    مَنْ قَرَأَ قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ خَمْسِينَ مَرَّةً؛ نُودِيَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مِنْ قَبْرِهِ: قُمْ يَا مَادِحَ اللهِ، فَادْخُلِ الْجَنَّةَ

    ✧ Whoever recites “Say: He is God, the One” fifty times every day will be called on the Day of Resurrection from his grave: “Arise, O praiser of God, and enter Paradise.”

    ✧ God – blessed and exalted is He – has an angel who calls out at every prayer: “O children of Adam, rise to your fires that you have kindled against yourselves and extinguish them.”

    فِي قَوْلِ اللهِ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ قَالَ: الشَّاهِدُ جَدِّي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَالْمَشْهُودُ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ، ثُمَّ تَلَا هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ شَاهِدًا وَمُبَشِّرًا وَنَذِيرًا، وَتَلَا ذَلِكَ يَوْمٌ مَجْمُوعٌ لَهُ النَّاسُ وَذَلِكَ يَوْمٌ مَشْهُودٌ

    ✧ Regarding God’s saying – mighty and glorious is He – “By the witness and the witnessed,” he said: “The witness is my grandfather, the Messenger of God ﷺ, and the witnessed is the Day of Resurrection.” Then he recited this verse: “Indeed, We have sent you as a witness and a bearer of good tidings and a warner,” and he recited: “That is a day for which mankind will be gathered, and that is a day witnessed.”

    مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ يُصَلِّي صَلَاةَ الصُّبْحِ، ثُمَّ يَجْلِسُ يَذْكُرُ اللهَ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ إِلَّا كَانَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ حِجَابًا مِنَ النَّارِ

    ✧ No servant prays the dawn prayer, then sits remembering God until the sun rises, but that will be for him a barrier from the Fire.

    رُفِعَتْ لِي سِدْرَةُ الْمُنْتَهَى فَإِذَا أَرْبَعَةُ أَنْهَارٍ: نَهَرَانِ ظَاهِرَانِ، وَنَهَرَانِ بَاطِنَانِ. فَأَمَّا الظَّاهِرَانِ: فَالنِّيلُ وَالْفُرَاتُ، وَأَمَّا الْبَاطِنَانِ فَنَهَرَانِ فِي الْجَنَّةِ، وَأُتِيتُ بِثَلَاثَةِ أَقْدَاحٍ: قَدَحٌ فِيهِ لَبَنٌ، وَقَدَحٌ فِيهِ عَسَلٌ، وَقَدَحٌ فِيهِ خَمْرٌ، فَأَخَذْتُ الَّذِي فِيهِ اللَّبَنُ، فَشَرِبْتُ، فَقِيلَ: أَصَبْتَ الْفِطْرَةَ أَنْتَ وَأُمَّتُكَ

    ✧ The Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary was raised up to me, and there were four rivers: two visible rivers and two hidden rivers. As for the two visible ones, they are the Nile and the Euphrates; as for the two hidden ones, they are two rivers in Paradise. And I was brought three cups: a cup containing milk, a cup containing honey, and a cup containing wine. I took the one containing milk and drank, and it was said: You have attained the primordial nature—you and your community.

    ✧ I said: O Messenger of God, whom should I treat most kindly? He said: "Your mother." I said: Then whom? He said: "Your mother." I said: Then whom? He said: "Then your father." I said: Then whom? He said: "Then the nearest, then the next nearest."

    أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي بِأَصْحَابِهِ الْمَغْرِبَ، فَسَمِعْتُهُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: مَا لَهُ مِنْ دَافِعٍ - وَقَدْ خَرَجَ صَوْتُهُ مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ - إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَاقِعٌ مَا لَهُ مِنْ دَافِعٍ، فَكَأَنَّمَا صُدِعَ قَلْبِي

    ✧ I came to the Messenger of God ﷺ while he was leading his companions in the sunset prayer. I heard him saying: "It has no repeller"—and his voice was coming out of the mosque—"Indeed, the punishment of your Lord is surely occurring; it has no repeller." It was as if my heart was split open.

    قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " يَا عِمْرَانُ "، قُلْتُ: لَبَّيْكَ قَالَ: قُلِ: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَهْدِيكَ لِأَرْشَدِ أُمُورِي، وَأَسْتَجِيرُكَ مِنْ شَرِّ نَفْسِي

    ✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said to me: "O 'Imran." I said: At your service. He said: "Say: O God, I seek guidance from You for the most sound of my affairs, and I seek Your protection from the evil of my self."

    ✧ Whoever frees a Muslim slave, God will free, for every limb of that slave, a limb of his from the Fire.

    ✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ mentioned misappropriation of war spoils and said: "Let one of you beware of coming on the Day of Resurrection with a camel on his neck that bellows."

    أَنَّ رَجُلًا كَانَ حَدِيثَ عَهْدٍ بِعُرْسٍ، فَبَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بَعْثًا وَبَعَثَ فِيهِمْ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلَ، فَلَمَّا جَاءَ الْقَوْمُ تَعَجَّلَ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ، فَإِذَا هُوَ بِامْرَأَتِهِ قَائِمَةً عَلَى بَابِهَا، فَدَخَلَتْهُ غَيْرَةٌ، فَهَيَّأَ الرُّمْحَ لِيَطْعَنَهَا بِهِ، فَقَالَتْ: لَا تَعْجَلْ وَانْظُرْ مَاذَا فِي الْبَيْتِ، فَدَخَلَ الْبَيْتَ فَإِذَا هُوَ بِحَيَّةٍ مُنْطَوِيَةٍ عَلَى فِرَاشِهَا فَطَعَنَ الْحَيَّةَ فَمَاتَتْ، وَمَاتَ الرَّجُلُ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: إِنَّ لِهَذِهِ الْبُيُوتِ عَوَامِرَ مِنَ الْجِنِّ، وَنَهَى عَنْ قَتْلِ الْجِنَّانِ

    ✧ A man had recently married, and the Messenger of God ﷺ dispatched an expedition and sent that man among them. When the people came back, he hurried to his family, and found his wife standing at her door. Jealousy entered him, so he readied a spear to thrust at her. She said: Do not rush; look at what is in the house. He entered the house and found a snake coiled on her bed. He thrust at the snake, and it died, and the man died too. This reached the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: "Indeed, these houses have dwellers from the jinn," and he forbade killing house snakes.

    ✧ He forbade killing the house snakes that are in the house.

    مَا مِنْ عَمَلٍ أَحَبُّ إِلَى اللهِ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - مِنْ عَمَلٍ فِي عَشْرِ ذِي الْحِجَّةِ إِلَّا رَجُلٌ يَخْرُجُ بِمَالِهِ وَنَفْسِهِ، ثُمَّ لَا يَرْجِعُ

    ✧ There is no deed more beloved to God—Mighty and Majestic—than a deed done in the ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah, except a man who goes out with his wealth and his life, then does not return.

    خَمِّرُوا آنِيَتَكُمْ، وَأَوْكُوا أَسْقِيَتَكُمْ، وَأَجِيفُوا أَبْوَابَكُمْ، وَأَطْفِئُوا سُرُجَكُمْ؛ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لَا يَفْتَحُ بَابًا مُجَافًا، وَلَا يَكْشِفُ غِطَاءً، وَلَا يَحُلُّ وِكَاءً، وَإِنَّ الْفُوَيْسِقَةَ تُضْرِمُ عَلَى أَهْلِ الْبَيْتِ بَيْتَهُمْ فِي النَّارِ

    ✧ Cover your vessels, tie your waterskins, shut your doors, and extinguish your lamps; for Satan does not open a shut door, nor uncover a cover, nor untie a waterskin. And indeed the little vermin may set ablaze the house upon its occupants.

