نَزَلْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ الْحُدَيْبِيَةَ فَوَجَدْنَا مَاءَهَا قَدْ شَرِبَهُ أَوَائِلُ النَّاسِ، فَجَلَسَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَلَى الْبِئْرِ، وَدَعَا بِدَلْوٍ مِنْهَا فَأَخَذَ مِنْهُ بِفِيهِ، ثُمَّ مَجَّهُ فِيهَا وَدَعَا اللهَ تَعَالَى، فَكَثُرَ مَاؤُهَا حَتَّى رَوِيَ النَّاسُ مِنْهَا
✧ We camped with the Prophet ﷺ at al-Hudaybiyyah and found that its water had been consumed by the first arrivals. The Prophet ﷺ sat by the well and called for a bucket, took a mouthful from it, then spat into the well and supplicated to Allah, the Exalted, and its water increased until the people drank their fill.

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed 'umrah before the hajj. He said: And 'A'ishah said: He knew that he had performed 'umrah four times, his 'umrah being in the Farewell Hajj.

خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي يَوْمِ نَحْرٍ، فَقَالَ: أَلَا لَا يَذْبَحَنَّ أَحَدٌ حَتَّى يُصَلِّي، فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، هَذَا يَوْمٌ اللَّحْمُ فِيهِ مَكْرُوهٌ، وَإِنِّي عَجَّلْتُ نَسِيكَتِي لِأُطْعِمَ أَهْلِي وَأَهْلَ دَارِي، أَوْ أَهْلِي وَجِيرَانِي، قَالَ: فَقَدْ فَعَلْتَ فَأَعِدْ ذَبْحًا آخَرَ، قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، عِنْدِي عَنَاقُ لَبَنٍ، هِيَ خَيْرٌ مِنْ شَاتَيْ لَحْمٍ، أَفَأَذْبَحُهَا ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، وَهِيَ خَيْرٌ مِنْ نَسِيكَتِكَ، وَلَا تَقْضِي جَذَعَةٌ عَنْ أَحَدٍ بَعْدَكَ
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed us on the Day of Sacrifice and said: 'Indeed, no one should sacrifice until he has prayed.' A man stood up and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, this is a day on which meat is desired, and I hastened my sacrifice to feed my family and the people of my house, or my family and my neighbors.' He said: 'You have already done so, so repeat another sacrifice.' He said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I have a young she-goat that is better than two meat sheep. Should I sacrifice it?' He said: 'Yes, and it is better than your sacrifice, but a jadha'ah will not suffice for anyone after you.'

خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ الْأَضْحَى بَعْدَ الصَّلَاةِ، فَقَالَ: مَنْ صَلَّى صَلَاتَنَا وَنَسَكَ نَسِيكَتَنَا، فَقَدْ أَصَابَ النُّسُكَ، وَمَنْ نَسَكَ قَبْلَ الصَّلَاةِ، فَشَاتُهُ شَاةُ لَحْمٍ، وَلَا نُسُكَ لَهُ، فَقَالَ أَبُو بُرْدَةَ بْنُ نِيَارٍ خَالُ الْبَرَاءِ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَإِنِّي نَسَكْتُ شَاتَيْ قَبْلَ الصَّلَاةِ، وَعَرَفْتُ أَنَّ الْيَوْمَ يَوْمُ أَكْلٍ وَشُرْبٍ، وَأَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ تَكُونَ شَاتَيْ أَوَّلَ شَيْءٍ يُذْبَحُ فِي بَيْتِي، فَذَبَحْتُ شَاتَيْ، وَتَغَدَّيْتُ قَبْلَ أَنْ آتِيَ الصَّلَاةَ، قَالَ: شَاتُكَ شَاةُ لَحْمٍ، قَالَ: فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَإِنَّ عِنْدَنَا عَنَاقًا لَنَا جَذَعَةً هِيَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ شَاتَيْنِ، أَفَتَجْزِي عَنِّي ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، وَلَنْ تَجْزِي عَنْ أَحَدٍ بَعْدَكَ
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed us on the day of Eid al-Adha after the prayer and said: 'Whoever prays our prayer and performs our sacrifice has fulfilled the sacrifice. Whoever sacrifices before the prayer, his sheep is only a sheep of meat, and he has no sacrifice.' Abu Burdah b. Niyar, the maternal uncle of al-Bara', said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I sacrificed my sheep before the prayer because I knew that today is a day of eating and drinking, and I wanted my sheep to be the first thing slaughtered in my house. So I slaughtered my sheep and ate lunch before coming to the prayer.' He said: 'Your sheep is a sheep of meat.' He said: 'O Messenger of Allah, we have a young she-goat, a jadha'ah, which is dearer to me than two sheep. Will it suffice for me?' He said: 'Yes, and it will never suffice for anyone after you.'

