✧ He went to the mosque of Damascus in the afternoon to perform the noon prayer early, and he met Shaddad b. Aws and another man with him. He said: “Where do you two intend, may Allah have mercy on you?” They said: “We intend to go here to a sick brother of ours to visit him.” He said: He went with them until they entered upon that man. They said to him: “How are you this morning?” He said: “I have entered the morning in the blessing of Allah and His grace.” He said: Shaddad said to him: “Rejoice in the expiations of sins and the removal of errors, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: ‘Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says: When I afflict a believing servant of Mine and he praises Me for what I have afflicted him with, then he rises from his bed that day like the day his mother gave birth to him, free from sins. And Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says: I have bound this servant of Mine and afflicted him, so record for him what you used to record for him while he was healthy.’”
