    ✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ dispatched a detachment in which I was present. Our shares reached twelve camels per man, and the Messenger of God ﷺ gave us an additional camel each after that.

    مَنْ كَظَمَ غَيْظًا وَهُوَ قَادِرٌ عَلَى إِنْفَاذِهِ خَيَّرَهُ اللهُ مِنَ الْحُورِ الْعِينِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ، وَمَنْ تَرَكَ ثَوْبَ جَمَالٍ وَهُوَ قَادِرٌ عَلَيْهِ كَسَاهُ اللهُ رِدَاءَ الْإِيمَانِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ، وَمَنْ أَنْكَحَ عَبْدًا وَضَعَ اللهُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ تَاجَ الْمُلْكِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ

    ✧ Whoever suppresses anger while able to carry it out, God will let him choose any of the wide-eyed maidens on the Day of Resurrection; whoever gives up a beautiful garment while able to have it, God will clothe him in the cloak of faith on the Day of Resurrection; and whoever arranges a marriage for a slave, God will place the crown of sovereignty on his head on the Day of Resurrection.

    قُلْتُ لِأَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَرِنَا كَيْفَ صَلَاةُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ؟ فَقَامَ فَصَلَّى، " فَكَانَ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ مَعَ كُلِّ تَكْبِيرَةٍ "، فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ: هَكَذَا كَانَ صَلَاةُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ

    ✧ I said to Anas b. Malik, 'Show us how the Messenger of God ﷺ prayed.' He stood and prayed, raising his hands with every takbir. When he finished, he said, 'This is how the Messenger of God ﷺ prayed.'

    ✧ The angels washed Adam with water and lote-tree leaves, shrouded him, dug a niche grave for him, and buried him. They said, 'This is your practice, O children of Adam, for your dead.'

    ✧ I went with my father to the Messenger of God ﷺ, and behold, he had long hair with traces of henna, wearing two green garments.

    أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ صَلَّى بِهِمُ الْهَاجِرَةَ، فَرَفَعَ صَوْتَهُ فَقَرَأَ: وَالشَّمْسِ وَضُحَاهَا وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَى فَقَالَ لَهُ أُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أُمِرْتَ فِي هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةِ بِشَيْءٍ ؟ قَالَ: لَا، وَلَكِنِّي أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أُوَقِّتَ لَكُمْ صَلَاتَكُمْ

    ✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ led them in the noon prayer and raised his voice, reciting, 'By the sun and its brightness' and 'By the night when it covers.' Ubayy b. Ka'b said to him, 'O Messenger of God, have you been commanded something regarding this prayer?' He said, 'No, but I wanted to set a time for your prayer.'

    رَخَّصَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْعَصَا، وَالسَّوْطِ، وَالْحَبْلِ، وَأَشْبَاهِهِ، يَلْتَقِطُهُ الْمُحْرِمُ فَيُحْرِزُهُ

    ✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ allowed [the picking up of] a staff, a whip, a rope, and the like, which a pilgrim in ihram may take and keep for himself.

    ✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ once prayed Fajr and made it very dark, then he prayed it another day and let it become light, then he said: "The time is between those two."

    ✧ The most wretched of the wretched is one upon whom the poverty of this world and the punishment of the Hereafter are combined.

    ✧ Thirty [years] of prophethood and kingship, then thirty of kingship and tyranny, and after that there is no good in it.

    إِذَا رَأَيْتَ اللهَ يُعْطِي الْعَبْدَ مَا يُحِبُّ وَهُوَ مُقِيمٌ عَلَى مَعَاصِيهِ فَإِنَّمَا ذَلِكَ لَهُ مِنْهُ اسْتِدْرَاجٌ ثُمَّ نَزَعَ بِهَذِهِ الْآيَةِ فَلَمَّا نَسُوا مَا ذُكِّرُوا بِهِ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ أَبْوَابَ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى إِذَا فَرِحُوا بِمَا أُوتُوا أَخَذْنَاهُمْ بَغْتَةً فَإِذَا هُمْ مُبْلِسُونَ فَقُطِعَ دَابِرُ الْقَوْمِ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا وَالْحَمْدُ لِلهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

    ✧ When you see Allah giving a servant what he loves while he persists in disobedience to Him, that is only a gradual lure from Him to him. Then he recited this verse: 'So when they forgot what they had been reminded of, We opened for them the gates of everything, until when they rejoiced in what they had been given, We seized them suddenly, and they were plunged into despair. So the last remnant of the people who wronged was cut off, and praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.'

