Chain of narrators

machine translationAnd with his chain of narration:

✧ Bilal used to give the call to prayer in pairs, and he pronounced the testimony of faith emphatically, facing the qibla. He would say: 'I bear witness that there is no god but God' – twice; 'I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of God' – twice. Then he would repeat them, saying: 'I bear witness that there is no god but God' – twice; 'I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of God' – twice, facing the qibla. Then he would turn to his right and say: 'Come to prayer' – twice. Then he would turn to his left and say: 'Come to success' – twice. Then he would face the qibla and say: 'God is most great, God is most great. There is no god but God.' His iqama was single: 'The prayer has been established' – once. He used to give the call to prayer on Friday for the Friday prayer during the time of the Messenger of God ﷺ when the shadow became like a sandal strap.

machine translationWhen al-Ishbīlī mentioned a hadith with this chain of transmission from Abū Aḥmad, he followed it with his statement: The hadith of Abū Dāwūd and al-Tirmidhī is more authentic.

    in المعجم الصغير, p. 1176
  • Ibn al-Qaṭṭān

machine translationIf this statement of his is a declaration of weakness, as is my assumption, then know that its defect is that the aforementioned ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, his father and his grandfather are all of unknown condition.
