Sunan ad-Darimi 2133Sahih
أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لَيْلَةَ أُسْرِيَ بِهِ بِإِيلِيَاءَ بِقَدَحَيْنِ مِنْ خَمْرٍ وَلَبَنٍ فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِمَا ثُمَّ أَخَذَ اللَّبَنَ فَقَالَ جِِبْرَائِِيلُ «الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي هَدَاكَ لِلْفِطْرَةِ لَوْ أَخَذْتَ الْخَمْرَ غَوَتْ أُمَّتُكَ»
✧ The Prophet ﷺ was brought two cups in Iliya' on the night he was taken on the night journey, one of wine and one of milk. He looked at them and then took the milk. Jibril said, 'Praise be to Allah who guided you to the fitrah. Had you taken the wine, your ummah would have gone astray.'

كُنْتُ سَاقِيَ الْقَوْمِ فِي مَنْزِلِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ قََالَ فَنَزَلَ تَحْرِيمُ الْخَمْرِ قَالَ فَأَمَرَ مُنَادِيًا فَنَادَى فَقَالَ أَبُو طَلْحَةَ اخْرُجْ فَانْظُرْ مَا هَذَا قَالَ فَخَرَجْتُ فَقُلْتُ هَذَا مُنَادٍ يُنَادِي «أَلَا إِنَّ الْخَمْرَ قَدْ حُرِّمَتْ» فَقَالَ لِيَ اذْهَبْ فَأَهْرِقْهَا قَالَ فَجَرَتْ فِي سِكَكِ الْمَدِينَةِ قَالَ وَكَانَتْ خَمْرُهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْفَضِيخَ فَقَالَ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ قُتِلَ قَوْمٌ وَهِيَ فِي بُطُونِهِمْ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ ﷻ {لَيْسَ عَلَى الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ جُنَاحٌ فِيمَا طَعِمُوا إِذَا مَا اتَّقَوْا وَآمَنُوا}
✧ I was the cupbearer of the people in the house of Abu Talhah. He said: Then the prohibition of wine was revealed. He said: He ordered a caller, and he called out. Abu Talhah said, 'Go out and see what this is.' He said: I went out and said, 'This is a caller calling out: "Indeed wine has been forbidden."' He said to me, 'Go and spill it.' He said: It flowed in the streets of Madinah. He said: Their wine that day was fadikh. Some of the people said, 'Some people have been killed while it was in their bellies.' Then Allah ﷻ revealed: {There is no blame upon those who believe and do righteous deeds for what they have eaten, if they fear Allah and believe}.

«مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ فِي الدُّنْيَا ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُبْ مِنْهَا حُرِمَهَا فِي الْآخِرَةِ فَلَمْ يُسْقَهَا»
✧ "Whoever drinks wine in this world and does not repent from it will be deprived of it in the Hereafter and will not be given it to drink."

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ فِي حَائِطٍ لَهُ بِالطَّائِفِ يُقَالُ لَهُ الْوَهْطُ فَإِذَا هُوَ مُخَاصِرٌ فَتًى مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ يُزَنُّ ذَلِكَ الْفَتَى بِشُرْبِ الْخَمْرِ فَقُلْتُ خِصَالٌ بَلَغَتْنِي عَنْكَ أَنَّكَ تُحَدِّثُ بِهَا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ «قَالَ» مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ شَرْبَةً لَمْ تُقْبَلْ لَهُ صَلَاةٌ أَرْبَعِينَ صَبَاحًا فَلَمَّا أَنْ سَمِعَ الْفَتَى يَذْكُرُ الْخَمْرَ اخْتَلَجَ يَدَهُ مِنْ يَدِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ وَلَّى فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي لَا أُحِلُّ لِأَحَدٍ أَنْ يَقُولَ عَلَيَّ مَا لَمْ أَقُلْ وَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ مَنْ شَرِبَ الْخَمْرَ شَرْبَةً لَمْ تُقْبَلْ لَهُ صَلَاةٌ أَرْبَعِينَ صَبَاحًا فَإِنْ تَابَ تَابَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ فَلَا أَدْرِي فِي الثَّالِثَةِ أَمْ فِي الرَّابِعَةِ كَانَ حَقًّا عَلَى اللَّهِ أَنْ يَسْقِيَهُ مِنْ رَدْغَةِ الْخَبَالِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ
✧ I entered the garden of Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As in Ta'if, which was known as Al-Wahṭ. I found him alongside a young man from the Quraysh, who was suspected of drinking wine. I said, "There are some things reached to me about you that you report from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, that he said, 'Whoever drinks wine, none of his prayers will be accepted for forty mornings.'" When the young man heard him mention wine, he pulled his hand away from Abdullah's hand and turned away. Abdullah said, "O Allah, I do not permit anyone to say something I did not say. Indeed, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever drinks wine, none of his prayers will be accepted for forty mornings. If he repents, Allah will accept his repentance. But I do not know whether it is on the third or fourth instance that it is incumbent upon Allah to make him drink from the mud of khabal on the Day of Resurrection.'"

«مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يَقْعُدْ عَلَى مَائِدَةٍ يُشْرَبُ عَلَيْهَا الْخَمْرُ»
✧ "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not sit at a table where wine is being drunk."

✧ "The child of adultery, the one who constantly reminds others of his favors, the one who is disobedient to his parents, and the one addicted to wine will not enter Paradise."

أَنَّ سُوَيْدَ بْنَ طَارِقٍ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْخَمْرِ فَنَهَاهُ عَنْهَا أَنْ يَصْنَعَهَا فَقَالَ إِنَّهَا دَوَاءٌ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «إِنَّهَا لَيْسَتْ دَوَاءً وَلَكِنَّهَا دَاءٌ»
✧ Suwayd b. Tariq asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about wine, and he forbade him from making it. He said, 'It is a medicine.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "It is not a medicine, but it is a disease."

«الْخَمْرُ مِنْ هَاتَيْنِ الشَّجَرَتَيْنِ النَّخْلَةِ وَالْعِنَبِ»
✧ "Wine is from these two trees: the date palm and the grapevine."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ سُئِلَ عَنِ الْبِتْعِ قَالَ «كُلُّ شَرَابٍ أَسْكَرَ حَرَامٌ»
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about bit'. He said, "Every drink that intoxicates is unlawful."

بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَنَا وَمُعَاذَ بْنَ جَبَلٍ إِلَى الْيَمَنِ فَقَالَ «اشْرَبُوا وَلَا تَشْرَبُوا مُسْكِرًا فَإِنَّ كُلَّ مُسْكِرٍ حَرَامٌ»
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me and Mu'adh b. Jabal to Yemen and said, "Drink, but do not drink any intoxicant, for every intoxicant is unlawful."

«أَنْهَاكُمْ عَنْ قَلِيلِ مَا أَسْكَرَ كَثِيرُهُ»
✧ "I forbid you from a small amount of that which intoxicates in large amounts."

إِنَّ أَوَّلَ مَا يُكْفَأُ قَالَ زَيْدٌ يَعْنِي في الْإِسْلَامَ كَمَا يُكْفَأُ الْإِنَاءُ يَعْنِي الْخَمْرَ فَقِيلَ كَيْفَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَقَدْ بَيَّنَ اللَّهُ فِيهَا مَا بَيَّنَ؟ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «يُسَمُّونَهَا بِغَيْرِ اسْمِهَا فَيَسْتَحِلُّونَهَا»
✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Indeed, the first thing that will be forbidden is said to be Zaid, meaning in Islam just like a container is forbidden, meaning alcohol. So it was said, 'How so, O Messenger of Allah, when Allah has clearly stated what is haram in it?' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'They will give it a different name and make it permissible.'"
«أَوَّلُ دِينِكُمْ نُبُوَّةٌ وَرَحْمَةٌ ثُمَّ مُلْكٌ وَرَحْمَةٌ ثُمَّ مُلْكٌ أَعْفَرُ ثُمَّ مُلْكٌ وَجَبَرُوتٌ يُسْتَحَلُّ فِيهَا الْخَمْرُ وَالْحَرِيرُ»
✧ "The first of your religion is prophethood and mercy, then kingship and mercy, then a dust-colored kingship, then a kingship with tyranny, in which wine and silk are deemed lawful."

سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ بَيْعِ الْخَمْرِ فَقَالَ كَانَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ ﷺ صَدِيقٌ مِنْ ثَقِيفٍ أَوْ مِنْ دَوْسٍ فَلَقِيَهُ بِمَكَّةَ عَامَ الْفَتْحِ بِرَاوِيَةٍ مِنْ خَمْرٍ يُهْدِيهَا لَهُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ «يَا فُلَانُ أَمَا عَلِمْتَ أَنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى قَدْ حَرَّمَهَا؟» قَالَ فَأَقْبَلَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى غُلَامِهِ فَقَالَ اذْهَبْ فَبِعْهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِمَاذَا أَمَرْتَهُ يَا فُلَانُ؟ قَالَ أَمَرْتُهُ بِبَيْعِهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ إِنَّ الَّذِي حَرَّمَ شُرْبَهَا حَرَّمَ بَيْعَهَا فَأَمَرَ بِهَا فَأُكْفِئَتْ فِي الْبَطْحَاءِ
✧ I asked Ibn ‘Abbās about selling wine. He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had a friend from Thaqīf or from Daws, who met him in Makkah in the year of the conquest with a skin of wine, intending to give it to him as a gift. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “O so-and-so, do you not know that Allah, Exalted is He, has forbidden it?” He said: The man turned to his servant and said: “Go and sell it.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “What did you order him to do, O so-and-so?” He said: “I ordered him to sell it.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Indeed, the One who forbade drinking it also forbade selling it.” So he ordered it to be overturned, and it was poured out in al-Baṭḥā’.

بَلَغَ عُمَرَ أَنَّ سَمُرَةَ بَاعَ خَمْرًا فَقَالَ قَاتَلَ اللَّهُ سَمُرَةَ أَمَا عَلِمَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الْيَهُودَ حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الشُّحُومُ فَجَمَلُوهَا فَبَاعُوهَا
✧ It reached ‘Umar that Samurah had sold wine, so he said: “May Allah fight Samurah! Does he not know that the Prophet ﷺ said: ‘May Allah curse the Jews. Animal fat was forbidden to them, so they melted it and sold it.’”

إِذَا سَكِرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِذَا سَكِرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِذَا سَكِرَ فَاجْلِدُوهُ ثُمَّ إِذَا سَكِرَ فَاضْرِبُوا عُنُقَهُ
✧ “If he becomes drunk, flog him; then if he becomes drunk, flog him; then if he becomes drunk, flog him; then if he becomes drunk, strike his neck.”

✧ “The fornicator does not commit fornication while he is a believer, the thief does not steal while he is a believer, and the wine drinker does not drink wine while he is a believer.”

كَانَ يُنْبَذُ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي السِّقَاءِ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ سِقَاءٌ نُبِذَ لَهُ فِي تَوْرٍ مِنْ بِرَامٍ
✧ Nabīdh would be prepared for the Prophet ﷺ in a water-skin; if no water-skin was available, it would be prepared for him in a stone vessel.

أَنَّ أَبَاهُ أَوْ أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْهُمْ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا قَدْ خَرَجْنَا مِنْ حَيْثُ عَلِمْتَ وَنَزَلْنَا بَيْنَ ظَهْرَانَيْ مَنْ قَدْ عَلِمْتَ فَمَنْ وَلِيُّنَا؟ قَالَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا كُنَّا أَصْحَابَ كَرْمٍ وَخَمْرٍ وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ حَرَّمَ الْخَمْرَ فَمَا نَصْنَعُ بِالْكَرْمِ؟ قَالَ اصْنَعُوهُ زَبِيبًا قَالُوا فَمَا نَصْنَعُ بِالزَّبِيبِ؟ قَالَ انْقَعُوا فِي الشِّنَانِ انْقَعُوهُ عَلَى غَدَائِكُمْ وَاشْرَبُوهُ عَلَى عَشَائِكُمْ وَانْقَعُوهُ عَلَى عَشَائِكُمْ وَاشْرَبُوهُ عَلَى غَدَائِكُمْ فَإِنَّهُ إِذَا أَتَى عَلَيْهِ الْعَصْرَانِ كَانَ خَلًّا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَكُونَ خَمْرًا
✧ That his father, or a man among them, asked the Prophet ﷺ: “O Messenger of Allah, we have come out from where you know, and we have settled among people whom you know. Who is our protector?” He said: “Allah and His Messenger.” They said: “O Messenger of Allah, we used to be owners of vineyards and wine, and Allah has forbidden wine, so what should we do with the vineyards?” He said: “Make them into raisins.” They said: “Then what should we do with the raisins?” He said: “Soak them in water-skins; soak them in the morning and drink them in the evening, and soak them in the evening and drink them in the morning, for when the two times pass, it becomes vinegar before it becomes wine.”

