✧ A man delivered a speech in the presence of the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has been guided, and whoever disobeys them has gone astray.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Be quiet! What a bad speaker you are.'

أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَلَ عَدِيَّ بْنَ حَاتِمٍ مِائَتَيْ دِرْهَمٍ، فَغَضِبَ مِنْ قِلَّتِهَا وَحَلَفَ أَنْ لَا يُعْطِيَهُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: لَوْلَا أَنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: مَنْ حَلَفَ عَلَى يَمِينٍ فَرَأَى غَيْرَهَا خَيْرًا مِنْهَا فَلْيَأْتِ الَّذِي هُوَ خَيْرٌ وَلْيُكَفِّرْ يَمِينَهُ "، مَا أَعْطَيْتُكَ شَيْئًا، وَلَكِنْ هِيَ لَكَ فِي عَطَائِي
✧ A man asked 'Adi b. Hatim for two hundred dirhams, and he became angry at the smallness of the amount and swore not to give it to him. Then he said: 'Were it not that I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Whoever swears an oath and then sees something better than it, let him do what is better and let him expiate his oath," I would not give you anything. But it is yours, to be deducted from my allowance.'

✧ He narrated that 'Adi b. Hatim was asked for something and he swore not to give it, then he gave it. He said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Whoever swears an oath and then sees something better than it, let him do what is better and let him expiate his oath."'

سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْمِعْرَاضِ فَقَالَ: إِذَا أَصَابَ بِحَدِّهِ فَقَتَلَ فَكُلْ، وَإِذَا أَصَابَ بِعَرْضِهِ فَقَتَلَ فَهُوَ وَقِيذٌ فَلَا تَأْكُلْ، قُلْتُ: أُرْسِلُ كَلْبِي، قَالَ: " إِذَا أَرْسَلْتَ كَلْبَكَ عَلَى الصَّيْدِ وَسَمَّيْتَ فَأَخَذَ فَكُلْ، وَإِنْ أَكَلَ مِنْهُ فَلَا تَأْكُلْ فَإِنَّمَا أَمْسَكَ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ "، قُلْتُ: أُرْسِلُ كَلْبِي فَأَجِدُ مَعَ كَلْبِي كَلْبًا قَدْ أَخَذَ لَا أَدْرِي أَيُّهُمَا أَخَذَهُ ! قَالَ: " فَلَا تَأْكُلْ؛ إِنَّمَا سَمَّيْتَ عَلَى كَلْبِكَ وَلَمْ تُسَمِّ عَلَى غَيْرِهِ
✧ I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the mi'rad (a blunt arrow). He said: 'If it strikes with its edge and kills, then eat; but if it strikes with its side and kills, then it is a waqidh (beaten to death), so do not eat.' I said: 'I send my dog.' He said: 'If you send your dog upon game and mention Allah's name, and it catches it, then eat. But if it eats from it, then do not eat, for it has caught it for itself.' I said: 'I send my dog and find with my dog another dog that has caught it, and I do not know which of them caught it!' He said: 'Then do not eat, for you mentioned Allah's name only over your dog and not over the other.'

✧ I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I throw the mi'rad at game.' He said: 'If you throw the mi'rad at game and it pierces it, then eat; but if it does not pierce it, then do not eat.' Or he said: 'If it strikes with its side, then do not eat.'

قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ لَنَا كِلَابًا مُكَلَّبَةً فَنُرْسِلُهَا عَلَى الصَّيْدِ فَيُمْسِكْنَ عَلَيْنَا. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: إِذَا كُنَّ مُكَلَّبَةً فَأَمْسَكْنَ عَلَيْكَ وَقَتَلْنَ فَكُلْ مَا لَمْ يَشْرَكْهَا كَلْبٌ مِنْ غَيْرِهَا
✧ I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, we have trained dogs. We send them upon game and they catch it for us.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'If they are trained and they catch it for you and kill it, then eat as long as no other dog has shared in it.'

✧ He asked the Prophet ﷺ: 'O Messenger of Allah, I catch game but I find nothing to slaughter it with except a sharp stone or a stick!' He said: 'Cause the blood to flow with whatever you wish, and mention the name of Allah.'