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا خَرَجَ إِلَى سَفَرٍ، فَقَالَ: اللَّهُمَّ بَلَاغًا يُبَلِّغُ خَيْرًا، مَغْفِرَةً مِنْكَ وَرِضْوَانًا، بِيَدِكَ الْخَيْرُ، إِنَّكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ، اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ، وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ، اللَّهُمَّ هَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفَرَ، وَاطْوِ لَنَا الْأَرْضَ، اللَّهُمَّ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ، وَكَآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ
✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out on a journey, he would say: 'O Allah, grant us a provision that brings good, forgiveness from You and Your pleasure. In Your hand is all good. You have power over all things. O Allah, You are the companion in travel and the guardian of the family. O Allah, make the journey easy for us and fold the earth for us. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardships of travel and from a sorrowful return.'

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded a man, when he took to his bed, to say: 'O Allah, I submit myself to You, I turn my face to You, I entrust my back to You, I commit my affairs to You, in hope and fear of You. There is no refuge or escape from You except to You. I believe in Your Book which You sent down and in Your Messenger whom You sent.' For if he dies, he dies upon the fitrah.

خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَصْحَابُهُ، فَأَحْرَمْنَا بِالْحَجِّ، فَلَمَّا أَنْ قَدِمْنَا مَكَّةَ، قَالَ: اجْعَلُوا حَجَّكُمْ عُمْرَةً، فَقَالَ نَاسٌ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَدْ أَحْرَمْنَا بِالْحَجِّ، فَكَيْفَ نَجْعَلُهَا عُمْرَةً ؟ قَالَ: انْظُرُوا مَا أَمَرْتُكُمْ بِهِ فَافْعَلُوا، قَالَ: فَرَدُّوا عَلَيْهِ الْقَوْلَ، فَغَضِبَ ثُمَّ انْطَلَقَ حَتَّى دَخَلَ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ غَضْبَانَ، قَالَ: فَرَأَتِ الْغَضَبَ فِي وَجْهِهِ، فَقَالَتْ: مَنْ أَغْضَبَكَ أَغْضَبَهُ اللهُ تَعَالَى ؟ فَقَالَ: مَا لِي لَا أَغْضَبُ، وَأَنَا آمُرُ بِالْأَمْرِ فَلَا يُتَّبَعُ
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ set out with his companions, and we entered ihram for Hajj. When we arrived in Makkah, he said: "Make your Hajj an 'Umrah." Some people said: "O Messenger of Allah, we have already entered ihram for Hajj, so how can we make it an 'Umrah?" He said: "Look at what I have commanded you and do it." They repeated their words back to him, so he became angry. Then he went off until he entered upon 'A'ishah angry. She saw the anger in his face and said: "Whoever has angered you, may Allah Almighty anger him." He said: "Why should I not be angry when I command something and it is not followed?"

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed us until he made the secluded maidens in their houses hear him, or he said: in their private chambers. He said: "O assembly of those who believe with their tongues, do not backbite the Muslims and do not pursue their faults. For whoever pursues the fault of his brother, Allah will pursue his fault, and whoever Allah pursues his fault, He will expose him in the interior of his house."

أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِحَفْرِ الْخَنْدَقِ قَالَ: عَرَضَ لَنَا صَخْرَةٌ لَا تَأْخُذُ فِيهَا الْمَعَاوِلُ، فَشَكَوْا ذَلِكَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، قَالَ: فَأَخَذَ الْمِعْوَلَ، قَالَ: وَأَحْسَبُهُ، قَالَ: وَضَعَ ثَوْبَهُ فَضَرَبَ ضَرْبَةً، وَقَالَ: بِاسْمِ اللهِ، فَكَسَرَ ثُلُثَ الصَّخْرَةِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: اللهُ أَكْبَرُ، أُعْطِيتُ مَفَاتِيحَ الشَّامِ، إِنِّي لَأَنْظُرُ إِلَى قُصُورِهَا الْحُمْرِ مِنْ مَكَانِي هَذَا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: بِاسْمِ اللهِ، وَضَرَبَ أُخْرَى فَكَسَرَ ثُلُثَهَا، وَقَالَ: اللهُ أَكْبَرُ، أُعْطِيتُ مَفَاتِيحَ فَارِسَ، وَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأَنْظُرُ إِلَى الْمَدَائِنِ وَقَصْرِهَا الْأَبْيَضِ مِنْ مَكَانِي هَذَا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: بِاسْمِ اللهِ، وَضَرَبَ أُخْرَى فَكَسَرَ بَقِيَّةَ الْحَجَرِ، وَقَالَ: اللهُ أَكْبَرُ، أُعْطِيتُ مَفَاتِيحَ الْيَمَنِ، وَاللهِ إِنِّي لَأَنْظُرُ إِلَى مَفَاتِيحِ صَنْعَاءَ مِنْ مَكَانِي هَذَا
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered the digging of the trench. He said: A boulder appeared before us that the pickaxes could not break. They complained about that to the Prophet ﷺ. He said: So he took the pickaxe. He said: I think he said: He placed down his garment and struck a blow, saying: In the name of Allah. He broke one third of the boulder. Then he said: Allah is greatest! I have been given the keys of Syria. Indeed, I can see its red palaces from this place of mine. Then he said: In the name of Allah, and struck another blow, breaking one third of it. He said: Allah is greatest! I have been given the keys of Persia. By Allah, indeed I can see al-Mada'in and its white palace from this place of mine. Then he said: In the name of Allah, and struck another blow, breaking the rest of the rock. He said: Allah is greatest! I have been given the keys of Yemen. By Allah, indeed I can see the gates of San'a' from this place of mine.