✧ I asked Ibn ‘Umar about nabīdh in earthenware jars. He said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade it.” Then I met Ibn ‘Abbās and informed him of Ibn ‘Umar’s statement, and he said: “Abū ‘Abd al-Raḥmān spoke the truth.”

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَا تَنْتَبِذُوا فِي الدُّبَّاءِ وَالْمُزَفَّتِ»

✧ I asked Ibn ‘Abbās, or I heard him being asked, about nabīdh in earthenware jars. He said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade nabīdh in earthenware jars and gourds.”

أَخْبِرْنِي بِمَا يَحْرُمُ عَلَيْنَا مِنَ الشَّرَابِ فَقَالَ الْخَمْرُ قُلْتُ هُوَ فِي الْقُرْآنِ قَالَ مَا أُحَدِّثُكَ إِلَّا مَا سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدًا ﷺ بَدَأَ بِالِاسْمِ أَوْ بِالرِّسَالَةِ قَالَ فَقَالَ «نَهَى عَنِ الدُّبَّاءِ وَالْحَنْتَمِ وَالنَّقِيرِ»
✧ “Tell me what drink is forbidden to us.” He said: “Wine.” I said: “That is in the Qur’an.” He said: “I only relate to you what I heard Muḥammad ﷺ say, beginning with the name or the message.” He said: “He forbade gourds, green jars, and hollowed stumps.”

«لَا تَنْتَبِذُوا الزَّهْوَ وَالرُّطَبَ جَمِيعًا وَلَا تَنْتَبِذُوا الزَّبِيبَ وَالتَّمْرَ جَمِيعًا وَانْتَبِذُوا كُلَّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا عَلَى حِدَتِهِ»
✧ Do not soak unripe dates and ripe dates together, and do not soak raisins and dried dates together, but soak each one of them separately.

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَا تَقُولُوا الْكَرْمَ وَقُولُوا الْعِنَبَ أَوِ الْحَبَلَةَ
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Do not say 'al-Karm,' but say 'al-'Inab' or 'al-Habalah.'
Sunan ad-Darimi 2161Hasan
كَانَ فِي حِجْرِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ يَتَامَى فَاشْتَرَى لَهُمْ خَمْرًا فَلَمَّا نَزَلَ تَحْرِيمُ الْخَمْرِ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ فَقَالَ «أَجْعَلُهُ خَلًّا» قَالَ لَا فَأَهْرَاقَهُ
✧ There were orphans in the care of Abu Talhah, and he bought wine for them. When the prohibition of wine was revealed, he came to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned that to him. He said, 'Should I make it into vinegar?' He said, 'No.' So he poured it out.

أَنَّهُ رَأَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ شَرِبَ لَبَنًا وَعَنْ يَسَارِهِ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعَنْ يَمِينِهِ رَجُلٌ أَعْرَابِيٌّ فَأَعْطَى الْأَعْرَابِيَّ فَضْلَهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ الْأَيْمَنَ فَالْأَيْمَنَ
✧ He saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ drink milk, with Abu Bakr on his left and a Bedouin man on his right. He gave the leftover to the Bedouin, then said, 'The right, then the right.'

✧ Anas used to breathe in the vessel two or three times, and he claimed that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to breathe in the vessel two or three times.

