إِلَى الَّذِي لَعَنَ، فَإِنْ كَانَ لِذَلِكَ أَهْلًا وَإِلَّا رَجَعَتْ إِلَى قَائِلِهَا
✧ "When a person curses something, the curse ascends to heaven but its gates are closed before it. Then it descends to the earth, and its gates are closed before it. Then it goes right and left. When it finds no passage, it returns to the one who was cursed, if he is deserving of it; otherwise it returns to its speaker."

✧ "What God has made lawful in His Book is lawful, what He has made unlawful is unlawful, and what He has remained silent about is pardoned. So accept from God His pardon, for God would never forget anything." Then he recited this verse: 'And your Lord is never forgetful' (Maryam 19:64).

" إِنَّ اللهَ يَقُولُ لِعِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ إِنِّي بَاعِثٌ مِنْ بَعْدِكَ أُمَّةً إِنْ أَصَابَهُمْ مَا يُحِبُّوا حَمِدُوا وَشَكَرُوا وَإِنْ أَصَابَهُمْ مَا يَكْرَهُونَ احْتَسَبُوا وَصَبَرُوا، وَلَا حِلْمَ وَلَا عِلْمَ، قَالَ: يَا رَبِّ كَيْفَ هَذَا وَلَا حِلْمَ وَلَا عِلْمَ، قَالَ: أُعْطِيهِمْ مِنْ حِلْمِي وَعِلْمِي
✧ "God says to Jesus son of Mary: 'I will raise up after you a nation who, if what they love befalls them, praise and give thanks; and if what they dislike befalls them, seek reward and are patient, though they have no forbearance and no knowledge.' He said: 'O Lord, how can this be when they have no forbearance and no knowledge?' He said: 'I will give them from My forbearance and My knowledge.'"

✧ "David used to say: 'O God, I ask You for Your love and the love of those who love You, and for the deed that will bring me to Your love. O God, make Your love dearer to me than my family and cold water.'" And when the Messenger of God ﷺ mentioned David ﷺ, he said: "He was the most devout of human beings."

✧ I was with Abu al-Darda when a man from the people of al-Madinah entered and asked him, saying: "Where did you leave Abu Dharr?" Abu al-Darda said: "Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Him we shall return. If Abu Dharr had cut off a limb from me, I would not have provoked him because of what I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say about him."

✧ I heard him swear by Allah, and I had never heard him swear about anything before that. He said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Indeed, Allah has chosen for you the best of speech, four phrases: Glory be to Allah, praise be to Allah, there is no god but Allah, and Allah is most great.'"

قَحَطَ الْمَطَرُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَسَأَلْنَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ أَنْ يَسْتَسْقِيَ لَنَا، فَاسْتَسْقَى، فَغَدَا نَبِيُّ اللهِ ﷺ فَإِذَا هُوَ بِقَوْمٍ يَتَحَدَّثُونَ، قَالُوا: سُقِينَا اللَّيْلَةَ بِنَوْءِ كَذَا وَكَذَا، فَقَالَ نَبِيُّ اللهِ: مَا أَنْعَمَ اللهُ عَلَى قَوْمٍ نِعْمَةً إِلَّا أَصْبَحُوا بِهَا كَافِرِينَ
✧ The rain withheld during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so we asked the Prophet of Allah to pray for rain for us. He prayed for rain, and in the morning the Prophet of Allah ﷺ went out and found some people talking. They said: "We were given rain last night by the rising of such-and-such a star." The Prophet of Allah said: "Allah does not bestow a blessing upon a people except that they wake up denying it."

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us with his head dripping, and he prayed with us in a single garment, wrapping himself in it, having crossed its two ends. When he finished, ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb said to him, "You pray in a single garment while there is [the impurity] in it?" He said, "Yes, I pray in it and [it still contains] that."

✧ The Prophet ﷺ passed by a dung heap of a people in which there was a dead lamb. He said, "Do its owners have any need of it?" They said, "O Prophet of Allah, if its owners had any need of it, they would not have discarded it." He said, "By Allah, the world is more insignificant to Allah than this lamb is to its owners, so let me not find it having destroyed any of you."

