حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ النَّحْوِيُّ الصُّورِيُّ ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ثنا سُلَيْمُ بْنُ مَطِيرٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ وَادِي الْقُرَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ سَمِعْتُ ذَا الزَّوَائِدِ يَقُولُ

سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَامَ حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ أَمَرَ النَّاسَ وَنَهَاهُمْ ثُمَّ قَالَ «هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ؟» قَالُوا اللهُمَّ نَعَمْ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ اشْهَدْ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «خُذُوا الْعَطَاءَ مَا دَامَ غَضًّا فَإِذَا تَجَاحَفَتْ قُرَيْشٌ بَيْنَهَا الْمُلْكُ وَصَارَ الْعَطَاءُ رِشَاءً عَنْ دِينِكُمْ فَدَعُوهُ»

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the year of the Farewell Pilgrimage, commanding the people and forbidding them, then he said: "Have I conveyed?" They said: "O Allah, yes." He said: "O Allah, bear witness." Then he said: "Take the stipend as long as it is fresh. But when Quraysh violently wrest the kingship among themselves and the stipend becomes bribery for your religion, then leave it."
