✧ That when the Prophet ﷺ was dying, Safiyya said: O Messenger of Allah, every woman among your wives has family to whom she can turn, and you have expelled my family. If something happens, to whom should I turn? He said: "To Ali b. Abi Talib ؓ."

✧ That the delegation of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by Umm Zubayb and took her carpet. Zubayb caught up with the Prophet ﷺ and said: O Prophet of Allah, the delegation took my mother's carpet. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Return his mother's carpet to him." So he took from the one who took his mother's carpet a measure of barley, his sword, and his belt. Then the Prophet ﷺ raised his hand and wiped Zubayb's head with it, then said: "May Allah bless you, O boy, and bless your mother." Musa b. Harun said: The carpet (zirbiyya) is a covering heavier than a ziliyya. Allah ﷻ said: {And rich carpets spread out} (Q 88:16), meaning spread out.

✧ I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a raid. They traveled at night for a while, then they stopped. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me and said: "O Dhū Makhmar." I said: "At your service, O Messenger of Allah, at your service." He took hold of the head of my she-camel and said: "Sit here and do not be a lukaʿ tonight." So I took hold of the she-camel's head, but my eyes overcame me and I slept. The she-camel slipped away and went off, and I did not wake up except with the heat of the sun. The Prophet ﷺ came to me and said: "O Dhū Makhmar." I said: "At your service, O Messenger of Allah, at your service." He said: "By Allah, last night you were a lukaʿ as I said." So we moved away from that place, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed with us. When he finished the prayer, he supplicated that the she-camel be brought back, and a whirlwind came driving her. The next day, when dawn broke, he ordered Bilāl, so he gave the call to prayer, then he ordered him, so he gave the iqāmah, then he prayed with us. When he finished the prayer, he said: "This is our prayer from yesterday." Then he started the prayer of that day afresh."

Then you and they will raid a common enemy, and you will be victorious, take spoils, and be safe. Then you will depart until you encamp in a meadow with hills. A man from among the Christians will raise a cross and say, 'The cross has prevailed.' A Muslim man will become angry, rise to it, and smash it. ✧ That he said: "O Messenger of Allah, if we are tested with remaining after you, what do you command us?" He said: "You must keep to the House of the Holy, perhaps Allah will provide you with offspring who go there in the morning and return in the evening."

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the year of the Farewell Pilgrimage, commanding the people and forbidding them, then he said: "Have I conveyed?" They said: "O Allah, yes." He said: "O Allah, bear witness." Then he said: "Take the stipend as long as it is fresh. But when Quraysh violently wrest the kingship among themselves and the stipend becomes bribery for your religion, then leave it."

✧ He went out on the day of Uhud, and the Prophet ﷺ intended to send him back, but he insisted on going. His uncle said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, my nephew insists on going, and he is young." So he allowed him to go. He was then struck by an arrow in his chest or neck. He came to his uncle, the Prophet ﷺ, and said, "My son has been struck by an arrow." The Prophet ﷺ said, "If you leave it in him, he will die as a martyr." Abdullah bin Hussein said, "His wife told me that she used to see him showering and moving in his chest."

✧ "That Rāfiʿ b. Khadīj was hit by an arrow alongside the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of Uhud or the day of Khaybar. ʿUmar doubted it, so he went to the Prophet ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, remove the arrow.' He ﷺ replied, 'O Rāfiʿ, if you want, I will remove the arrow along with its barbs. And if you want, I will remove the arrow and leave the barbs, and I will testify for you on the Day of Judgment that you are a martyr.' So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ removed the arrow and left the barbs, and Rāfiʿ lived with them until the time of the Caliphate of Muʿāwiyah. Then the wound burst open, and he died after ʿAṣr prayer. Ibn ʿUmar came, and it was said to him, 'O Abā ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, Rāfiʿ b. Khadīj has died.' He showed mercy and said, 'A person like Rāfiʿ should not be buried without informing the villages around Madīnah.' So when we carried his funeral, Ibn ʿUmar came and sat by the head of the grave. A woman from our party shouted, 'What does this crazy woman want, harming the old man?' Ibn ʿUmar replied, 'Surely, she should not harm the sheikh, for he does not deserve Allah's punishment.'"

He began to take hold of my hand and say: "I consider you too young, and I do not know what you will do when you meet the enemy." I said: "Do I know how to shoot whoever shoots?" So he sent me back.
