  1. Sahih Ibn Hibban 2Weak

✧ Every matter of importance not begun with praise of Allah is cut off.

  2. Sahih Ibn Hibban 1Weak

✧ Every matter of importance not begun with praise of Allah is cut off.

  3. Sahih Ibn Hibban 5Sahih

✧ We came to al-'Irbad b. Sariyah, who was among those about whom it was revealed: "Nor upon those who, when they came to you for you to carry them, you said, 'I find nothing to carry you on.'" We greeted and said, 'We have come to you as visitors and seekers of knowledge.' Al-'Irbad said: 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed the morning prayer with us one day, then turned to us and gave us an eloquent admonition that made eyes shed tears and hearts tremble. A man said, "O Messenger of Allah, this seems like the admonition of one bidding farewell, so what do you enjoin upon us?" He said, "I enjoin you to fear Allah, to hear and obey, even if a slave, an Ethiopian with amputated limbs, is put over you. Whoever among you lives will see much disagreement, so hold to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly guided caliphs after me; cling to it firmly and bite onto it with the molar teeth. Beware of newly introduced matters, for every newly introduced matter is an innovation, and every innovation is misguidance."'

  4. Sahih Ibn Hibban 6Hasan sahih

✧ The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, drew a line for us and said, "This is the path of Allah." Then he drew other lines to the right and left of it and said, "These are paths, and there is a devil calling to each of them." Then he recited, "{And indeed, this is My path, which is straight} until the end of the verse."

  5. Sahih Ibn Hibban 7Hasan sahih

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ drew lines for us from his right and his left and said, "These are different paths, and along each path there is a devil calling to it." Then he recited the verse, "And verily, this is My straight path, so follow it, and follow not (other) paths, for they will separate you away from His path." (Quran 6:153)

  6. Sahih Ibn Hibban 8Sahih

✧ A Bedouin asked the Prophet ﷺ - and they (the Bedouins) were more entitled than his Companions to ask him - 'O Messenger of Allah, when is the Hour?' He said, 'What have you prepared for it?' He said, 'I have not prepared for it anything except that I love Allah and His Messenger.' He said, 'You will be with those whom you love.' Anas said: 'I never saw the Muslims rejoice at anything after Islam more than their rejoicing at his saying.'

  7. Sahih Ibn Hibban 9Sahih

✧ Khawlah bt. Hakim, the wife of 'Uthman b. Maz'un, entered upon 'A'ishah in disheveled state. 'A'ishah asked her, 'What is the matter with you?' She said, 'My husband prays at night and fasts during the day.' Then the Prophet ﷺ entered, and 'A'ishah mentioned that to him. The Prophet ﷺ met 'Uthman b. Maz'un and said, 'O 'Uthman, monasticism has not been prescribed for us. Do you not have in me a good example? By Allah, I am the most fearful of Allah among you and the most mindful of His limits.' ﷺ

  8. Sahih Ibn Hibban 10Sahih

✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ delivered a sermon, his eyes would redden, his voice would rise, and his anger would intensify, as if he were warning of an army saying, 'They will raid you in the morning and evening.' He would say, 'I and the Hour have been sent like these two,' and he would join his forefinger and middle finger. Then he would say, 'To proceed: the best speech is the Book of Allah, and the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad. The worst of matters are newly introduced ones; every innovation is misguidance.' Then he would say, 'I am closer to every believer than his own self. Whoever leaves wealth, it is for his family; whoever leaves debt or dependents, they are to me and upon me.'

  9. Sahih Ibn Hibban 11Sahih

✧ For every action there is a period of enthusiasm, and for every period of enthusiasm there is a period of slackening. Whoever's enthusiasm is toward my Sunnah has succeeded, and whoever's enthusiasm is toward other than that has perished.

  10. Sahih Ibn Hibban 12Sahih

✧ I have been given the Book and what is equivalent to it. Soon a satiated man on his couch will say, 'Between us and you is this Book; whatever we find in it as lawful we will deem lawful, and whatever we find in it as unlawful we will deem unlawful.' Nay, it is not so.

  11. Sahih Ibn Hibban 13Sahih

✧ Let me not find any man who, when a command of mine comes to him, whether I have commanded it or forbidden it, says, 'We do not know what this is; we have the Book of Allah, not this in it.'

  12. Sahih Ibn Hibban 14Sahih

I will not marry women; someone among them said: I will not eat meat; and someone among them said: I will not lie down in bed. He (the Holy Prophet) praised Allah and glorified Him, and said: What has happened to these people that they say so and so, whereas I observe prayer and sleep too; I observe fast and suspend observing them; I marry women also? And he who turns away from my Sunnah, he has no relation with Me (Using translation from Muslim 1401)

✧ Verily, my example and the example of what Allah has sent me with is like a man who came to his people and said, 'O my people, I have seen the army, and I am the warner, so a group of his people obeyed him and went at their own pace and were saved, but a group of them disbelieved him, so they remained in their places, and the army came upon them in the morning and destroyed them and annihilated them. That is the example of one who obeys me and follows what I have brought, and the example of one who disobeys me and disbelieves what I have brought of the truth.'