كُنْتُ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَذُكِرَ قَطْعُ السُّبُلِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: لَا يَأْتِي عَلَيْكُمْ إِلَّا يَسِيرٌ حَتَّى تَسِيرَ الظَّعِينَةُ فِيمَا بَيْنَ مَكَّةَ وَالْمَدِينَةِ لَا يَأْخُذُ أَحَدٌ بِخِطَامِهَا، وَاللهِ لَا يَأْتِي عَلَيْكُمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلٌ حَتَّى يَأْخُذَ الرَّجُلُ مِلْءَ كَفِّهِ ذَهَبًا لَا يَجِدُ مَنْ يَقْبَلُهُ مِنْكُمْ، وَمَا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ إِلَّا سَيَلْقَى اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَيْسَ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهُ تَرْجُمَانٌ، فَيَنْظُرُ يَمِينًا وَشِمَالًا فَلَا يَرَى إِلَّا النَّارَ، فَمَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَقِيَ وَجْهَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ فَلْيَفْعَلْ
✧ I was with the Prophet ﷺ when highway robbery was mentioned. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: Only a short time will pass before a woman travels between Makkah and Madinah with no one holding her camel's halter. By God, only a little time will pass before a man takes a handful of gold and finds no one to accept it from him. And there is none of you but will meet God, Mighty and Majestic, with no interpreter between him and Him. He will look to his right and left and see nothing but the Fire. So whoever among you can protect his face from the Fire, even with half a date, let him do so.

" مَا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ إِلَّا سَيَلْقَى اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ لَيْسَ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَهُ تَرْجُمَانٌ، فَيَنْظُرُ أَيْمَنَ مِنْهُ وَأَشْأَمَ مِنْهُ فَلَا يَرَى إِلَّا شَيْئًا قَدَّمَهُ، فَيَنْظُرُ فَإِذَا هُوَ بِالنَّارِ، فَلْيَتَّقِ أَحَدُكُمُ النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ
✧ There is none of you but will meet God, Mighty and Majestic, on the Day of Resurrection with no interpreter between him and Him. He will look to his right and left and see nothing but what he has sent forth. Then he will look and behold, it is the Fire. So let each of you guard against the Fire, even with half a date.

لَمَّا قَدِمْتُ الْمَدِينَةَ وَقَدْ كَانَ يَبْلُغُنِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: إِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ يَجْعَلَ اللهُ يَدَهُ فِي يَدِي، قَالَ: فَانْطَلَقَ بِي إِلَى رَحْلِهِ وَأَلْقَتْ لَنَا الْجَارِيَةُ وِسَادَةً - أَوْ قَالَ: بِسَاطًا - فَجَلَسْنَا، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " أَتُنْكِرُ أَنْ يُقَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ ؟ فَهَلْ مِنْ إِلَهٍ غَيْرُ اللهِ ؟ "، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: لَا، قَالَ: " فَتُنْكِرُ أَنْ يُقَالَ اللهُ أَكْبَرُ ؟ فَهَلْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ أَكْبَرُ مِنَ اللهِ ؟ "، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: لَا، قَالَ: " فَإِنَّ الْيَهُودَ مَغْضُوبٌ عَلَيْهِمْ، وَالنَّصَارَى ضَالُّونَ "، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: فَإِنِّي مُسْلِمٌ. قَالَ: فَرَأَيْتُ وَجْهَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ اسْتَبْشَرَ لِذَلِكَ أَوِ اسْتَنَارَ لِذَلِكَ
✧ When I arrived in Madinah, it had reached me that the Messenger of God ﷺ was saying: I hope that God will place His hand in my hand. He said: He took me to his saddle and a slave girl threw us a cushion - or he said: a rug - and we sat. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: Do you deny that it should be said: There is no god but God? Is there any god other than God? He said: I said: No. He said: Do you deny that it should be said: God is greater? Is there anything greater than God? He said: I said: No. He said: The Jews are those upon whom is wrath, and the Christians are astray. He said: I said: Then I am a Muslim. He said: I saw the face of the Messenger of God ﷺ brighten with joy at that, or light up at that.

✧ I said: O Messenger of God, I shoot game and find it the next day with my arrow in it. He said: If you find your arrow in it and you know that it killed it, and you do not see any trace of a wild animal on it, then eat.
