أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ الْكَلَاعِيُّ بِحِمْصَ حَدَّثَنَا كَثِيرُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الْمَذْحِجِيُّ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ عَنِ الزُّبَيْدِيِّ عَنْ مَرْوَانَ بْنِ رُؤْبَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عَوْفٍ عَنِ الْمِقْدَامِ بْنِ مَعْدِ يكَرِبَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ قَالَ

«إِنِّي أُوتِيتُ الْكِتَابَ وَمَا يَعْدِلُهُ يُوشِكُ شَبْعَانٌ عَلَى أَرِيكَتِهِ أَنْ يَقُولَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمْ هَذَا الْكِتَابُ فَمَا كَانَ فِيهِ مِنْ حَلَالٍ أَحْلَلْنَاهُ وَمَا كَانَ فِيهِ مِنْ حَرَامٍ حَرَّمْنَاهُ أَلَا وَإِنَّهُ لَيْسَ كَذَلِكَ»

✧ I have been given the Book and what is equivalent to it. Soon a satiated man on his couch will say, 'Between us and you is this Book; whatever we find in it as lawful we will deem lawful, and whatever we find in it as unlawful we will deem unlawful.' Nay, it is not so.