  14. Sahih Ibn Hibban 4No grade recorded

✧ The example of what Allah has given me of guidance and knowledge is like abundant rain falling on land. A portion of it was good and accepted it, producing abundant pasture and grass, and retained the water, so Allah benefited people through it: they drank from it, watered their animals, and cultivated. Another portion was barren, retaining no water and producing no pasture. That is the example of one who understands the religion of Allah and benefits from what Allah sent me with, so he learns and acts; and the example of one who pays no attention to that and does not accept the guidance of Allah with which I was sent.

  15. Sahih Ibn Hibban 16Sahih

✧ When the call to prayer is given, Satan retreats, passing wind so as not to hear the call. When the call is finished, he returns. When the iqamah is given, he retreats; when the iqamah is finished, he returns, whispering between a man and his soul, 'Remember this, remember that,' things he had not remembered, until the man does not know how many rak'ahs he has prayed. If he does not know how many he has prayed, let him prostrate twice while sitting.

  16. Sahih Ibn Hibban 17Sahih

✧ By the One in whose hand is my soul, you will all enter Paradise except the one who refuses and flees from Allah as a camel flees. They said: O Messenger of Allah, who refuses to enter Paradise? He said: Whoever obeys me enters Paradise, and whoever disobeys me has refused.

  17. Sahih Ibn Hibban 18Sahih

✧ Leave me with what I have left you, for those before you were destroyed only by their excessive questioning and their disagreement with their prophets. Whatever I forbid you, avoid it, and whatever I command you, do of it what you are able.

  18. Sahih Ibn Hibban 19Sahih

✧ Those before you were destroyed only by their questioning and their disagreement with their prophets. So when I forbid you from something, avoid it, and when I command you with something, do of it what you are able.

  19. Sahih Ibn Hibban 20Sahih

✧ Whatever I forbid you from something, avoid it, and whatever I command you with the command, do of it what you are able.

  20. Sahih Ibn Hibban 21Sahih

✧ Leave me with what I have left you, for those before you were destroyed only by their questioning and their disagreement with their prophets. So when I forbid you from something, avoid it, and when I command you with something, do of it what you are able.

  21. Sahih Ibn Hibban 22Sahih

✧ The Prophet ﷺ heard sounds and said: What are these sounds? They said: They are pollinating date palms. He said: If they did not do so, it would be fine. So they stopped and did not pollinate most of them, and it became stunted. That was mentioned to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: If something pertains to your worldly affairs, it is your concern, and if something pertains to your religious affairs, then to me.

  22. Sahih Ibn Hibban 23Hasan sahih

✧ The Prophet of Allah ﷺ came to Madinah while they were pollinating date palms, saying "they were fertilizing them." He said: What are you doing? They said: Something they used to do. He said: If you did not do it, it would be better. So they left it, and it shed or decreased. They mentioned that to him, and he ﷺ said: I am only a human. If I tell you something regarding your religion, then take it, and if I tell you something regarding your worldly affairs, then I am only a human.

✧ A man from the Ansar disputed with al-Zubayr before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the channels of the Harrah through which they irrigated date palms. The Ansari said: Let the water flow. Al-Zubayr refused. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Irrigate, O Zubayr, then release to your neighbor. The Ansari became angry and said: O Messenger of Allah, is it because he is your cousin? The face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ changed color, then he said: Irrigate, O Zubayr, then hold back the water until it returns to the wall. Al-Zubayr said: By Allah, I think this verse was revealed about that: "But no, by your Lord, they will not believe until they make you judge concerning what arises between them..."

✧ Ali sent gold in tanned leather to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from Yemen, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ divided it among Zayd al-Khayl, al-Aqra' b. Habis, 'Uyaynah b. Hisn, and 'Alqamah b. 'Ulathah. Some people among the Muhajirun and Ansar said: We are more entitled to this. That reached the Prophet ﷺ and it distressed him. He said: Will you not trust me when I am the trustee of the One in heaven? The news of the One in heaven comes to me morning and evening. Then a man with protruding eyes, prominent cheekbones, a receding forehead, a thick beard, a shaved head, and a raised lower garment stood and said: O Messenger of Allah, fear Allah. The Prophet ﷺ said: Am I not the most entitled of the people of the earth to fear Allah? Then he turned away. Khalid, the sword of Allah, stood and said: O Messenger of Allah, shall I strike his neck? He said: No, perhaps he prays. Khalid said: How many a praying person says with his tongue what is not in his heart. He said: I have not been commanded to open people's hearts or split their bellies. He ﷺ looked at him while he was turning away and said: From the loins of this man will come a people who recite the Book of Allah but it does not pass their throats; they pass through the religion as an arrow passes through the target. 'Umarah said: I think he said: If I catch them, I will kill them as Thamud was killed.

✧ A man made bequests that he confirmed in his wealth, so I went to al-Qasim b. Muhammad to consult him. Al-Qasim said: I heard A'ishah say: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Whoever introduces into this matter of ours what is not from it, it is rejected.

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw a gold ring on a man’s hand, so he removed it and threw it aside and said, “Would one of you take a live ember from the Fire and place it in his hand?” Then, after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had gone, it was said to the man, “Take your ring and benefit from it.” He replied, “No, by Allah, I will never take it, after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has thrown it aside.”

✧ Among the greatest of slanders are three: that a man invents against himself, saying he saw a dream when he saw nothing; or that a man fabricates against his parents, attributing himself to other than his father; or that he says he heard from me when he did not hear from me.
