✧ Al-Aslami came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and testified against himself four times of fornication, saying, "I had unlawful intercourse with a woman." All the while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ turned away from him until he came forward the fifth time. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Did you penetrate her?" He said, "Yes." He said, "Did that part of you disappear into her as the kohl stick disappears into the kohl container, and the rope into the well?" He said, "Yes." He said, "Do you know what fornication is?" He said, "Yes, I had unlawful intercourse with her, just as a man has lawful intercourse with his wife." He said, "What do you intend with this statement?" He said, "I want you to purify me." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered that he be stoned, and he was stoned. He heard two men from his companions, one saying to the other, "Look at this man whom Allah had concealed, but his soul did not leave him alone until he was stoned like the stoning of a dog." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ remained silent about them. Then he passed by the carcass of a donkey with its leg raised, and said, "Where are so-and-so and so-and-so?" They said, "Here we are, O Messenger of Allah." He said to them, "Eat from the carcass of this donkey." They said, "O Messenger of Allah, may Allah forgive you, who would eat from this?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "What you attained from the honor of this man just now is worse than eating from this carcass. By the One in whose hand is my soul, he is now in the rivers of Paradise."

  4. Sahih Ibn Hibban 4400Weak

✧ Ma'iz b. Malik came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "The far one has committed fornication." The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Woe to you, what makes you know what fornication is?" Then he ordered that he be driven away and expelled. Then he came to him a second time and said, "O Messenger of Allah, the far one has committed fornication." He said, "Woe to you, what makes you know what fornication is?" He was driven away and expelled. Then he came to him a third time and said, "O Messenger of Allah, the far one has committed fornication." He said, "Woe to you, what makes you know what fornication is?" He said, "I had unlawful intercourse with a woman, just as a man has intercourse with his wife." So he ordered that he be driven away and expelled. Then he came to him a fourth time and said, "O Messenger of Allah, the far one has committed fornication." He said, "Woe to you, what makes you know what fornication is?" He said, "Did you insert and withdraw?" He said, "Yes." So he ordered that he be stoned. When he felt the touch of the stones, he fled to a tree and was stoned at it until he died. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by after that with a group of his companions. A man among them said to his companion, "By your father, this one is indeed the loser. He came to the Prophet ﷺ several times, each time he turned him away, until he was killed as a dog is killed." The Prophet ﷺ remained silent about them until he passed by the carcass of a donkey with its leg raised. He said, "Eat from this." They said, "From a donkey's carcass, O Messenger of Allah?" He said, "What you attained from the honor of your brother is greater. By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad ﷺ, he is surely in a river among the rivers of Paradise, plunging about."

The Quraish were anxious about the Makhzumi woman who had committed theft, They said: Who will speak to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about her ? Then they said: Who will be bold enough for it but Uasmah bin Zaid, the prophet’s ﷺ friend! So Usamah spoke to him, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Are you interceding regarding one of the punishments prescribed by Allah ? He then got up and gave an address, saying: What destroyed your predecessors was just that when a person of rank among them committed a theft, They left him alone, and when a weak one of them committed a theft, they inflicted the prescribed punishment on him. I swear by Allah that if Fatimah daughter of Muhammad should steal, I would have her hand cut off. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 4373)

  7. Sahih Ibn Hibban 4403Sahih

✧ A woman from Juhaynah came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I have committed a legal offense, so carry out the penalty on me." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called her guardian and said, "Be good to her until she gives birth to what is in her womb. When she has given birth, bring her to me." When she gave birth, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was brought to her, and he ordered that her clothes be fastened tightly on her, then ordered that she be stoned. Then he prayed over her. 'Umar said, "O Messenger of Allah, you pray over her when she committed fornication?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "She has repented with a repentance that if it were divided among seventy of the people of Madinah, it would be sufficient for them. Have you found anything better than her giving her own soul to Allah, Mighty and Exalted?"

