سَأَلَ سَلَمَةُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ الْجُعْفِيُّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ قَامَتْ عَلَيْنَا أُمَرَاءُ يَسْأَلُونَا حَقَّهُمْ وَيَمْنَعُونَا حَقَّنَا، فَمَا تَأْمُرُنَا ؟ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ، ثُمَّ سَأَلَهُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ، ثُمَّ سَأَلَهُ فَأَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ، فَقَالَ: اسْمَعُوا وَأَطِيعُوا فَإِنَّمَا عَلَيْكُمْ مَا حُمِّلْتُمْ وَعَلَيْهِمْ مَا حُمِّلُوا
✧ Salamah b. Yazid al-Juʿfi asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, “O Messenger of Allah, what do you command us to do if rulers are placed over us who demand their rights from us but deny us our rights?” He turned away from him. Then he asked again, and he turned away. Then he asked a third time, and he turned away. Then he said, “Listen and obey, for you are responsible for what you are burdened with, and they are responsible for what they are burdened with.”

أَنَّ طَارِقَ بْنَ سُوَيْدٍ سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنِ الْخَمْرِ يُتَدَاوَى بِهَا، فَقَالَ: لَيْسَ هِيَ دَوَاءً، وَلَكِنَّهَا دَاءٌ
✧ Tariq b. Suwayd asked the Prophet ﷺ about wine used as medicine, so he said: "It is not a cure, but rather it is a disease."

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَقْطَعَهُ أَرْضًا، قَالَ: فَأَرْسَلَ مَعِي مُعَاوِيَةَ، فَقَالَ: أَعْطِهَا إِيَّاهُ، قَالَ: فَخَرَجْتُ وَأَنَا رَاكِبٌ وَمُعَاوِيَةُ يَمْشِي فِي نِصْفِ النَّهَارِ، فَقَالَ: مُعَاوِيَةُ أَرْدِفْنِي خَلْفَكَ، قُلْتُ: لَا تَكُونُ مِنْ أَرْدَافِ الْمُلُوكِ، قَالَ: فَأَعْطِنِي نَعْلَكَ، قُلْتُ: انْتَعِلْ ظِلَّ النَّاقَةِ، فَلَمَّا اسْتُخْلِفَ مُعَاوِيَةُ أَتَيْتُهُ فَأَقْعَدَنِي مَعَهُ عَلَى السَّرِيرِ، وَذَكَّرَنِي الْحَدِيثَ، فَوَدِدْتُ أَنِّي كُنْتُ حَمَلْتُهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيَّ
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ granted him a piece of land. He said: He sent Mu'awiya with me and said: 'Give it to him.' He said: I set out riding while Mu'awiya was walking in the midday heat. Mu'awiya said: 'Let me ride behind you.' I said: 'You are not one to ride behind kings.' He said: 'Then give me your sandal.' I said: 'Use the shade of the camel.' When Mu'awiya became caliph, I came to him and he seated me with him on the couch and reminded me of the incident. I wished that I had carried him in front of me.

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ حَضْرَمَوْتَ وَرَجُلٌ مِنْ كِنْدَةَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ هَذَا قَدْ غَلَبَنِي عَلَى أَرْضٍ كَانَتْ لِأَبِي، فَقَالَ الْكِنْدِيُّ: هِيَ أَرْضِي وَفِي يَدِي لَيْسَ لَهُ فِيهَا حَقٌّ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ لِلْحَضْرَمِيِّ: " أَلَكَ بَيِّنَةٌ " قَالَ: مَا لِي بَيِّنَةٌ، قَالَ: يَحْلِفُ، قَالَ: إِذًا يَحْلِفُ مَا يُبَالِي عَلَى مَا حَلَفَ عَلَيْهِ، لَيْسَ يَتَوَرَّعُ مِنْ شَيْءٍ، قَالَ: لَيْسَ لَكَ إِلَّا ذَلِكَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ -: مَنْ حَلَفَ عَلَى مَالِ أَخِيهِ، فَأَكَلَهُ ظُلْمًا لَقِيَ اللهَ وَهُوَ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضٌ
✧ A man from Hadramawt and a man from Kinda came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Hadrami said: 'O Messenger of Allah, this man has seized land that belonged to my father.' The Kindi said: 'It is my land and in my possession; he has no right to it.' The Prophet ﷺ said to the Hadrami: 'Do you have evidence?' He said: 'I have no evidence.' He said: 'Then he must swear.' He said: 'If he swears, he will not care what he swears about; he does not refrain from anything.' He said: 'You have no other recourse.' Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever swears falsely to take his brother's property and consumes it unjustly will meet Allah while He is turned away from him.'