    ✧ The Prophet ﷺ sold a mudabbar (slave promised freedom upon his owner's death) belonging to Nuʿaym b. ʿAbdallāh.

    إِذَا بَلَغَ بَنُو الْعَاصِ ثَلَاثِينَ رَجُلًا اتَّخَذُوا دِينَ اللهِ دَغَلًا، وَمَالَ اللهِ دُوَلًا، وَعِبَادَ اللهِ خَوَلًا

    ✧ When the Banū al-ʿĀṣ reach thirty men, they will take the religion of God as a means of deceit, the wealth of God as private property, and the servants of God as slaves.

    أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ مَرَّ بِقَوْمٍ يَرْمُونَ وَهُمْ يَحْلِفُونَ، أَخْطَأْتَ وَاللهِ، أَصَبْتَ وَاللهِ، فَلَمَّا رَأَوْا رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَمْسَكُوا، فَقَالَ: ارْمُوا فَإِنَّ أَيْمَانَ الرُّمَاةِ لَغْوٌ لَا حِنْثَ فِيهَا وَلَا كَفَّارَةَ

    ✧ The Prophet ﷺ passed by some people shooting arrows while swearing, saying: "You missed, by God!" and "You hit, by God!" When they saw the Messenger of God ﷺ, they stopped. He said: "Shoot, for the oaths of archers are futile; there is no sin in them and no expiation."

    دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَكَّةَ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ وَعَلَى الْكَعْبَةِ ثَلَاثُمِائَةٍ وَسِتُّونَ صَنَمًا قَدْ شَدَّ لَهُمْ إِبْلِيسُ أَقْدَامَهَا بِرَصَاصٍ، فَجَاءَ وَمَعَهُ قَضِيبٌ، فَجَعَلَ يَهْوِي بِهِ إِلَى كُلِّ صَنَمٍ مِنْهَا فَيَخِرُّ لِوَجْهِهِ، فَيَقُولُ: جَاءَ الْحَقُّ وَزَهَقَ الْبَاطِلُ، إِنَّ الْبَاطِلَ كَانَ زَهُوقًا، حَتَّى مَرَّ عَلَيْهَا كُلِّهَا

    ✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ entered Makkah on the Day of the Conquest, and around the Kaʿbah there were three hundred and sixty idols, Iblīs having fastened their feet with lead. He came with a stick and began striking each idol with it, and it would fall on its face, while he said: "The truth has come, and falsehood has vanished. Indeed, falsehood is bound to vanish" [Qur'an 17:81], until he had passed by all of them.

    إِنَّ الْمُسْلِمَ لِيُصَلِّيَ وَخَطَايَاهُ مَوْضُوعَةٌ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ، فَكُلَّمَا سَجَدَ تَحَاتَّتْ عَنْهُ، فَتَفْرُغُ حِينَ يَفْرُغُ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ، وَقَدْ تَحَاتَّتْ خَطَايَاهُ

    ✧ A Muslim prays while his sins are placed upon his head. Every time he prostrates, they fall away from him, so by the time he finishes his prayer, his sins have fallen away.

    ✧ For the traveler, (the period for wiping over leather socks) is three days and their nights, and for the resident, one day and one night.

    ✧ You are in a time when whoever abandons a tenth of what he has been commanded will perish; and a time will come when whoever acts upon a tenth of what he has been commanded will be saved.

    أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ خَطَبَ أُمَّ مُبَشِّرٍ بِنْتَ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ مَعْرُورٍ، فَقَالَتْ: إِنِّي شَرَطْتُ لِزَوْجِي أَنْ لَا أَتَزَوَّجَ بَعْدَهُ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ - ﷺ: إِنَّ هَذَا لَا يَصْلُحُ

    ✧ The Prophet ﷺ proposed to Umm Mubashshir bt. al-Barāʾ b. Maʿrūr, and she said: "I made a condition with my husband that I would not marry after him." The Prophet ﷺ said: "This is not proper."