✧ What do you say about the joy of a man whose riding camel escaped from him, dragging its halter in a barren land in which there is no food or drink, and on it is his food and drink, and he sought it until it became hard for him, then it passed by the trunk of a tree and its halter got caught, and he found it hanging on it? We said: Very great, O Messenger of God. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: By God, God is more joyful at the repentance of His servant than the man at his riding camel.

He said: Who do you think is more entitled to this? Then he said: Come near, O Bara', and he put it on my finger, and said: Wear what God and His Messenger have clothed you.

لَمَّا أَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ مَكَّةَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ تَبِعَهُ سُرَاقَةُ بْنُ جُعْشُمٍ، فَدَعَا عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، فَسَاخَتْ بِهِ فَرَسُهُ، فَقَالَ: ادْعُ اللهَ لِي وَلَا أَضُرُّكَ، فَدَعَا لَهُ، فَعَطِشَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، فَمَرُّوا بِرَاعٍ، فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقُ: فَأَخَذْتُ قَدَحًا فَحَلَبْتُ فِيهِ كُثْبَةً مِنْ لَبَنٍ، فَأَتَيْتُهُ، فَشَرِبَ، ثُمَّ شَرِبَ حَتَّى رَضِيتُ
✧ When the Messenger of God ﷺ approached from Makkah to Madinah, Suraqah b. Ju'shum followed him, so the Messenger of God ﷺ supplicated against him, and his horse sank with him. He said: Supplicate to God for me and I will not harm you, so he supplicated for him. Then the Messenger of God ﷺ became thirsty, and they passed by a shepherd. Abu Bakr al-Siddiq said: I took a bowl and milked into it a small amount of milk, and I brought it to him, and he drank, then I drank until I was satisfied.

✧ When the Messenger of God ﷺ made peace with the people of Makkah, Ali wrote a document between them and wrote: Muhammad is the Messenger of God. The polytheists said: Do not write Muhammad is the Messenger of God, for if you were the Messenger of God, we would not fight you. He said to Ali: Erase it. Ali said: I am not one to erase it. So the Messenger of God ﷺ erased it with his hand. He made peace with them on condition that he and his companions enter it for three days, and that they not enter except with the sheaths of weapons. They asked him: What are the sheaths of weapons? He said: The scabbard and what is in it.

✧ The first to come from the companions of the Messenger of God ﷺ were Mus'ab b. 'Umayr and Ibn Umm Maktum, and they used to teach the people the Quran. He said: Then Bilal, Sa'id, and 'Ammar b. Yasir came. He said: Then 'Umar b. al-Khattab came with twenty of the companions of the Messenger of God ﷺ, then the Messenger of God ﷺ came, and I never saw the people of Madinah rejoice at anything as they rejoiced at the Messenger of God ﷺ, so much so that even the slave girls were saying: The Messenger of God ﷺ has come. He said: He did not come until I had recited 'Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High' and other surahs from the Mufassal.

✧ The Prophet ﷺ was carrying dust, and the dust covered his belly while he was saying: O God, if not for You we would not have been guided, nor given charity, nor prayed. So send down tranquility upon us and make our feet firm if we meet. The first ones have transgressed against us, and perhaps he said: The assembly has refused against us; if they want a trial, we refuse, raising his voice with it.

✧ Some people among the companions of the Messenger of God ﷺ died while they were drinking wine. When its prohibition came down, some people among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ said: 'But what about our companions who died while they were drinking it?' Then came down: 'There is no blame on those who believe and do righteous deeds for what they consumed, if they fear [God], believe, and do righteous deeds.'

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ commanded a man, when he took to his bed, to say: 'O God, I have submitted my soul to You, turned my face to You, entrusted my affair to You, leaned my back upon You, out of desire and fear of You. There is no refuge or escape from You except to You. I believe in Your Book which You sent down, and in Your Prophet whom You sent.' If he dies, he dies upon the fitrah.