كُنْتُ عِنْدَ مَرْوَانَ فَجَاءَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ فَقَالَ قَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي لَا أَرْوَى مِنْ نَفَسٍ وَاحِدٍ قَالَ «فَأَبِنِ الْإِنَاءَ عَنْ فِيكَ ثُمَّ تَنَفَّسْ» قَالَ إِنِّي أَرَى الْقَذَاةَ قَالَ «أَهْرِقْهُ»
✧ I was with Marwan when Abu Sa'id came and said: A man said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I cannot quench my thirst with one breath.' He said, 'Then remove the vessel from your mouth, then breathe.' He said, 'I see a speck in it.' He said, 'Then pour it out.'

«إِذَا بَالَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلَا يَمَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ وَلَا يَسْتَنْجِي بِيَمِينِهِ وَلَا يَتَنَفَّسْ فِي الْإِنَاءِ»
✧ When one of you urinates, he should not touch his private part with his right hand, nor cleanse himself with his right hand, nor breathe into the vessel.

أَتَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ يَعُودُهُ وَجَدْوَلٌ يَجْرِي فَقَالَ إِنْ كَانَ عِنْدَكُمْ مَاءٌ بَاتَ فِي الشَّنِّ وَإِلَّا كَرَعْنَا
✧ The Prophet ﷺ came to a man among the Ansar to visit him, and a stream was flowing. He said, 'If you have water that has stood overnight in a skin, otherwise we will drink directly from the stream.'

✧ He forbade drinking while standing. He said: And I asked him about eating. He said: That is worse.

✧ He said to a man whom he saw drinking while standing: Vomit. He said: Why? He said: Would you like to drink with a cat? He said: No. He said: Then one worse than it has drunk with you: Satan.

✧ The one who drinks from a vessel of silver only gulps into his belly the fire of Hell.

خَرَجْنَا مَعَ حُذَيْفَةَ إِلَى الْمَدَائِنِ فَاسْتَسْقَى فَأَتَاهُ دِهْقَانٌ بِإِنَاءٍ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ فَرَمَى بِهِ وَجْهَهُ فَقُلْنَا اسْكُتُوا فَإِنَّا إِنْ سَأَلْنَاهُ لَمْ يُحَدِّثْنَا فَلَمَّا كَانَ بَعْدُ قَالَ أَتدْرُونَ لِمَ رَمَيْتُهُ؟ قُلْنَا لَا قَالَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ نَهَيْتُهُ وَذَكَرَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَنَّهُ نَهَى عَنِ الشُّرْبِ فِي آنِيَةِ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ وَعَنْ لُبْسِ الْحَرِيرِ وَالدِّيبَاجِ وَقَالَ «هُمَا لَهُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَلَكُمْ فِي الْآخِرَة»
✧ "We went out with Hudhaifah to Al-Madain, seeking rain. A Bedouin came to him with a silver vessel, and Hudhaifah threw it away. We told him to quiet down, for if we asked him, he would not speak to us. However, later he asked us, 'Do you know why I threw it?' We said, 'No.' He said, 'I was forbidden to drink from vessels made of gold or silver, and forbidden to wear silk and brocade. The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Those are for them in this world, and for you in the Hereafter.'

أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِلَبَنٍ فَقَالَ أَلَا خَمَّرْتَهُ وَلَوْ تَعْرِضُ عَلَيْهِ عُودًا
✧ I brought the Messenger of Allah ﷺ some milk, and he said: Why did you not cover it, even if you placed a stick across it?

أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ بِتَغْطِيَةِ الْوَضُوءِ وَإِيكَاءِ السِّقَاءِ وَإِكْفَاءِ الْإِنَاءِ
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to cover the water container, tie the waterskin, and turn the vessel upside down.

قَالَ مَرْوَانُ لِأَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ هَلْ سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ يَنْهَى عَنِ النَّفْخِ فِي الشَّرَابِ؟ قَالَ «نَعَمْ»
✧ Marwan said to Abu Sa'id al-Khudri: Have you heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbid blowing into the drink? He said: Yes.