    مَا عَلَى أَحَدِكُمْ إِذَا أَلَحَّ بِهِ هَمُّهُ أَنْ يَتَقَلَّدَ قَوْسَهُ، فَيَنْفِي بِهِ هَمَّهُ

    ✧ What is wrong with one of you, when a worry presses upon him, that he should take up his bow and thereby dispel his worry?

    ✧ Whoever builds a mosque for God, God will build for him a house in Paradise.

    كَانَ قِيَامُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَرِيضَةً حِينَ أَنْزَلَ اللهُ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - يَا أَيُّهَا الْمُزَّمِّلُ قُمِ اللَّيْلَ إِلا قَلِيلا، فَكَانَ أَوَّلَ فَرِيضَةٍ، فَكَانُوا يَقُومُونَ حَتَّى تَتَفَطَّرَ أَقْدَامُهُمْ، وَحَبَسَ اللهُ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - آخِرَ السُّورَةِ عَنْهُمْ حَوْلًا، ثُمَّ أَنْزَلَ عَلِمَ أَنْ لَنْ تُحْصُوهُ فَتَابَ عَلَيْكُمْ فَاقْرَءُوا مَا تَيَسَّرَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ، فَصَارَ قِيَامُ اللَّيْلِ تَطَوُّعًا

    ✧ The night prayer of the Messenger of God ﷺ was obligatory when God, Mighty and Majestic, revealed: "O you wrapped in garments, arise to pray the night, except a little" [Qur'an 73:1–2]. It was the first obligation, and they used to pray until their feet became cracked. God, Mighty and Majestic, withheld the end of the surah from them for a year, then He revealed: "He knows that you will not be able to keep count of it, so He has turned to you in mercy; recite, then, what is easy of the Qur'an" [Qur'an 73:20]. Thus the night prayer became voluntary.

    يَقْطَعُ الصَّلَاةَ الْكَلْبُ الْأَسْوَدُ، وَالْمَرْأَةُ، وَالْحِمَارُ، فَقُلْتُ: مَا بَالُ الْكَلْبِ الْأَسْوَدِ مِنَ الْأَبْيَضِ ؟ قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَمَا سَأَلْتَنِي، فَقَالَ: الْكَلْبُ الْأَسْوَدُ شَيْطَانٌ

    ✧ The prayer is cut off by the black dog, the woman, and the donkey. I said: What is it with the black dog as opposed to the white one? He said: I asked the Messenger of God ﷺ just as you asked me, and he said: 'The black dog is a devil.'

    الْتَقَى حُذَيْفَةُ بْنُ الْيَمَانِ، وَعُقْبَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو أَبُو مَسْعُودٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ، فَقَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا لِصَاحِبِهِ: حَدِّثْنَا مَا سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَحَدَّثَ أَحَدُهُمَا وَصَدَّقَهُ الْآخَرُ، فَقَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا: يُؤْتَى بِعَبْدٍ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَيُوقَفُ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ اللهِ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ -، فَيَقُولُ: مَا وَرَاؤُكَ ؟ فَيَقُولُ: كُنْتُ أُبَايِعُ النَّاسَ، فَإِذَا بَايَعْتُ مُعْسِرًا تَرَكْتُ لَهُ، وَإِذَا بَايَعْتُ مُوسِرًا أَنْظَرْتُهُ، فَيَقُولُ اللهُ: أَنَا أَحَقُّ بِالتَّجَوُّزِ عَنْ عَبْدِي فَيَغْفِرُ لَهُ، فَقَالَ الْآخَرُ: صَدَقْتَ، هَكَذَا سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ

    ✧ Hudhayfa b. al-Yaman and 'Uqba b. 'Amr, Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari, met. One of them said to his companion: 'Narrate to me what you heard from the Messenger of God ﷺ.' One of them narrated and the other confirmed him. One of them said: 'A servant will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and made to stand before God – Mighty and Majestic – and He will say: "What do you have to your credit?" He will say: "I used to engage in transactions with people. When I dealt with someone in difficulty, I let him off; and when I dealt with someone well-off, I gave him respite." God will say: "I am more entitled than My servant to be lenient," and He will forgive him.' The other said: 'You have spoken the truth. Thus I heard it from the Messenger of God.'

