قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَنْ أَحْيَا أَرْضًا مَيِّتَةً فَلَهُ بِهَا أَجْرٌ وَمَا أَكَلَتِ الْعَوَافِي فَلَهُ بِهَا أَجْرٌ»
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Whoever revives dead land, he has a reward for it, and whatever the scavengers eat from it, he has a reward for it.”

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ أَحْيَا أَرْضًا مَوَاتًا لَيْسَتْ لِأَحَدٍ فَهِيَ لَهُ وَلَا حَقَّ لِعِرْقٍ ظَالِمٍ» قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ قَالَ عُرْوَةُ الْعِرْقُ الظَّالِمُ الرَّجُلُ يُعَمِّرُ الْأَرْضَ الْخَرِبَةَ وَهِيَ لِلنَّاسِ قَدْ عَجَزُوا عَنْهَا فَتَرَكُوهَا حَتَّى خَرِبَتْ
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever brings life to a dead land that belonged to no one, it is his, and there is no right for an unjust root." Muhammad said: 'Urwah said: The unjust root is a man who cultivates ruined land that belongs to people who were unable to cultivate it, so they abandoned it until it became ruined.

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever brings life to a dead land, it is his, and there is no right for an unjust root." Al-Layth said: Then I wrote to Hisham b. 'Urwah, and he wrote back to me with the like of the hadith of Yahya b. Sa'id.

سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَنْ يُقْطِعَنِي الْمِلْحَ الَّذِي بِمَأْرِبَ فَأَقْطَعَنِيهِ قَالَ رَجُلٌ إِنَّهُ كَالْمَاءِ الْعِدِّ فَأَبَى أَنْ يُقْطِعَنِيهِ
✧ I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to grant me the salt that is in Ma'rib, and he granted it to me. A man said: "It is like abundant water." So he refused to grant it to me.

أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَاسْتَقْطَعْتُهُ الْمِلْحَ الَّذِي بِمَأْرِبَ فَأَقْطَعَنِيهِ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّهُ كَالْمَاءِ الْعِدِّ قَالَ «فَلَا إِذًا» 5734 أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ وَقَالَ سُفْيَانُ وَحَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ أَبْيَضَ بْنِ حَمَّالٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ بِمِثْلِهِ خَالَفَهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ
✧ I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked him to grant me the salt that is in Ma'rib, and he granted it to me. A man said: "O Messenger of Allah, it is like abundant water." He said: "Then no." 5734 Sa'id b. 'Amr informed us, he said: Baqiyyah narrated to us, and Sufyan said: And Ibn Abyad b. Hammal narrated to me from his father from the Prophet ﷺ similarly. Muhammad b. al-Mubarak differed from him.

اسْتَقْطَعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مَعْدِنَ الْمِلْحِ الَّذِي بِمَأْرِبَ فَأَقْطَعَنِيهِ فَقِيلَ إِنَّهُ بِمَنْزِلَةِ الْمَاءِ الْعِدِّ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «فَلَا إِذًا» أَسْنَدَهُ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ قَيْسٍ
✧ I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to grant me the salt mine that is in Ma'rib, and he granted it to me. It was said: "It is in the position of abundant water." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Then no." Muhammad b. Yahya b. Qays traced it back.

أَنَّهُ وَفَدَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَاسْتَقْطَعَهُ الْمِلْحَ فَقَطَعَهُ لَهُ فَلَمَّا وَلَّى قَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَتَدْرِي مَا قَطَعْتَ لَهُ؟ إِنَّمَا قَطَعْتَ لَهُ الْمَاءَ الْعِدَّ فَرَجَعَهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ يَعْنِي بِالْمَاءِ الْكَثِيرِ
✧ He came as a delegate to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked him to grant him the salt, so he granted it to him. When he turned away, a man said: "O Messenger of Allah, do you know what you have granted him? You have only granted him abundant water." So he took it back from him. He said: Meaning abundant water.

سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ مَا يُحْمَى مِنَ الْأَرَاكِ؟ قَالَ «مَا لَمْ تَنَلْهُ أَخْفَافُ الْإِبِلِ»
✧ I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: "What is protected from the arak trees?" He said: "What the camels' hooves do not reach."

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ سُفْيَانُ فَلَقِيتُ رَبِيعَةَ فَقَالَ حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ مَوْلَى الْمُنْبَعِثِ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ سُئِلَ عَنْ ضَالَّةِ الْإِبِلِ فَغَضِبَ احْمَارَّتْ وَجْنَتَاهُ فَقَالَ مَا لَكَ وَلَهَا؟ مَعَهَا الْحِذَاءُ وَالسِّقَاءُ تَرِدُ الْمَاءَ وَتَأْكُلُ الشَّجَرَ حَتَّى يَلْقَاهَا رَبُّهَا وَسُئِلَ عَنْ ضَالَّةِ الْغَنَمِ فَقَالَ «خُذْهَا فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ لَكَ أَوْ لِأَخِيكَ أَوْ لِلذِّئْبِ»
✧ The Prophet ﷺ said—Sufyan said: Then I met Rabi'ah, and he said: Yazid, the freed slave of al-Munba'ith, narrated to me from Zayd b. Khalid al-Juhani that the Prophet ﷺ was asked about a stray camel, and he became angry; his cheeks reddened. He said: "What do you have to do with it? It has its shoes and its water-skin; it goes to water and eats trees until its owner finds it." And he was asked about a stray sheep, and he said: "Take it, for it is only for you, or for your brother, or for the wolf."

أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنْ ضَالَّةِ الْإِبِلِ فَقَالَ «مَا لَكَ وَلَهَا؟ مَعَهَا سِقَاؤُهَا وَحِذَاؤُهَا دَعْهَا تَأْكُلُ مِنَ الشَّجَرِ حَتَّى يَلْقَاهَا رَبُّهَا» وَسُئِلَ عَنْ ضَالَّةِ الْغَنَمِ؟ فَقَالَ «خُذْهَا فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ لَكَ أَوْ لِأَخِيكَ أَوْ لِلذِّئْبِ»
✧ A man asked the Prophet ﷺ about a stray camel, and he said: "What do you have to do with it? It has its water-skin and its shoes; leave it to eat from the trees until its owner finds it." And he was asked about a stray sheep, and he said: "Take it, for it is only for you, or for your brother, or for the wolf."

يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ضَالَّةُ الْغَنَمِ قَالَ «خُذْهَا فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ لَكَ أَوْ لِأَخِيكَ أَوْ لِلذِّئْبِ» قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ فَضَالَّةُ الْإِبِلِ فَغَضِبَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَا لَكَ وَلَهَا؟ مَعَهَا حِذَاؤُهَا وَسِقَاؤُهَا حَتَّى يَلْقَاهَا رَبُّهَا» قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وَقَدْ رُوِيَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ
✧ O Messenger of God, a stray sheep?” He said, “Take it, for it is for you, or for your brother, or for the wolf.” He said, “O Messenger of God, then a stray camel?” The Messenger of God ﷺ became angry and said, “What is it with you and it? It has its own shoes and its own water-skin until its Lord meets it.” Abu Abd al-Rahman said: This hadith has been narrated from Ismail b. Umayya, from Rabi'a, from Abdullah b. Yazid.

✧ From a man among the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ that he was asked about a stray animal, and he said, “Recognize its purse and its tie.”