كُنْتُ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِذْ أَقْبَلَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ؓ آخِذًا بِطَرَفِ ثَوْبِهِ، قَدْ أَبْدَى عَنْ رُكْبَتِهِ، فَلَمَّا رَآهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: " أَمَّا صَاحِبُكُمْ - أَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ: - فَقَدْ خَامَرَ " فَأَقْبَلَ حَتَّى سَلَّمَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّهُ كَانَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ عُمَرَ شَيْءٌ فَأَسْرَعْتُ إِلَيْهِ، ثُمَّ إِنِّي نَدِمْتُ عَلَى مَا كَانَ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ أَنْ يَغْفِرَ لِي فَأَبَى، فَتَبِعْتُهُ إِلَى الْبَقِيعِ حَتَّى تَحَوَّزَ بِدَارِهِ مِنِّي فَأَقْبَلْتُ إِلَيْكَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: يَغْفِرُ اللهُ لَكَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ ثَلَاثَ مِرَارٍ، ثُمَّ إِنَّ عُمَرَ نَدِمَ حِينَ سَأَلَهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَنْ يَغْفِرَ لَهُ فَأَبَى عَلَيْهِ، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ مِنْ مَنْزِلِهِ حَتَّى أَتَى مَنْزِلَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَسَأَلَ: هَلْ ثَمَّ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ؟ قَالُوا: لَا نَعْلَمُ أَتَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، فَأَقْبَلَ عُمَرُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى سَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ، فَجَعَلَ وَجْهُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَتَمَعَّرُ حَتَّى أَشْفَقَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَنْ يَكُونَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى عُمَرَ مَا يَكْرَهُ، فَلَمَّا رَأَى ذَلِكَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ جَثَى عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ، وَقَالَ: أَنَا وَاللهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ كُنْتُ أَظْلَمَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، إِنَّ اللهَ بَعَثَنِي إِلَيْكُمْ فَقُلْتُمْ: كَذَبْتَ، وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: صَدَقْتَ، فَوَاسَانِي بِنَفْسِهِ وَمَالِهِ، فَهَلْ أَنْتُمْ تَارِكُو إِلَيَّ صَاحِبِي " ثَلَاثَ مِرَارٍ
✧ I was sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when Abu Bakr ؓ came along, holding the edge of his garment and having exposed his knee. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw him, he said: "As for your companion—I think he said:—he has become distressed." He came forward until he greeted the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, something happened between me and 'Umar, and I spoke harshly to him. Then I regretted what had happened, so I asked him to forgive me, but he refused. I followed him to al-Baqi' until he took refuge in his house from me, and then I came to you. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "May Allah forgive you, Abu Bakr," three times. Then 'Umar regretted it when Abu Bakr asked him to forgive him and he refused. He left his house and came to the house of Abu Bakr and asked: "Is Abu Bakr there?" They said: "We do not know; he went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." So 'Umar came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and greeted him. The face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ began to show displeasure, until Abu Bakr feared that something he disliked would come from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ toward 'Umar. When Abu Bakr saw that, he knelt down and said: "By Allah, O Messenger of Allah, I was the one who was more wrong." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "O people, Allah sent me to you, and you said: 'You have lied,' while Abu Bakr said: 'You have spoken the truth,' and he supported me with his own self and his wealth. So will you leave my companion to me?" three times.

قَامَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُصَلِّي فَسَمِعْنَاهُ يَقُولُ: " أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنْكَ "، ثُمَّ قَالَ: " أَلْعَنُكَ بِلَعْنَةِ اللهِ " ثَلَاثًا، ثُمَّ أَهْوَى بِيَدِهِ كَأَنَّهُ يَتَنَاوَلُ شَيْئًا، فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَدْ سَمِعْنَاكَ تَقُولُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ شَيْئًا لَمْ نَسْمَعْكَ تَقُولُهُ قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ، وَرَأَيْنَاكَ تَبْسُطُ يَدَكَ، قَالَ: إِنَّ عَدُوَّ اللهِ إِبْلِيسَ جَاءَ بِشِهَابٍ مِنْ نَارٍ لِيَجْعَلَهُ فِي وَجْهِي، فَقُلْتُ: أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنْكَ فَلَمْ يَسْتَأْخِرْ، ثُمَّ قُلْتُ لَهُ فَلَمْ يَسْتَأْخِرْ، ثُمَّ قُلْتُ لَهُ: لَعَنَكَ اللهُ بِلَعْنَةِ اللهِ التَّامَّةِ فَلَمْ يَسْتَأْخِرْ، ثُمَّ قُلْتُهَا فَلَمْ يَسْتَأْخِرْ، ثُمَّ قُلْتُهَا فَلَمْ يَسْتَأْخِرْ، ثُمَّ أَرَدْتُ أَنْ آخُذَهُ فَلَوْلَا دَعْوَةُ أَخِينَا سُلَيْمَانَ لَأَصْبَحَ مَرْبُوطًا يَلْعَبُ بِهِ وِلْدَانُ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood up to pray, and we heard him say: "I seek refuge in Allah from you." Then he said: "I curse you with the curse of Allah," three times. Then he reached out with his hand as if he was grabbing something. When he finished the prayer, they said: O Messenger of Allah, we heard you say something in prayer that we have not heard you say before, and we saw you extend your hand. He said: "The enemy of Allah, Iblis, came with a flame of fire to put it in my face. I said: I seek refuge in Allah from you, and he did not retreat. Then I said to him, and he did not retreat. Then I said to him: May Allah curse you with the complete curse of Allah, and he did not retreat. Then I said it again, and he did not retreat. Then I said it again, and he did not retreat. Then I intended to grab him, and were it not for the supplication of our brother Sulayman, he would have been tied up and the children of Madinah would have played with him."

