✧ Who brought life to a dead land that belonged to no one?

أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي حَيْوَةُ بْنُ شُرَيْحٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «مَنْ أَحْيَا أَرْضًا مَوَاتًا لَيْسَتْ لِأَحَدٍ فَهِيَ لَهُ وَلَا حَقَّ لِعِرْقٍ ظَالِمٍ» قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ قَالَ عُرْوَةُ الْعِرْقُ الظَّالِمُ الرَّجُلُ يُعَمِّرُ الْأَرْضَ الْخَرِبَةَ وَهِيَ لِلنَّاسِ قَدْ عَجَزُوا عَنْهَا فَتَرَكُوهَا حَتَّى خَرِبَتْ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever brings life to a dead land that belonged to no one, it is his, and there is no right for an unjust root." Muhammad said: 'Urwah said: The unjust root is a man who cultivates ruined land that belongs to people who were unable to cultivate it, so they abandoned it until it became ruined.
