✧ He went to the mosque of Damascus and set out early. He met Shaddad bin Aus with al-Sunabihi. I said: Where are you two going, may God have mercy on you? They said: We are going here to visit a sick brother of ours. I went with them until they entered upon the man, and they said to him: How are you this morning? He said: I am in a state of blessing. Shaddad said to him: Rejoice in the expiations of sins and the erasure of faults, for I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: God, Mighty and Majestic, says: When I afflict a believing servant of Mine and he praises Me for what I have afflicted him with, he rises from his sickbed as pure of sins as the day his mother gave birth to him. And the Lord, Mighty and Majestic, says: I have confined My servant and tested him, so record for him what you used to record for him when he was healthy.
