وَحَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ عَطَاءٍ قَالَ: أَنَا الْجُرَيْرِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ؓ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالُوا:
يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَا الْكَبَائِرُ ؟ قَالَ: الْإِشْرَاكُ بِاللهِ وَعُقُوقُ الْوَالِدَيْنِ وَكَانَ مُتَّكِئًا فَجَلَسَ أَلَا وَقَوْلُ الزُّورُ " قَالَ فِي حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ: " أَوْ شَهَادَةُ الزُّورِ " شَكَّ أَبُو مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ: فَمَا زَالَ يَقُولُهَا حَتَّى قُلْنَا: لَيْتَهُ سَكَتَ

✧ “O Messenger of God, what are the major sins?” He said: “Associating partners with God, disobedience to parents,” and he was reclining, so he sat up and said: “Indeed, and false speech.” In the ḥadīth of ʿAbd al-Wahhāb: “or false testimony”—Abū Masʿūd was unsure. He said: He kept repeating it until we said: “If only he would stop.”
