✧ Banu Sa'd b. Bakr sent Dimam b. Tha'laba to the Messenger of God ﷺ. He came to him, made his camel kneel at the door of the mosque, then hobbled it, then entered the mosque while the Messenger of God ﷺ was sitting in the mosque. Dimam was a man with thick hair and two locks, until he stood over the Messenger of God ﷺ and his Companions and said, "Which of you is of Banu 'Abd al-Muttalib?" The Messenger of God ﷺ said, "I am the son of 'Abd al-Muttalib." He said, "Muhammad?" He said, "Yes." He said, "O son of 'Abd al-Muttalib, I am going to question you and be harsh in my questioning, so do not take it personally." He said, "I will not take it personally; ask about whatever comes to you." He said, "I adjure you by God, your God and the God of those before you and the God of those after you: Has God commanded you to command us to worship God alone, not associating anything with Him, and to cast off these rivals that our fathers used to worship besides Him?" He said, "O God, yes." He said, "I adjure you by God, your God and the God of those before you and the God of those after you: Has God commanded you to command us to perform these five prayers?" He said, "O God, yes." Then he began mentioning the obligations of Islam one by one: zakat, fasting, Hajj, and all the laws of Islam, adjuring him at each obligation as he had adjured him in the previous one. When he finished, he said, "I bear witness that there is no god but God, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of God. I will fulfill these obligations and avoid what you have forbidden me, not adding to it or diminishing it." Then he turned away toward his camel. The Messenger of God ﷺ said, "If the one with the two locks is truthful, he will enter Paradise."
