✧ What Fadalah b. 'Ubayd narrated from Abu al-Darda

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَرَابَةَ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مَنِيعٍ، قَالَ: نَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ، قَالَ: نَا اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ حَلْبَسٍ يُونُسَ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ، عَنْ أُمِّ الدَّرْدَاءِ، عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ ؓ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْقَاسِمِ ﷺ يَقُولُ:

" إِنَّ اللهَ يَقُولُ لِعِيسَى ابْنِ مَرْيَمَ إِنِّي بَاعِثٌ مِنْ بَعْدِكَ أُمَّةً إِنْ أَصَابَهُمْ مَا يُحِبُّوا حَمِدُوا وَشَكَرُوا وَإِنْ أَصَابَهُمْ مَا يَكْرَهُونَ احْتَسَبُوا وَصَبَرُوا، وَلَا حِلْمَ وَلَا عِلْمَ، قَالَ: يَا رَبِّ كَيْفَ هَذَا وَلَا حِلْمَ وَلَا عِلْمَ، قَالَ: أُعْطِيهِمْ مِنْ حِلْمِي وَعِلْمِي

✧ "God says to Jesus son of Mary: 'I will raise up after you a nation who, if what they love befalls them, praise and give thanks; and if what they dislike befalls them, seek reward and are patient, though they have no forbearance and no knowledge.' He said: 'O Lord, how can this be when they have no forbearance and no knowledge?' He said: 'I will give them from My forbearance and My knowledge.'"