كُنْتُ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَتَاهُ رَجُلَانِ يَخْتَصِمَانِ فِي أَرْضٍ، فَقَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا: إِنَّ هَذَا انْتَزَى عَلَى أَرْضِي فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَهُوَ امْرُؤُ الْقَيْسِ، وَهَذَا رَبِيعَةُ بْنُ عَبْدَانَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " بَيِّنَتُكَ "، قَالَ: لَيْسَ لِي بَيِّنَةٌ، قَالَ: " يَمِينُهُ " قَالَ: إِذًا يَذْهَبُ بِهَا، قَالَ: " لَيْسَ لَكَ إِلَّا ذَلِكَ "، فَلَمَّا قَامَ لِيَحْلِفَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ -: مَنِ اقْتَطَعَ أَرْضًا ظُلْمًا لَقِيَ اللهَ وَهُوَ عَلَيْهِ غَضْبَانُ قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْسَبُ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: " مَنْ أُقْطِعَ أَرْضًا ظُلْمًا بِيَمِينِهِ
✧ I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when two men came to him disputing over land. One of them said: 'O Messenger of Allah, this man encroached upon my land in the pre-Islamic era.' He was Imru' al-Qays, and the other was Rabi'a b. 'Abdan. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Your evidence.' He said: 'I have no evidence.' He said: 'His oath.' He said: 'Then he will take it.' He said: 'You have no other recourse.' When he stood up to swear, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever seizes land unjustly will meet Allah while He is angry with him.' Abu Bakr said: I think he said: 'Whoever is granted land unjustly by his oath.'

✧ I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when he prostrated, placing his forehead and nose on the ground.

أَنَّ امْرَأَةً اسْتُكْرِهَتْ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَدَرَأَ الْحَدَّ عَنِ الْمَرْأَةِ وَأَقَامَهُ عَلَى الَّذِي أَصَابَهُ، وَلَمْ يُذْكَرْ أَنَّهُ جَعَلَ لَهَا مَهْرًا
✧ A woman was coerced during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, so he waived the punishment for the woman and imposed it on the one who had intercourse with her. It was not mentioned that he assigned her a dower.

✧ I came to the Prophet ﷺ with long hair. He said: 'Dhubbab (a lock of hair).' So I went and cut it, then came back. He said: 'I did not mean you; this is better.'

✧ When he prayed and wanted to prostrate, his knees fell to the ground before his hands; and when he rose, he raised his knees before his hands.

