✧ While I was sitting with Abu Bakrah, a man came and greeted him. He said: "Do you not recognize me?" Abu Bakrah said to him: "Who are you?" He said: "Do you know a man who came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and informed him that he had seen the dam?" Abu Bakrah said to him: "So you are him?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Sit and narrate to us." He said: "I set out until I reached a land whose people had nothing but iron that they worked. I entered a house and lay down on my back, placing my feet on its wall. When it was near sunset, I heard a sound the like of which I had never heard, and I was terrified and sat up. The owner of the house said to me: 'Do not be alarmed, for this will not harm you. This is the sound of people returning at this hour from that dam.' He said: 'Would you like to see it?' I said: 'Yes.' He said: 'So I went to it in the morning, and there were bricks of iron'—or he said: 'a brick of iron'—'each one like a boulder, and it was like a striped cloak, and its nails were like tree trunks. Then I came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and he said: "Describe it to me." I said: "It is like a striped cloak." The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "Whoever would like to look at a man who has come to the dam, let him look at this one." Abu Bakrah said: "He spoke truth."
