حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ قَالَ: نَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ قَالَ:
خَرَجْنَا مَعَهُ فِي جِنَازَةِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ وَزِيَادٌ يَمْشِي أَمَامَ الْجِنَازَةِ فَجَعَلَ رِجَالٌ مِنْ مَوَالِيهِ وَأَهْلِهِ يَمْشُونَ عَلَى أَعْقَابِهِمْ أَمَامَ السَّرِيرِ، وَيَقُولُونَ: رُوَيْدًا رُوَيْدًا بَارَكَ اللهُ فِيكُمْ، فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرَةَ: وَهُوَ عَلَى بَغْلَتِهِ وَهُوَ يَحْمِلُ عَلَيْهِمْ بِالسَّوْطِ، فَقَالَ: " خَلُّوا عَنْهَا، فَوَالَّذِي كَرَّمَ وَجْهَ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ نَكَادُ أَنْ نَرْمُلَ بِهَا رَمَلًا
Translation

✧ We went out with him in the funeral procession of Abdul-Rahman b. Samurah, and Ziyad was walking in front of the bier. Some men from his freedmen and family began walking on their heels in front of the bier, saying: "Slowly, slowly, may Allah bless you." Abu Bakrah said, while on his mule, striking them with a whip: "Leave it alone, for by the One who honored the face of Abu al-Qasim, I saw us with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ almost jogging with it."