شَهِدْتُ رَجُلًا وَجَاءَ بِرَجُلٍ يُقَادُ فِي نِسْعَةٍ قَدْ قَتَلَ رَجُلًا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِوَلِيِّ الْمَقْتُولِ: " أَتَعْفُو ؟ قَالَ: لَا، قَالَ: " تَأْخُذُ الدِّيَةَ ؟ " قَالَ: لَا، قَالَ: " فَتَقْتُلُهُ "، قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: " فَاذْهَبْ "، قَالَ: فَذَهَبَ بِهِ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ غَيْرَ بَعِيدٍ دَعَاهُ، فَقَالَ: " أَتَعْفُو ؟ "، قَالَ: لَا، قَالَ: " أَتَأْخُذُ الدِّيَةَ ؟ "، قَالَ: لَا، قَالَ: " تَقْتُلُهُ "، قَالَ: نَعَمْ، وَذَهَبَ بِهِ حَتَّى فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ مِرَارًا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " إِنْ قَتَلَهُ فَهُوَ مِثْلُهُ
✧ I witnessed a man brought forward, led by a strap, who had killed another man. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to the guardian of the slain: 'Will you pardon?' He said: 'No.' He said: 'Will you accept blood money?' He said: 'No.' He said: 'Then will you kill him?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Then go.' He said: So he went with him. When he was not far, he called him and said: 'Will you pardon?' He said: 'No.' He said: 'Will you accept blood money?' He said: 'No.' He said: 'Will you kill him?' He said: 'Yes.' And he went with him until he did that several times. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'If he kills him, then he is like him.'

رَمَقْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَلَمَّا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى بَلَغَ بِهِمَا أُذُنَيْهِ وَكَبَّرَ، ثُمَّ وَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى الْيُسْرَى، فَلَمَّا رَكَعَ رَفَعَ وَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حِينَ رَفَعَ، فَلَمَّا جَلَسَ فِي الثَّانِيَةِ عَلَى رِجْلِهِ الْيُسْرَى ثَنَاهَا تَحْتَهُ، ثُمَّ نَصَبَ الْيُمْنَى، وَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى فَخِذِهِ الْيُمْنَى، وَيَدَهُ الْيُسْرَى عَلَى فَخِذِهِ الْيُسْرَى، وَحَلَّقَ حَلْقَةً بِأُصْبُعِهِ السَّبَّابَةِ بِالْيُمْنَى
✧ I watched the Prophet ﷺ. When he began the prayer, he raised his hands until they reached his ears and said the takbir. Then he placed his right hand over his left. When he bowed, he raised his hands, and he raised his hands when he rose. When he sat in the second rak'ah on his left foot, he folded it under him, then erected his right foot, placed his right hand on his right thigh, his left hand on his left thigh, and formed a circle with his right index finger.

بَلَغَنَا ظُهُورُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَنَحْنُ فِي مُلْكٍ عَظِيمٍ وَطَاعَةٍ، فَرَفَضْتُهُ وَخَرَجْتُ رَاغِبًا فِي اللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ، فَلَمَّا قَدِمْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ قَدْ بَشَّرَهُمْ بِقُدُومِي، فَلَمَّا قَدِمْتُ عَلَيْهِ، وَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ رَدَّ عَلَيَّ، وَبَسَطَ لِي رِدَاءَهُ وَأَجْلَسَنِي عَلَيْهِ، ثُمَّ صَعِدَ مِنْبَرَهُ وَأَقْعَدَنِي مَعَهُ، فَرَفَعَ يَدَهُ فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ وَصَلَّى عَلَى النَّبِيِّينَ وَاجْتَمَعَ النَّاسُ إِلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ لَهُمْ: أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، هَذَا وَائِلُ بْنُ حُجْرٍ قَدْ أَتَاكُمْ مِنْ أَرْضٍ بَعِيدَةٍ مِنْ حَضْرَمَوْتَ طَائِعًا غَيْرَ مُكْرَهٍ، رَاغِبًا فِي اللهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَفِي دِينِهِ، بَقِيَّةُ أَبْنَاءِ الْمُلُوكِ " فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَا هُوَ إِلَّا بَلَغَنَا ظُهُورُكَ وَنَحْنُ فِي مُلْكٍ عَظِيمٍ وَطَاعَةٍ عَظِيمَةٍ، فَأَتَيْتُكَ رَاغِبًا فِي اللهِ وَفِي رَسُولِهِ وَفِي دِينِهِ. قَالَ: " صَدَقْتَ
✧ It reached us that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ appeared while we were in a great kingdom and obedience, so I abandoned it and went out desiring Allah and His Messenger. When I arrived before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he had already given them the good news of my coming. When I came to him and greeted him, he returned my greeting, spread his cloak for me, and seated me on it. Then he ascended his pulpit and seated me with him. He raised his hand, praised Allah, extolled Him, and invoked blessings upon the prophets. The people gathered around him, and he said to them: 'O people, this is Wa'il b. Hujr who has come to you from a distant land, from Hadramawt, willingly not under compulsion, desiring Allah and His Messenger and His religion, a remnant of the sons of kings.' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, it is only that your appearance reached us while we were in a great kingdom and great obedience, so I came to you desiring Allah and His Messenger and His religion.' He said: 'You have spoken the truth.'

شَهِدْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَأُتِيَ بِإِنَاءٍ فِيهِ مَاءٌ، فَأَكْفَاهُ عَلَى يَمِينِهِ ثَلَاثًا، ثُمَّ غَمَسَ يَمِينَهُ فِي الْمَاءِ، فَغَسَلَ بِهَا يَسَارَهُ ثَلَاثًا، ثُمَّ أَدْخَلَ يَمِينَهُ فِي الْمَاءِ فَحَفَنَ بِهَا حَفْنَةً مِنَ الْمَاءِ فَمَضْمَضَ وَاسْتَنْشَقَ ثَلَاثًا وَاسْتَنْثَرَ، ثُمَّ أَدْخَلَ كَفَّيْهِ فِي الْإِنَاءِ فَرَفَعَهَا إِلَى وَجْهِهِ، فَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا، وَغَسَلَ بَاطِنَ أُذُنَيْهِ، وَأَدْخَلَ أُصْبُعَيْهِ فِي دَاخِلِ أُذُنَيْهِ، وَمَسَحَ ظَاهِرَ رَقَبَتِهِ وَبَاطِنَ لِحْيَتِهِ ثَلَاثًا، ثُمَّ أَدْخَلَ يَمِينَهُ فِي الْمَاءِ فَغَسَلَ بِهَا ذِرَاعَهُ الْيُمْنَى حَتَّى جَاوَزَ الْمِرْفَقَ ثَلَاثًا، ثُمَّ غَسَلَ يَسَارَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ حَتَّى جَاوَزَ الْمِرْفَقَ ثَلَاثًا، ثُمَّ مَسَحَ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ ثَلَاثًا وَظَاهِرِ أُذُنَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا وَظَاهِرِ رَقَبَتِهِ، وَأَظُنُّهُ قَالَ: وَظَاهِرِ لِحْيَتِهِ ثَلَاثًا، ثُمَّ غَسَلَ بِيَمِينِهِ قَدَمَهُ الْيُمْنَى ثَلَاثًا، وَفَصَلَ بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِهِ، أَوْ قَالَ: خَلَّلَ بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِهِ، وَرَفَعَ الْمَاءَ حَتَّى جَازَ الْكَعْبَ، ثُمَّ رَفَعَهُ فِي السَّاقِ، ثُمَّ فَعَلَ بِالْيُسْرَى مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ، ثُمَّ أَخَذَ حَفْنَةً مِنْ مَاءٍ فَمَلَأَ بِهَا يَدَهُ، ثُمَّ وَضَعَهَا عَلَى رَأْسِهِ حَتَّى انْحَدَرَ الْمَاءُ مِنْ جَوَانِبِهِ، وَقَالَ: هَذَا تَمَامُ الْوُضُوءِ وَلَمْ أَرَهُ تَنَشَّفَ بِثَوْبٍ، ثُمَّ نَهَضَ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ، فَدَخَلَ فِي الْمِحْرَابِ - يَعْنِي- مَوْضِعَ الْمِحْرَابِ، فَصَفَّ النَّاسَ خَلْفَهُ وَعَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَنْ يَسَارِهِ، ثُمَّ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى حَاذَتَا بِشَحْمَةِ أُذُنَيْهِ، ثُمَّ وَضَعَ يَمِينَهُ عَلَى يَسَارِهِ عِنْدَ صَدْرِهِ، ثُمَّ افْتَتَحَ الْقِرَاءَةَ فَجَهَرَ بِالْحَمْدِ، ثُمَّ فَرَغَ مِنْ سُورَةِ الْحَمْدِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: آمِينَ حَتَّى سَمِعَ مَنْ خَلْفَهُ، ثُمَّ قَرَأَ سُورَةً أُخْرَى، ثُمَّ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ بِالتَّكْبِيرِ حَتَّى حَاذَتَا بِشَحْمَةِ أُذُنَيْهِ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ فَجَعَلَ يَدَيْهِ عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ، وَفَرَّجَ بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِهِ، وَأَمْهَلَ فِي الرُّكُوعِ حَتَّى اعْتَدَلَ وَصَارَ صُلْبُهُ لَوْ وُضِعَ عَلَيْهِ قَدَحٌ مِنَ الْمَاءِ مَا انْكَفَأَ، ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ ﷺ بِخُشُوعٍ وَقَالَ: سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ، ثُمَّ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى حَاذَتَا بِشَحْمَةِ أُذُنَيْهِ، ثُمَّ انْحَطَّ لِلسُّجُودِ بِالتَّكْبِيرِ فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ إِلَى أَنْ حَاذَتَا بِشَحْمَةِ أُذُنَيْهِ، ثُمَّ أَثْبَتَ جَبْهَتَهُ فِي الْأَرْضِ حَتَّى إِنِّي أَرَى أَنْفَهُ فِي الرَّمْلِ، وَقَوَّسَ بِذِرَاعَيْهِ وَرَأْسَهُ، وَبَسَطَ فَخِذَهُ الْيَسَارَ وَنَصَبَ الْيَمِينَ كَمَا أَثْبَتَ أَصَابِعَ رِجْلَيْهِ وَلَمْ يُمْهِلْ بِالسُّجُودِ وَرَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ، فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ بِالتَّكْبِيرِ إِلَى أَنْ حَاذَتَا بِشَحْمَةِ أُذُنَيْهِ، وَجَلَسَ جِلْسَةً خَفِيفَةً، فَوَضَعَ كَفَّهُ الْيَمِينَ عَلَى رُكْبَتِهِ وَبَعْضِ فَخِذِهِ، وَحَلَّقَ بِأُصْبُعِهِ، ثُمَّ انْحَطَّ سَاجِدًا بِمِثْلِ ذَلِكَ، ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ بِالتَّكْبِيرِ بِيَدَيْهِ إِلَى أَنْ حَاذَتَا بِشَحْمَةِ أُذُنَيْهِ وَإِلَى أَنِ اعْتَدَلَ فِي قِيَامِهِ وَرَجَعَ كُلُّ عَظْمٍ إِلَى مَوْضِعِهِ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ يَفْعَلُ فِيهِنَّ مَا يَفْعَلُ فِي هَذِهِ، ثُمَّ جَلَسَ جِلْسَةً فِي التَّشَهُّدِ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ عَلَى يَمِينِهِ حَتَّى يُرَى بَيَاضُ خَدِّهِ الْأَيْسَرِ، وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ حَتَّى يُرَى بَيَاضُ خَدِّهِ الْأَيْمَنِ. وَهَذَا الْحَدِيثُ لَا نَعْلَمُهُ يُرْوَى بِهَذَا اللَّفْظِ إِلَّا عَنْ وَائِلِ بْنِ حُجْرٍ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ.