    ✧ In every prayer, recitation is done. What the Messenger of God ﷺ made us hear, we made you hear; and what he concealed from us, we concealed from you.

    ✧ Bilal used to give the call to prayer in pairs, and he pronounced the testimony of faith emphatically, facing the qibla. He would say: 'I bear witness that there is no god but God' – twice; 'I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of God' – twice. Then he would repeat them, saying: 'I bear witness that there is no god but God' – twice; 'I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of God' – twice, facing the qibla. Then he would turn to his right and say: 'Come to prayer' – twice. Then he would turn to his left and say: 'Come to success' – twice. Then he would face the qibla and say: 'God is most great, God is most great. There is no god but God.' His iqama was single: 'The prayer has been established' – once. He used to give the call to prayer on Friday for the Friday prayer during the time of the Messenger of God ﷺ when the shadow became like a sandal strap.

    ✧ He used to begin on the two 'ids with the prayer before the sermon, then he would say takbir in the first [rak'ah] seven times before the recitation, and in the second [rak'ah] five times before the recitation. He used to go out on the two 'ids walking and return walking, and he used to say takbir between the parts of the sermon, and he would say takbir frequently on the two 'ids.

    ✧ The Prophet ﷺ said one day to a boy from the Ansar: 'Hand me my sandals.' The boy said: 'O Prophet of Allah, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you, leave me so that I may put them on your feet myself.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'O Allah, this servant of Yours seeks Your pleasure, so be pleased with him.'

    ✧ Whoever loves the Ansar, it is out of love for me; and whoever hates the Ansar, it is out of hatred for me. [Mu'awiyah] said: 'Choose whichever land you wish, for you will not return to Hadramawt.' I said: 'My kinsfolk are in Syria and my household is in Kufa.' He said: 'One man from your household is better than ten from your kinsfolk.' I said: 'I did not return to Hadramawt out of delight in it. It is not appropriate for an emigrant to return to the place from which he emigrated except for a reason.' He said: 'What is your reason?' I said: 'The saying of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the fitnas: wherever you differ, we shall withdraw from you; and wherever you unite, we shall come to you. This is the reason.' He said: 'I have appointed you governor of Kufa, so go to it.' I said: 'After the Prophet ﷺ I have no need of anyone. Do you not see that Abu Bakr wanted me and I refused, 'Umar wanted me and I refused, and 'Uthman wanted me and I refused, yet I did not abandon giving allegiance to them? The letter of Abu Bakr came to me when the people of our region apostatized, and I stood among them until Allah returned them to Islam without any appointment.' Then he called 'Abd al-Rahman b. al-Hakam and said to him: 'I have appointed you governor of Kufa. Go with Wa'il b. Hujr, honor him, and fulfill his needs.' He said: 'O Commander of the Believers, you thought ill of me. You command me to honor a man whom I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ honor, as well as Abu Bakr, 'Umar, 'Uthman, and you?' Mu'awiyah was pleased with that from him. I arrived with him in Kufa, and he did not remain long before he died. - Muhammad b. Hujr said: al-wirat are the 'ammar (builders), al-aqwal are the kings, al-'ayahilah are the great ones. In the al-Maktab al-Islami edition it was corrupted as (al-Muhajirin Abi Umayyah), but it is correct in the manuscripts and the 'Ilmiyyah edition.

    ✧ She abandons the prayer during the days of her menstrual periods, then she performs a full bath once, then she performs ablution for the like of the days of her menstrual periods; and if she sees a yellowish discharge, she sprinkles water, performs ablution, and prays.
