✧ Time has returned to its original state as it was on the day God created the heavens and the earth. The year is twelve months, of which four are sacred: three consecutive, Dhū al-Qaʿdah, Dhū al-Ḥijjah, and al-Muḥarram, and Rajab of Muḍar, which is between Jumādā and Shaʿbān.

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said while delivering a sermon during the Farewell Pilgrimage: "Do not revert after me to being disbelievers, striking one another's necks. Whoever prays the dawn prayer is under God's protection; whoever betrays God's protection, God will cast him into the Fire on his face. Let those present convey to those absent, for perhaps the one to whom it is conveyed may be more mindful than the one who heard it."

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ addressed the people at Minā and said: "Do you know which day this is?" They said: "God and His Messenger know best," until we thought he would name it with some other name. He said: "Is it not the Day of Sacrifice?" We said: "Yes, O Messenger of God." He said: "And what land is this?" We said: "God and His Messenger know best." He then remained silent until we thought he would name it with some other name. He said: "Is it not the Sacred City?" We said: "Yes, O Messenger of God." He said: "Indeed, your blood, your wealth, and your honor are sacred to you like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this land of yours. Have I conveyed?" We said: "Yes." He said: "O God, bear witness." He said: "Let those present among you convey to those absent, for perhaps the one to whom it is conveyed may be more mindful than the one who heard it. Do not revert after me to being disbelievers, striking one another's necks." When the day came that Ibn al-Ḥaḍramī was burned, when Jāriyah b. Qudāmah burned him, they said: "Look at Abū Bakrah"—he was in a walled garden of his—and they said: "This is Abū Bakrah." ʿAbd al-Raḥmān said: My mother narrated to me from Abū Bakrah that he said: "If they had entered upon me, I would not have stirred against them even with a reed."