And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Allah has finished with every servant regarding his lifespan, provision, resting place, and his traces."

✧ He passed by a woman who was far along in pregnancy at a tent belonging to a man, and he said: "Perhaps he intends to have illicit relations with her." They said: Yes. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "I was about to curse him with a curse that would enter his grave with him. How can he make him an heir while he is not lawful for him? How can he use him as a servant while he is not lawful for him?"

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا يُنْخَلُ لَهُ الدَّقِيقُ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ إِلَّا قَمِيصٌ وَاحِدٌ
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not have flour sifted for him, and he had only one shirt.

خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَنَحْنُ نَذْكُرُ الْفَقْرَ وَنَتَخَوَّفُهُ، فَقَالَ: آلْفَقْرَ تَخَافُونَ ؟! وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَتُصَبَّنَّ الدُّنْيَا عَلَيْكُمْ صَبًّا حَتَّى لَا تُرْفَعَ، وَايْمُ اللهِ لَأَتْرُكَنَّكُمْ عَلَى مِثْلِ الْبَيْضَاءِ لَيْلُهَا وَنَهَارُهَا سَوَاءٌ " فَقَالَ أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ: صَدَقَ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ تَرَكَنَا وَاللهِ عَلَى مِثْلِ الْبَيْضَاءِ لَيْلُهَا وَنَهَارُهَا سَوَاءٌ
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us while we were mentioning poverty and fearing it. He said: "Do you fear poverty? By the One in whose hand is my soul, the world will be poured upon you until it cannot be lifted. And by Allah, I will leave you upon the like of the white plain; its night and day are equal." Abu al-Darda said: "Allah and His Messenger spoke the truth. By Allah, he left us upon the like of the white plain; its night and day are equal."

✧ The superiority of prayer in the Sacred Mosque over others is one hundred thousand prayers, in my mosque a thousand prayers, and in the mosque of Jerusalem five hundred prayers.

" خَلَقَ اللهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى آدَمَ حِينَ خَلَقَهُ، فَضَرَبَ كَتِفَهُ الْيُمْنَى فَأَخْرَجَ ذُرِّيَّةً بَيْضَاءَ كَأَنَّهُمُ الذَّرُّ، وَضَرَبَ كَتِفَهُ الْيُسْرَى فَأَخْرَجَ ذُرِّيَّةً سَوْدَاءَ كَأَنَّهُمُ الْحُمَمُ، فَقَالَ: لِلَّذِي فِي يَمِينِهِ إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ وَلَا أُبَالِي، وَقَالَ لِلَّذِي فِي يَسَارِهِ: إِلَى النَّارِ وَلَا أُبَالِي
✧ When Allah, Blessed and Exalted, created Adam, He struck his right shoulder and brought forth white offspring like ants, and struck his left shoulder and brought forth black offspring like charcoal. Then He said to those on His right: 'To Paradise, and I do not care,' and to those on His left: 'To the Fire, and I do not care.'

" إِنَّكُمْ سَتُجَنِّدُونَ أَجْنَادًا جُنْدًا بِالشَّامِ وَمِصْرَ وَالْعِرَاقِ وَالْيَمَنِ قَالُوا: فَخِرْ لَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ. قَالَ: " عَلَيْكُمْ بِالشَّامِ " قَالُوا: إِنَّا أَصْحَابُ مَاشِيَةٍ وَلَا نُطِيقُ الشَّامَ، قَالَ: " فَمَنْ لَمْ يُطِقِ الشَّامَ فَلْيَلْحَقْ بِيَمَنِهِ فَإِنَّ اللهَ قَدْ تَكَفَّلَ لِي بِالشَّامِ
✧ You will be enlisted into armies: an army in Syria, Egypt, Iraq, and Yemen. They said: 'Choose for us, O Messenger of Allah.' He said: 'You must go to Syria.' They said: 'We are owners of livestock and cannot endure Syria.' He said: 'Whoever cannot endure Syria, let him join his Yemen, for Allah has guaranteed Syria for me.'

