✧ Banu Sa'd b. Bakr sent Dimam b. Tha'laba to the Messenger of God ﷺ. He came to him, made his camel kneel at the door of the mosque, then hobbled it, then entered the mosque while the Messenger of God ﷺ was sitting in the mosque. Dimam was a man with thick hair and two locks, until he stood over the Messenger of God ﷺ and his Companions and said, "Which of you is of Banu 'Abd al-Muttalib?" The Messenger of God ﷺ said, "I am the son of 'Abd al-Muttalib." He said, "Muhammad?" He said, "Yes." He said, "O son of 'Abd al-Muttalib, I am going to question you and be harsh in my questioning, so do not take it personally." He said, "I will not take it personally; ask about whatever comes to you." He said, "I adjure you by God, your God and the God of those before you and the God of those after you: Has God commanded you to command us to worship God alone, not associating anything with Him, and to cast off these rivals that our fathers used to worship besides Him?" He said, "O God, yes." He said, "I adjure you by God, your God and the God of those before you and the God of those after you: Has God commanded you to command us to perform these five prayers?" He said, "O God, yes." Then he began mentioning the obligations of Islam one by one: zakat, fasting, Hajj, and all the laws of Islam, adjuring him at each obligation as he had adjured him in the previous one. When he finished, he said, "I bear witness that there is no god but God, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of God. I will fulfill these obligations and avoid what you have forbidden me, not adding to it or diminishing it." Then he turned away toward his camel. The Messenger of God ﷺ said, "If the one with the two locks is truthful, he will enter Paradise."

✧ A bedouin from Banu Sa'd b. Bakr came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said, "Peace be upon you, O boy of Banu 'Abd al-Muttalib." The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "And peace be upon you." I am going to question you, so my questioning will be intense, and I will adjure you, so my adjuration will be intense." The Prophet ﷺ said to him, "Go ahead, O brother of Banu Sa'd." He said, "Who created you, and who created those before you, and who is the Creator of those after you?" He said, "God." He said, "I adjure you by that: Is it He who sent you?" He said, "Yes." He said, "Tell me: Who created the seven heavens and the seven earths, and made provision flow between them?" He said, "God." He said, "I adjure you by that: Is it He who sent you?" He said, "Yes." He said, "We have found in your book, and your messengers commanded us, that we should pray night and day five prayers at their times. I adjure you by that: Is it He who commanded you?" I adjure you by that: Is it He who commanded you?" He said, "Yes." He said, "As for the fifth, I am not asking about it, and I have no need of it" — meaning obscene acts. Then he said, "By the One who sent you with the truth, I will act upon these and whoever obeys me among my people." Then he turned back.