    لَمَّا حَضَرَتْ عُبَادَةَ الْوَفَاةُ، وَأَنَا عِنْدَ رَأْسِهِ أَبْكِي، قَالَ: مَا يُبْكِيكَ ؟ فَقُلْتُ: مَا لِي لَا أَبْكِي عَنْ نَفْعِكَ إِيَّايَ وَمَنْفَعَتِي مِنْكَ ؟ قَالَ: وَاللهِ مَا كَتَمْتُكَ كَلِمَةً سَمِعْتُهَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَّا وَاحِدَةً، وَأَنَا مُحَدِّثُكَهَا، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: مَنْ قَالَ: لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ، أَطَاعَ بِهَا قَلْبُهُ، وَذَلَّ بِهَا لِسَانُهُ حَرَّمَهُ اللهُ عَلَى النَّارِ

    ✧ When 'Ubada was near death and I was at his head weeping, he said, 'What makes you weep?' I said, 'Why should I not weep over your benefit to me and my benefit from you?' He said, 'By Allah, I have not concealed from you a single word I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ except one, and I will tell it to you. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Whoever says "There is no god but Allah, alone, with no partner," with his heart obedient to it and his tongue humble with it, Allah will forbid him to the Fire.'

    أَنَّ الصَّلَاةَ فُرِضَتْ أَوَّلَ مَا فُرِضَتْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، فَزِيدَ فِي صَلَاةِ الْحَضَرِ، وَأُقِرَّتْ صَلَاةُ السَّفَرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ

    ✧ Prayer was originally prescribed as two rak'ahs when it was first made obligatory. Then it was increased for the resident prayer, while the traveler's prayer remained two rak'ahs.

    مَرَّ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِابْنِ صَيَّادٍ، وَهُوَ يَلْعَبُ مَعَ صِبْيَانٍ، فَعَرَفَهُ، فَقَدِمَهُ، فَقَالَ: " أَتَشْهَدُ أَنِّي رَسُولُ اللهِ ؟ " قَالَ ابْنُ الصَّيَّادِ: أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ نَبِيُّ الْأُمِّيِّينَ، فَتَشْهَدُ أَنِّي رَسُولُ اللهِ ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " آمَنْتُ بِاللهِ وَرُسُلِهِ

    ✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by Ibn Sayyad while he was playing with some boys. He recognized him, so he went up to him and said, "Do you bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah?" Ibn al-Sayyad said, "I bear witness that you are the Prophet of the unlettered. Do you bear witness that I am the Messenger of Allah?" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I believe in Allah and His messengers."

    لَا تَقْتُلُوا الْجَرَادَ؛ فَإِنَّهُ جُنْدُ اللهِ الْأَعْظَمُ

    ✧ Do not kill locusts, for it is the mighty army of Allah.

    تُنْسَخُ دَوَاوِينُ أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ فِي دَوَاوِينِ أَهْلِ السَّمَاءِ فِي كُلِّ اثْنَيْنٍ وَخَمِيسٍ، فَيُغْفَرُ لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ لَا يُشْرِكُ بِاللهِ شَيْئًا، إِلَّا رَجُلًا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ أَخِيهِ شَحْنَاءُ

    ✧ The records of the people of the earth are copied into the records of the people of heaven every Monday and Thursday, and every Muslim who does not associate anything with Allah is forgiven, except a man between whom and his brother there is enmity.

    كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِمَّا يَقْرَأُ فِي صَلَاةِ الْجُمُعَةِ بِالْجُمُعَةِ، فَيُحَرِّضُ بِهِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، وَفِي الثَّانِيَةِ بِسُورَةِ الْمُنَافِقِينَ فَيُفْزِعُ بِهِ الْمُنَافِقِينَ

    ✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to recite Surah al-Jumu'ah in the Friday prayer, thereby stirring the believers, and in the second rak'ah Surah al-Munafiqun, thereby alarming the hypocrites.

    ثَلَاثَةٌ لَا يَهُولُهُمُ الْفَزَعُ، وَلَا يَنَالُهُمُ الْحِسَابُ، عَلَى كَثِيبٍ مِنْ مِسْكٍ حَتَّى يَفْرَغَ اللهُ مِنْ حِسَابِ الْعِبَادِ: رَجُلٌ قَرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ اللهِ، فَأَمَّ بِهِ قَوْمًا وَهُمْ رَاضُونَ بِهِ، وَدَاعِيَةٌ يَدْعُو إِلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ الْخَمْسِ ابْتِغَاءَ وَجْهِ اللهِ، وَعَبْدٌ أَحْسَنَ مَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ رَبِّهِ، وَفِيمَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ مَوَالِيهِ

    ✧ Three will not be terrified by the great fright, nor will they be brought to account: they will be on a hill of musk until Allah finishes the reckoning of His servants: a man who recites the Qur'an seeking the face of Allah and leads a people in prayer while they are pleased with him; a caller who calls to the five prayers seeking the face of Allah; and a slave who excels in what is between him and his Lord and in what is between him and his masters.

    ✧ Whoever lies about me deliberately, let him take his seat in the Fire.

    كُنْتُ عِنْدَ عَائِشَةَ، وَعِنْدَهَا كَعْبٌ الْحَبْرُ فَذَكَرَ إِسْرَافِيلَ، فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ: يَا كَعْبُ، أَخْبِرْنِي عَنْ إِسْرَافِيلَ، فَقَالَ كَعْبٌ: عِنْدَكُمُ الْعِلْمُ، فَقَالَتْ: أَجَلْ، فَأَخْبِرْنِي، قَالَ: لَهُ أَرْبَعَةُ أَجْنِحَةٍ، جَنَاحَانِ فِي الْهَوَاءِ، وَجَنَاحٌ قَدْ تَسَرْبَلَ بِهِ، وَجَنَاحٌ عَلَى كَاهِلِهِ، وَالْعَرْشُ عَلَى كَاهِلِهِ وَالْقَلَمُ عَلَى أُذُنِهِ، فَإِذَا نَزَلَ الْوَحْيُ كَتَبَ الْقَلَمُ، ثُمَّ دَرَسَتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ، وَمَلَكُ الصُّورِ جَاثٍ عَلَى إِحْدَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ، وَقَدْ نُصِبَتِ الْأُخْرَى، فَالْتَقَمَ الصُّورَ، مَحْنِيٌّ ظَهْرُهُ، شَاخِصٌ بَصَرُهُ إِلَى إِسْرَافِيلَ، وَقَدْ أُمِرَ إِذَا رَأَى إِسْرَافِيلَ قَدْ ضَمَّ جَنَاحَهُ أَنْ يَنْفُخَ فِي الصُّورِ "، فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ: " هَكَذَا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ

    ✧ I was with 'A'ishah, and Ka'b al-Ahbar was with her. He mentioned Israfil, and 'A'ishah said, "O Ka'b, tell me about Israfil." Ka'b said, "You have the knowledge." She said, "Yes, so tell me." He said, "He has four wings: two wings in the air, one wing with which he is enshrouded, and one wing upon his shoulder. The Throne is upon his shoulder and the Pen is upon his ear. When revelation descends, the Pen writes, then the angels study it. The angel of the Trumpet is kneeling on one knee, with the other knee raised, and he has put the Trumpet to his mouth, his back bent, his gaze fixed on Israfil. He has been commanded that when he sees Israfil fold his wing, he should blow the Trumpet." 'A'ishah said, "Thus I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say."
