- Abū Muʿāwiyah
✧ Al-'Awwam b. Hawshab narrated to us, from Sa'id b. Jumhan, from Ibn Abi Bakrah, from his father. Abu Bakr said: "I only said 'from Ibn Abi Bakrah' because Abu Kurayb said 'from 'Abd Allah b. Abi Bakrah,' and I do not know that Abu Bakrah had a son called 'Abd Allah, so I made it 'from Ibn Abi Bakrah.'"

machine translationAḥmad b. ʿAbd al-Ṣamad al-Nahrawānī, who is well known and unobjectionable, narrated it from Ibn ʿUyaynah, from Ayyūb, from al-Ḥasan, but he erred in it. Rather, Ibn ʿUyaynah narrated it from Abū Mūsā Isrāʾīl, from al-Ḥasan, from Abū Bakrah. Likewise Yūnus, Manṣūr and ʿAmr b. ʿUbayd narrated it from al-Ḥasan, and that is the established version.
