أَخْبَرَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ هَارُونَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ قَيْسٍ الْمَأْرَبِيُّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ بْنِ شَرَاحِيلَ عَنْ سُمَيِّ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ شُمَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبْيَضَ بْنِ حَمَّالٍ

أَنَّهُ وَفَدَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَاسْتَقْطَعَهُ الْمِلْحَ فَقَطَعَهُ لَهُ فَلَمَّا وَلَّى قَالَ رَجُلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَتَدْرِي مَا قَطَعْتَ لَهُ؟ إِنَّمَا قَطَعْتَ لَهُ الْمَاءَ الْعِدَّ فَرَجَعَهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ يَعْنِي بِالْمَاءِ الْكَثِيرِ

✧ He came as a delegate to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked him to grant him the salt, so he granted it to him. When he turned away, a man said: "O Messenger of Allah, do you know what you have granted him? You have only granted him abundant water." So he took it back from him. He said: Meaning abundant water.