He said: "So he ordered us, and we took him to Baqi' al-Gharqad. We did not dig a hole for him nor tie him up. We threw at him pieces of baked clay, bones, and stones. He complained and ran, so we ran after him. He came to the lava field and stood against us, and we threw its boulders at him until he became still. Then the Prophet ﷺ stood in the evening as a preacher, praised and extolled Allah, then said: 'Now then, what is the matter with people that when we go on a military expedition, one of them stays behind with our families, bleating like a he-goat? "The first Li'an in Islam was when Hilal bin Umayyah accused Sharik bin As-Sahma' (of committing adultery) with his wife. He came to the Prophet and told him about that. The Prophet said: '(Bring) four witnesses, otherwise (you will feel) the Hadd punishment on your back.' And he repeated that several times. Hilal said to him: 'By Allah, O Messenger of Allah! Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, knows that I am telling the truth, and Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, will certainly reveal to you that which will spare my back from the whip.' While they were like that, the Verse of Li'an was revealed to him: 'As to those who accuse their wives.' He called Hilal and he bore witness four times by Allah that he was telling the truth, and the fifth time he invoked the curse of Allah upon him if he were lying. Then he called the woman and she bore witness four times by Allah that he was lying. When it came to the fourth or fifth time, the Messenger of Allah said: 'Stop her, for it will inevitably bring the punishment of Allah upon the liar.' She hesitated until we thought that she was going to confess, then she said: 'I will not dishonor my people today.' Then she went ahead with the oath. The Messenger of Allah said: 'Wait and see. If she produces a child who is white, with straight hair and Qadiy'a eyes, then he belongs to Hilal bin Umayyah, but if she produces a child who is dark with curly hair, of average size and with narrow calves, then he belongs to Sharik bin As-Sahma'.' She produced a child who was dark with curly hair, of average size and with narrow calves.

✧ A group from Banu 'Ukl—or he said from 'Uraynah—arrived in Madinah and found its climate unhealthy. The Prophet ﷺ ordered milch camels for them and told them to drink their milk and urine. They drank their milk and urine until they recovered and their sickness was gone. Then they killed the shepherd of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and drove away the livestock. That reached the Prophet ﷺ, and he sent after them in the morning. By the time the day had fully risen, they were brought back. Their hands and feet were cut off, their eyes were gouged out, and they were thrown onto the harrah, asking for water but not given any. Abu Qilabah said: "These are people who killed, stole, disbelieved after their faith, and waged war against Allah and His Messenger ﷺ."

  73. Sahih Ibn Hibban 4470Sahih

✧ Eight men from 'Ukl came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and pledged allegiance to him upon Islam. They found the land unhealthy and their bodies became ill. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Will you not go out with our shepherd among his camels and get some of their milk and urine?" They said yes. So they went out, drank their milk and urine, and regained health. Then they killed the shepherd of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and drove away the livestock. That reached the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he sent pursuers after them. They were brought back, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered them; he cut off their hands and feet, blinded their eyes with heated iron, and cast them into the sun until they died.

  74. Sahih Ibn Hibban 4471Sahih

✧ A group from 'Uraynah came to the Prophet ﷺ. He said to them: "If only you would go out to our small herd of camels and stay with them, and drink their milk and urine." They did so. When they recovered, they went to the shepherd of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, killed him, returned as disbelievers, and drove away the small herd of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent in pursuit of them. They were brought back, and he cut off their hands and feet and gouged out their eyes.

  75. Sahih Ibn Hibban 4472Sahih

✧ People from 'Ukl and 'Uraynah came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and spoke words of Islam. They said: "O Prophet of Allah, we were people of livestock, not of farmland," and they found Madinah unhealthy. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered a small herd and a shepherd for them, and told them to go out and drink its urine and milk. They went until they were at the edge of the harrah, then they disbelieved after their Islam, killed the shepherd of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and drove away the small herd. That reached the Prophet ﷺ, and he sent pursuers after them. They were brought back, and he blinded their eyes with heated iron, cut off their hands and feet, then left them at the edge of the harrah until they died in that condition.

  76. Sahih Ibn Hibban 4473Sahih

✧ Do not cut off his hand, for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to stand among us commanding charity and forbidding mutilation.

✧ The Prophet ﷺ blinded their eyes only because they had blinded the eyes of the shepherds.

  78. Sahih Ibn Hibban 4467Sahih

✧ Eight men from 'Ukl came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. They found the climate of Madinah unhealthy. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered them to go to the camels of zakah and drink their milk and urine. They did so, then they killed the shepherd and drove away the camels. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent trackers in pursuit of them. They were brought back, and he cut off their hands and feet, blinded their eyes with heated iron, and left them without cauterizing.

✧ «There was a man from the Ansar who accepted Islam, then apostatized and joined the polytheists. Then he regretted it and sent to his people, saying: Ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ whether there is any repentance for me. He said: Then it was revealed: {How shall Allah guide a people who disbelieved after their belief and bore witness that the Messenger is true, and clear proofs came to them} up to His saying {except those who repent after that and make amends, for indeed Allah is Forgiving, Merciful}. So his people sent to him, and he accepted Islam.»

  81. Sahih Ibn Hibban 4475Sahih

    ✧ «Whoever changes his religion, kill him.»