✧ A man recited al-Kahf while in the house there was an animal, and it began to shy. He said salam, and there was a mist or a cloud that had covered him. He mentioned it to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: 'Recite, so-and-so, for it is the sakina that descended with the Qur'an, or it descended for the Qur'an.'

✧ I was considered too young on the day of Badr, I and Ibn 'Umar. The Emigrants were over sixty, and the Helpers over two hundred and forty.

لا يَسْتَوِي الْقَاعِدُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ غَيْرُ أُولِي الضَّرَرِ وَالْمُجَاهِدُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ، قَالَ: فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ زَيْدًا، فَجَاءَ بِكَتِفٍ، قَالَ: فَشَكَا ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ ضَرَارَتَهُ، فَنَزَلَتْ: لا يَسْتَوِي الْقَاعِدُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ غَيْرُ أُولِي الضَّرَرِ
✧ 'Not equal are those among the believers who remain seated, other than those with a disability, and those who strive in the path of God.' He said: The Messenger of God ﷺ ordered Zayd, and he brought a shoulder blade. He said: Ibn Umm Maktum complained of his disability, so it came down: 'Not equal are those among the believers who remain seated, other than those with a disability.'

✧ Muhammad narrated to us: Muhammad narrated to us: Shu'ba narrated to us from Sa'd b. Ibrahim from his father from a man from Zayd b. Thabit regarding this verse 'Not equal are those who remain seated,' similar to the hadith of al-Bara'.

وَسَأَلَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ قَيْسٍ، قَالَ: أَفَرَرْتُمْ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ ؟ فَقَالَ الْبَرَاءُ: لَكِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ لَمْ يَفِرَّ، كَانَتْ هَوَازِنُ نَاسًا رُمَاةً، وَإِنَّا لَمَّا حَمَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ، فَأَكْبَبْنَا عَلَى الْغَنَائِمِ، فَاسْتَقْبَلُونَا بِالسِّهَامِ، وَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى بَغْلَتِهِ الشَّهْبَاءِ، وَإِنَّ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ بْنَ الْحَارِثِ آخِذٌ بِلِجَامِهَا، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: أَنَا النَّبِيُّ لَا كَذِبْ أَنَا ابْنُ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبْ.
✧ A man from Qays asked him: 'Did you flee from the Messenger of God ﷺ on the day of Hunayn?' Al-Bara' said: 'But the Messenger of God did not flee. Hawazin were archers. When we charged at them, we fell upon the spoils, and they met us with arrows. I saw the Messenger of God ﷺ on his white mule, and Abu Sufyan b. al-Harith was holding its bridle, and he was saying: "I am the Prophet, no lie; I am the son of 'Abd al-Muttalib."'

أُهْدِيَتْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ حُلَّةُ حَرِيرٍ، فَجَعَلَ أَصْحَابُهُ يَلْمِسُونَهَا، يَعْجَبُونَ مِنْ لِينِهَا، فَقَالَ: تَعْجَبُونَ مِنْ لِينِ هَذِهِ ؟ لَمَنَادِيلُ سَعْدٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ خَيْرٌ مِنْهَا وَأَلْيَنُ
✧ A silk garment was gifted to the Messenger of God ﷺ. His companions began to touch it, marveling at its softness. He said: 'You marvel at the softness of this? The handkerchiefs of Sa'd in Paradise are better than it and softer.'

أُهْدِيَ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ حُلَّةُ حَرِيرٍ، فَجَعَلَ أَصْحَابُهُ يَلْمِسُونَهَا، فَقَالَ: أَتَعْجَبُونَ مِنْ لِينِ هَذَا ؟ لَمَنَادِيلُ سَعْدٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ أَلْيَنُ مِنْ هَذَا
✧ A silk garment was gifted to the Messenger of God ﷺ. His companions began touching it, so he said: "Are you amazed at the softness of this? The handkerchiefs of Sa'd in Paradise are softer than this."

كَانَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ إِذَا حَجُّوا لَمْ يَدْخُلُوا الْبُيُوتَ إِلَّا مِنْ ظُهُورِهَا، فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَدَخَلَ مِنْ بَابِهِ فَقِيلَ لَهُ فِي ذَلِكَ فَنَزَلَتْ: وَلَيْسَ الْبِرُّ بِأَنْ تَأْتُوا الْبُيُوتَ مِنْ ظُهُورِهَا الْآيَةَ
✧ When the Ansar performed the Hajj, they would not enter their houses except from the back. A man from the Ansar came and entered through his door, and he was told about that. Then it was revealed: "It is not righteousness that you enter houses from the back..." the verse.
