✧ The rain withheld during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so we asked the Prophet of Allah to pray for rain for us. He prayed for rain, and in the morning the Prophet of Allah ﷺ went out and found some people talking. They said: "We were given rain last night by the rising of such-and-such a star." The Prophet of Allah said: "Allah does not bestow a blessing upon a people except that they wake up denying it."

machine translationSomething like his words has been narrated from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ through several routes, with wording other than this, but similar in meaning. We mentioned this hadith because of its change in wording, and because of what Abū al-Dardāʾ added to it in the way of speech, compared with the other hadiths that have a better chain of transmission than it.