✧ I witnessed the Prophet ﷺ when a vessel containing water was brought to him. He tilted it over his right hand three times, then dipped his right hand into the water and washed his left hand with it three times. Then he inserted his right hand into the water and scooped up a handful, rinsed his mouth and sniffed water into his nostrils three times and blew it out. Then he inserted both palms into the vessel and raised them to his face, washing his face three times. He washed the inside of his ears, inserted his two fingers into the inside of his ears, and wiped the back of his neck and the inside of his beard three times. Then he inserted his right hand into the water and washed his right forearm with it until it passed the elbow, three times. Then he washed his left forearm with his right hand until it passed the elbow, three times. Then he wiped over his head three times, the outside of his ears three times, and the back of his neck, and I think he said: and the outside of his beard three times. Then with his right hand he washed his right foot three times, parted between his toes—or he said: ran his fingers between them—and raised the water until it passed the ankle, then raised it up the shin. Then he did the same with the left foot. Then he took a handful of water, filled his hand with it, and placed it on his head until the water flowed down its sides. He said: 'This is the complete ablution.' I did not see him dry himself with a cloth. Then he rose to the mosque and entered the mihrab—meaning the place of the mihrab—and lined up the people behind him and to his right and left. Then he raised his hands until they were level with the lobes of his ears, then placed his right hand over his left on his chest. Then he began the recitation aloud with al-Hamd. When he finished Surat al-Hamd, he said 'Amin' so that those behind him heard it. Then he recited another surah. Then he raised his hands with the takbir until they were level with the lobes of his ears, then bowed and placed his hands on his knees, spreading his fingers. He paused in the bowing until he was straight and his back became such that if a bowl of water were placed on it, it would not spill. Then he raised his head ﷺ with humility and said: 'Allah hears the one who praises Him.' Then he raised his hands until they were level with the lobes of his ears, then descended for prostration with the takbir, raising his hands until they were level with the lobes of his ears. Then he fixed his forehead on the ground until I could see his nose in the sand, curved his forearms and head, spread his left thigh, and stood his right foot, fixing the toes of his feet. He did not prolong the prostration, then raised his head, raising his hands with the takbir until they were level with the lobes of his ears, and sat briefly. He placed his right palm on his knee and part of his thigh, and made a circle with his finger. Then he descended to prostrate similarly, then raised his head with the takbir, raising his hands until they were level with the lobes of his ears, until he stood upright and every bone returned to its place. Then he prayed four rak'ahs, doing in them what he did in this one. Then he sat for the tashahhud in the same manner. Then he said the salam to his right until the whiteness of his left cheek could be seen, and said the salam to his left until the whiteness of his right cheek could be seen. This hadith, we do not know it being narrated with this wording except from Wa'il b. Hujr with this chain.