✧ The scholars are the heirs of the prophets. The prophets did not leave behind dinars or dirhams; they only left behind knowledge.

✧ Abu al-Qasim ﷺ enjoined me: not to associate anything with Allah even if I were burned; not to leave an obligatory prayer intentionally, for whoever leaves it intentionally has disbelieved; and not to drink wine, for it is the key to every evil.

جَلَسَ عُبَادَةُ وَأَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ إِلَى الْحَارِثِ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ، فَقَالَ أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ: أَيُّكُمْ يَذْكُرُ حِينَ صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى بَعِيرٍ مِنَ الْمَغْنَمِ، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ أَخَذَ وَبَرَةً مِنَ الْبَعِيرِ، فَقَالَ: مَا يَحِلُّ لِي مِمَّا أَفَاءَ اللهُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَلَا مِثْلُ هَذِهِ إِلَّا الْخُمُسُ، وَالْخُمُسُ مَرْدُودٌ فِيكُمْ
✧ Ubadah and Abu al-Darda sat with al-Harith b. Mu'awiyah. Abu al-Darda said: 'Which of you remembers when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed with us facing a camel from the spoils? When he finished, he took a hair from the camel and said: "Nothing of what Allah has granted you as spoils is lawful for me, not even the like of this, except the fifth, and the fifth is returned to you."'

نَزَلَ بِأَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ ضَيْفٌ، فَقَالَ أَمُقِيمٌ فَنَسْرَحَ أَمْ ظَاعِنٌ فَنَعْلِفَ ؟ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَتَاهُ نَاسٌ مِنَ الْفُقَرَاءِ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، ذَهَبَ أَصْحَابُ الْأَمْوَالِ بِالدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ يُصَلُّونَ كَمَا نُصَلِّي، وَيَصُومُونَ كَمَا نَصُومُ، وَيُجَاهِدُونَ وَيَتَصَدَّقُونَ وَلَا نَتَصَدَّقُ، فَقَالَ: يَا أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ، أَلَا أَدُلُّكَ عَلَى أَمْرٍ إِذَا فَعَلْتُمُوهُ أَدْرَكْتُمْ مَنْ سَبَقَكُمْ وَلَمْ يُدْرِكْكُمْ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا مَنْ قَالَ مِثْلَ قَوْلِكُمْ ؟ تُسَبِّحُ فِي كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ، وَتَحْمَدُ ثَلَاثً وَثَلَاثِينَ، وَتُكَبِّرُ أَرْبَعً وَثَلَاثِينَ
✧ A guest stayed with Abu al-Darda, and he said: 'Are you staying so we may pasture the animals, or departing so we may feed them?' Then Abu al-Darda said: 'Some poor people came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of Allah, the wealthy have taken the worldly benefits and the Hereafter; they pray as we pray, fast as we fast, strive and give charity while we cannot give charity." He said: "O Abu al-Darda, shall I not guide you to something which, if you do it, you will catch up with those who preceded you, and no one will catch up with you except one who says the like of what you say? Glorify Allah thirty-three times after every prayer, praise Him thirty-three times, and magnify Him thirty-four times."'

لِتَكُنِ الْمَسَاجِدُ مَجْلِسَكَ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: إِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ضَمِنَ لِمَنْ كَانَتِ الْمَسَاجِدُ بَيْتَهُ الْأَمْنَ وَالْجَوَازَ عَلَى الصِّرَاطِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ
✧ Keep the mosques as your gathering place, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has guaranteed for one whose home is the mosques security and safe passage over the bridge on the Day of Resurrection.

" مَنْ أَتَى فِرَاشَهُ وَهُوَ يَنْوِي أَنْ يَقُومَ يُصَلِّي مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَغَلَبَتْهُ عَيْنُهُ حَتَّى يُصْبِحَ كُتِبَ لَهُ مَا نَوَى وَكَانَ نَوْمُهُ صَدَقَةً
✧ Whoever goes to his bed intending to get up and pray during the night, but his eyes overcome him until morning, what he intended is written for him, and his sleep is charity.
