حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَمُّويَهِ أَبُو سَيَّارٍ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا شَبَّابٌ الْعُصْفُرِيُّ ثنا سَهْلُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ الْعَدَوِيُّ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ ذِي اللِّحْيَةِ الْكِلَابِيِّ

أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَنَعْمَلُ فِي أَمْرٍ مُسْتَأْنَفٍ أَوْ أَمْرٍ قَدْ فُرِغَ مِنْهُ؟ قَالَ «بَلْ فِي أَمْرٍ قَدْ فُرِغَ مِنْهُ» قَالَ فَفِيمَ الْعَمَلُ؟ قَالَ «اعْمَلُوا فَكُلٌّ مُيَسَّرٌ لِمَا خُلِقَ لَهُ»

✧ That he asked the Prophet ﷺ: "Do we act in a matter newly begun or in a matter already decreed?" He said: "Rather in a matter already decreed." He said: "Then what is the point of action?" He said: "Act, for each is facilitated toward what he was created for."