تَفَقَّدْتُ صَلَاةَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَرَأَيْتُهُ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ إِذَا كَبَّرَ، ثُمَّ يَضَعُ يَدَيْهِ وَاحِدَةً عَلَى الْأُخْرَى، ثُمَّ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَرْكَعَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ فَكَبَّرَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ، فَرَفَعَ، فَأُوهِمْتُ رَفَعَ حِينَ سَجَدَ أَمْ لَا ؟ قَالَ: فَرَكَعَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، فَلَمَّا قَعَدَ لِلتَّشَهُّدِ افْتَرَشَ رِجْلَهُ الْيُسْرَى وَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى فَخِذِهِ، ثُمَّ عَقَدَ أُصْبُعَيْهِ، ثُمَّ حَلَّقَ حَلْقَةً وَأَشَارَ بِالسَّبَّابَةِ، وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ وَعَنْ يَسَارِهِ، قَالَ: وَرَأَيْتُهُ يُكَبِّرُ كُلَّمَا خَفَضَ وَرَفَعَ
✧ I carefully observed the prayer of the Prophet ﷺ and saw him raise his hands when he said the takbir, then place one hand over the other. Then when he intended to bow, he raised his hands and said the takbir. Then he said: 'Allah hears the one who praises Him,' and raised them. I was unsure whether he raised them when he prostrated or not. He said: He prayed two rak'ahs. When he sat for the tashahhud, he spread his left leg, placed his right hand on his thigh, then clasped his fingers, then made a circle and pointed with his index finger. He said the salam to his right and to his left. He said: And I saw him say the takbir whenever he went down and came up.
